he's trying to say that we shouldn't care about the freedom to carry a bible where ever you please. He's saying that because there are more people being persecuted due to their sexual orientation than of carrying a bible, we should care about the first more than the latter. We should care about both, but that's hard to comprehend for someone that just wants to see anyone with a grain of faith be humiliated by some scientific proof or theory. There are things in this world that will never be explained so why not stick to a line of arguing that doesn't involve eliminating what you perceive as incorrect. I may not agree with the homosexual lifestyle but would never say "stop liking the dong, Jim." Where as, some how the opposite does not seem to be the prevailing thought.

I think that the ark thread and the other one from last week are great examples of how to peacably discuss matters intelligently. The problem we seem to run into is that some people aren't intelligent and don't want peace.

jim, I didn't mean to quote that cwsox comment when I said what I said. (I know he was being complimentary..) It's just hard to refute every little thing people said, and I think I've done a lot of growing from what has been discussed so far. anyway, I appreciate the things you have to say, just don't call me "bible bowl" because I may not know everything, like vince, but I don't just regurgitate what I've seriously taken time to study and understand. we cool? good. love this thread

kap, you and I would be friends... my only thing to add, is that the SPIRIT is THE authority not the bible. The bible is AN authority and a witness from the early church, although it is SPIRIT filled, so that's why I hold so much faith in it...just not ALL of my faith. I think we neglect the holy spirit more than anything these days. maybe it's just me. RE: being mocked.... I know I'm not the only one that feels the way I do about church, faith, etc... having 3-4 people dogging on me through out 10+ pages of threads isn't an easy task, so forgive me if I have "short guy" syndrome. (I'm actually 6'3" )

that's completely asinine and you know it. Yes, I believe community is essential to the christian life, but not essential to salvation. Professing the faith publically is part of salvation, and that's hard to do without anyone around, but I'm sure the trees and moss makes for great conversation. blech... welp, that killed the conversation.... *tag* I'm out edit: re:asinine :headshake
