QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) I don't really want the guy to be banned, I was just pointing out that his post falls into the gray area of "Personal Attacks" where on a different night, with a different moderator, things might be different. If you read the link to the original "Personal Attacks" thread, you'll see that that's my basic stance. Mods do a great job. A job I certainly wouldn't be able to do. Thanks. Maybe we sould get an Icon that looks like a Kiss...... I know what i would use it for

Could we be watching the best Sox pitching staff?
JoshPR replied to BFirebird's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(BFirebird @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) I was watching Contreras dominate the hapless Royals on tv the other day and thought to myself...is this the best staff ever? I remember the '93 staff being on of the best in the league, wasn't old enough to remember the '83 team (born in '81) and didnt know that much about the Hitless Wonders of '06 or the last championship team '17. So I decided to do a little research and thanks to Baseball-Reference.com and ESPN.com I was able to put together some stats. When looking at them you have to take into consideration the different eras of baseball and the way pitchers were used. In the early days complete games were more prevalent and closers were not. I also included how they ranked in the league for that year in most categories so that should give a good feel of how to compare them. White Sox Pitching Comparisons In a nice little table for your viewing pleasure!! (If it gets a little out of the table just refresh it...dont know what happened to it) One thing that is really stands out to me is the number 1 or 2 in ERA all those years, no real dominate closer in 83 or 93 and having a 20 game winner in all of them except this year (so far). But on the sheer numbers alone...this staff is definitely one of, if not the best in Sox history!!! Even tho they didn't make the playoffs the 1967 staff was dominating and far from Shabby. 3 Pitchers in the top 5 in ERA -
QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) Shingo has been called up by the Mets and as pitched 2.1 scoreless innings so far, although he has been credited with a blown save, in the 7th inning. ANyway Good Luck to Shingo, he never made excuses, only blamed himself, a ture professional!!! Blew another Save today. Sayonara Shingo

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) Borchard really said nothing wrong. I am actaully rooting for Borch, hopfully he can come out and at least hold his own up here, and increase his value. A package of Marte, Borch and one of the SP's could bring alot back to this club....... GOOD RIDDANCE TO YOU BORCHARD

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) He's gonna miss 1 or 2 games with a sprained foot. I'd hardly say he's out for the season. God, the guy misses 2 games and suddenly he's back to being injury prone. ESPN is saying he's most likely out for the season

was nothing more than a big "f*** you" to the Sox and their fans...well, f*** you too Maggs.

Where's the Option to ask why is there even a poll about this?
-
Don't know what the Fuzz is, He's right. All those mentioned are washed up. Of course i've seen washed up players come back to have a 2 or 3 more good years but by most part he's right. We Sox fans gotta start to learn to move ahead without Frank in the picture, he wasn't gonna play forever and he'll be 38 yrs old next season. I apreciate what Frank did for this team but it's time to move on.

It never started on my behalf. That's what happens when people don't know what's up and talk. You may move on in peace

QUOTE(rangercal @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) dude, wtf is your problem? you use smileys to question every poll, thread and now posts. That within itself, is very annoying. If you don't like the thread, move on. What are you? Soxtalk Police? Or just trying to Kiss some behind?. Like the other poster said i din't say nothing, I just didn't understand something, I can post what i feel like you said.. IF YOU DON'T LIKE MY POST, SCROLL BY IT

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) The real key there is the if...BMac looks like he could be a great pitcher, but we haven't seen him in the playoffs. There is a big difference between shutting out the Red Sox today and facing them at Fenway in October. By the way...quick question...what does a pitcher have to do so that they no longer qualify as a rookie (and therefore are ineligible for the ROY award)? I'm wondering if BMac will have a shot next year...I think it's something like 125 at bats for a position player, anyone know for a pitcher? 1. No more than 40 Innings 2. Less than 140 At bats 3. Or less than 45 days on the Active Major League Roster

First Question NO. Barring injury Second Question Most Likely the Sox go with a 3-4 man rotation in the Playoffs 3rd. Duque has the playoff numbers But Contreras has earned it lately 4th Question Garcia starts game 3
