  1. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) is that both of those guys are considered aces yet we don't consider Buehrle an ace. Doesn't make much sense if ya ask me. I don't think either of them are aces. Our staff is 2 number 2 starters 2 number 3's and one number 5. Buehrle is a good pitcher but he's not an ACE.
  2. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) That's just what Josh does. In fact, I can't recall seeing a post other than a headshake or something to that end. That's his gig. Of course it is. I headshake at dumb polls and stupid threads. I answer when a poll is interesting as a thread. I mean c'mon It's so and SO's Birthday or Is he an ace or did garland wear blue underwear today.. HUH??
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) Jeckle is right. Buehrle and Garland have both choked on big fat ones. This is a playoff like series. And what have our two best pitchers done? I have no faith in either of these guys come playoffs. And that's if we make it. If the Indians win tonight, they're 6 1'2 games out with 6 games still to play against us. These next few weeks might get very ugly. Ok if were gonna talk choke how about Konerko and Everett?? Konerko absoluty blows with men on base. I mean 37 homers and 90 RBI's? he sould be over 100. Everett swings at everything in sight. The defense choked last night too. Eguchi being the main culprit of it. I agree on it getting ugly. Ozzie didn't help Garland any either keeping him in there
  4. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Than i guess Colon isn't an ace because he sucks against good teams. Also Johan Santana has well how do i say this lightly Struggled against the great Royals. :headshake Your Point is???
  5. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Sadly Garland choked away his CY Young chances today against the Angels... We got to see this years CY Young Bartolo Colon in action though... Choke??? Why is it that a player has a bad game and he chokes? Sheesh cut them some slack, if it was up to a few here the Darn team would go 162-0 and if they would go 161-1 some would still b**** :banghead
  6. QUOTE(rangercal @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) so I guess you have one, you complain about every f***ing poll :rolly why can't you use you're own advice then? My opinion is you whine too much Polls open the floods for a good debate. If the poll is an obvious question, everyone will agree with each other and the poll will die. If the poll is close to a split vote , most people will back up their vote with why they voted for the specific selection . Scroll up and you will see why I voted the way I did. I don't neccesarily care for birthday threads or posts of the month threads but, I don't go in those threads complaining of their existance. I move on. Whine?? LOL!! Check out who whines around here after every loss?? Move on.. So officer do so. I guess you have one, you complain about every f***ing poll You complain about every post of mine
  7. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) Halladay is going to be out of qualifying pretty soon. I think in the next couple days or so. Halladay won't qualify cause he's got 140 Innings and you have to have an inning for each game played by your team. The only way is that the season would end today and that ain't happening
  8. QUOTE(rangercal @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) This is a message board. You don't have to shoot down every poll. Obviously people are voting. So their is interest . If you don't like it, Don't vote. BTW I voted ace. He was good enough to start the all star game . He is having a tough spell right now , at the end of the year he will have an overall, good year. Don't forget he is still very young in age. He is one of the top 5 contenders for CY (even though he has no chance) . That is ace material imo. I talked to a few people at the sox tailgate in june, I think I remember all of us agreeing he is a strong # 2 but not an ace. I have to change my stance on that. Excuse me Soxtalk Police officer may i see your badge?. Again if you don't like my post use the lil scroll bar. And as yousaid this is a Message board so i have my opinion. Or is it that obnly a few opinions count? And on the Polls, I can forsee the Next one and heck i even forsee who's gonna create it. Next poll.. Garlands Season.. Fluke or Real thing YES OR NO
  9. QUOTE(rangercal @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) yes Why so? Don't aces go through bad times?? Sheesh A pitcher pitches poorly for a couple of starts and here come the polls and threads full of Panic. Sheesh Enjoy the damn season and stop complaining
  10. Does it really matter?
  11. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) but Buehrle has the top ERA in the AL. Just Because he has the Best ERA he's the CY YOUNG? Take the blindfolds off he ain't winning it
  12. :banghead
  13. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 02:39 AM) he will be in the top 5 who is better? Colon maybe but his ERA isn't as good. Buehrle has the best ERA in the AL. Santana to little to late. Rivera's team probably won't see the playoffs. Halladay isn't gonna qualify. So you tell me how he stays out of the top 5. Colon or Rivera will win. Garland will come in 4th. Colon, Rivera, Santana, Garland. May even add Cliff Lee in there too
  14. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) Probably a girlfriend. Far From it.... We could get another Icon too, but i'll keep that one to myself
  15. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) With this no-dec. Dunno about his Cy chances. Get off the Kool Aid, He'll be lucky to be in the top 8 I can give a Rodants Arse about the Cy Young. I want the World Series
  16. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) I don't really want the guy to be banned, I was just pointing out that his post falls into the gray area of "Personal Attacks" where on a different night, with a different moderator, things might be different. If you read the link to the original "Personal Attacks" thread, you'll see that that's my basic stance. Mods do a great job. A job I certainly wouldn't be able to do. Thanks. Maybe we sould get an Icon that looks like a Kiss...... I know what i would use it for
  17. He gave up the run, It was credited to him. It's his no matter who was on the mound
  18. Pitched last bnight walked 2 gave up a run
  19. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) I was watching Contreras dominate the hapless Royals on tv the other day and thought to myself...is this the best staff ever? I remember the '93 staff being on of the best in the league, wasn't old enough to remember the '83 team (born in '81) and didnt know that much about the Hitless Wonders of '06 or the last championship team '17. So I decided to do a little research and thanks to Baseball-Reference.com and ESPN.com I was able to put together some stats. When looking at them you have to take into consideration the different eras of baseball and the way pitchers were used. In the early days complete games were more prevalent and closers were not. I also included how they ranked in the league for that year in most categories so that should give a good feel of how to compare them. White Sox Pitching Comparisons In a nice little table for your viewing pleasure!! (If it gets a little out of the table just refresh it...dont know what happened to it) One thing that is really stands out to me is the number 1 or 2 in ERA all those years, no real dominate closer in 83 or 93 and having a 20 game winner in all of them except this year (so far). But on the sheer numbers alone...this staff is definitely one of, if not the best in Sox history!!! Even tho they didn't make the playoffs the 1967 staff was dominating and far from Shabby. 3 Pitchers in the top 5 in ERA
  20. JoshPR replied to WSoxMatt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) Shingo has been called up by the Mets and as pitched 2.1 scoreless innings so far, although he has been credited with a blown save, in the 7th inning. ANyway Good Luck to Shingo, he never made excuses, only blamed himself, a ture professional!!! Blew another Save today. Sayonara Shingo
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) Borchard really said nothing wrong. I am actaully rooting for Borch, hopfully he can come out and at least hold his own up here, and increase his value. A package of Marte, Borch and one of the SP's could bring alot back to this club....... GOOD RIDDANCE TO YOU BORCHARD
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) He's gonna miss 1 or 2 games with a sprained foot. I'd hardly say he's out for the season. God, the guy misses 2 games and suddenly he's back to being injury prone. ESPN is saying he's most likely out for the season
  23. was nothing more than a big "f*** you" to the Sox and their fans...well, f*** you too Maggs.
  24. Where's the Option to ask why is there even a poll about this?
  25. Don't know what the Fuzz is, He's right. All those mentioned are washed up. Of course i've seen washed up players come back to have a 2 or 3 more good years but by most part he's right. We Sox fans gotta start to learn to move ahead without Frank in the picture, he wasn't gonna play forever and he'll be 38 yrs old next season. I apreciate what Frank did for this team but it's time to move on.
