  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) We really do have three just outstanding setup men right now. Although, ESPN says we need another. Consider the source
  2. I do too, but if can make a team over pay......

  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Coming into 2011, Adam Dunn was one of the most consistent players in baseball. Hmmm yeah......... Here we have a player that had an ops .852 when he was 24.....
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) Then that would really be White Flag part II, because I don't see us making it without him. I would be ok with that
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) He's been in the MLB for 382 games and is 24 years old. These things take time. Hmmm yeah.........
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) You obviously chose not to read the line about the .860 OPS as a full-time CF at age 23. What team (realistically) could give us more for Jackson than Rasmus? I read it, he did that once! We want consistency, again if we get the dude in a nice package go for it
  8. I hope Kenny doesn't think we can win this and trade Viciedo for some crap. I would try to rebuild now. The sox gotta choose, and let mark know what's going down, why? Easy either he wants to resign and go through a rebuild or go somewhere else or in a rare case is get traded and sign back in the offseason( it was happend see Rickey Henderson in 93) my trading pieces are Jackson, mark buehrle, Quentin and maybe even thoronton, trade Pierre while he is hot too. Play morel and Viciedo even if we end up bad for the year youcan get a draft pick a la beckham
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) Ya, that's absolutely not going to happen. Whether you like it or not, Rasmus still has a LOT of value. Guys who put up .860 OPS at age 23 in CF don't grow on trees. Jackson would be a rental and Thornton is 35 and making good money. The 2 of them for Rasmus not only frees up a lot of money, but it also gives you a cornerstone to build around for a long time that you can pair with the big Cuban guy you have sitting in AAA. The Sox would be dealing from an area of strength where they have a surplus (and valid replacements) to improve (potentially long-term) an area of weakness. Yeah, Rasmus has so much value based on age? What has he done or proven to have so much worth? Why do many here have him in so high regard? And to be clear if we got him I wouldn't mind but even if Jackson is a rental for them you still have to play them being desperate
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 12:07 PM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/07/card...lby-rasmus.html deal may include Thornton and Edwin Jackson Rasmus isn't worth both of them, they would have throw in miller or martinez
  11. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) Does Rios's contract allow him to be sent down the minors? If so, I would do it. I know he's making a ton of money but you have to pay him anyway. Why not pay him to play in the minors, and I mean A ball, not Charlotte. At least that way he isn't killing the big league club and maybe, just maybe, but doubtful, he'll get a dose of reality and realize how good he has it at the ML level and get some focus. I seem to remember a team within the past couple years doing that to a player. It may have been a pitcher. Right now they are paying him to hurt the Sox, pay him to hurt Bristol. Like someone mentioned in another thread, Rios is worse than Brian Anderson was. If the Sox are going to let contarct size dictate who plays, then they deserve the 4th place finish they are heading toward. If Detriot can DFA a long time favorite like Inge, the Sox can DFA a bum like Rios. Inge was making good money, not Rios money, but 5.5 mill is still pretty good. Same as Dunn... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:19 PM) Can somebody explain to me what Mark Teahen does well? I mean like one thing. That's all I ask. Suck
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) Real stellar approach at the plate tonight. Maybe that's Rios fault too......
  14. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) mathematically=reality Yeah ok if you say so..... The problem is they don't have the mind set to make up the math.....
  15. Bring up Viciedo, Bring up Infante start trading, even if the sox win tonight they're outta of it, no matter what the standings say, this isn't a playoff team
  16. Gotta be f***ing kidding me, Kenny better not say were in this, I mean mathematically we are but in heart and in reality WE GAWN
  17. QUOTE (onedude @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) Peavy? Actually that is a great suggestion, with peavey's competitive sprit and tough mind it would be a plus, and it will get his arm up to strength for next year
  18. QUOTE (C_LEE45 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) BECAUSE we know Dunn is NOT!!!!!!!! you like giving outs way? And you have what proof of Viciedo being the savior? Crappy AAA pitching?
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Just put Viciedo at f***ing third base if you aren't going to replace Juan. That Wouldn't be good
