  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) I refuse to believe that is real. No f'ing way. That is irresponsible.
  2. ok, I just heard the lamest thing in the world...... This woman is standing in line describing an e-vite she got for a "Paw-ty" for her dog. 25 pets are invited from a puppy play group and will get together with their animals for butt sniffing and feces tasting. (I added the last part) seriously, if you think that's a great idea....you're lame.
  3. C'mon... is that necessary? besides, I thought showing his warm and fuzzy side was the reason he was in court in the first place
  4. QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) well there's no way a woman would be on top of the gop poll I think they call that the "cowgirl".... wait, did I read that wrong?
  5. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) R.J. Parnell. Now you're just screwing people up. See that's WAY obvious now. You might as well have said Rob Reiner.
  6. QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) Who is Dunno and where can I learn more about his positions on the issues? of course it's a guy....friggin' sexist.
  7. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) I guess that's just it. Nobody in the field is suggesting they have it figured out. New discoveries and new tools beget new avenues of inquiry and the science continues to come of age. That's how it works. So when my cultural anthropology prof told me in class on numerous occassions that evolution was fact, he was full of s***, just like I was thinking when he said it? gotcha. I think a lot of people are suggesting a lot of things... being "right" is an ugly affliction that we as humans seem to suffer from quite uncontrollably. Gun to the head most normal folk will say "yes, I don't think we've fully figured things out"...I'm just making sure the proverbial gun gets passed around so BOTH sides see how ridiculous they can be.
  8. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) I said 'cool'. Nothing about back to the Future III was cool. Wrong Marty. Haha... ZZ Top is cool... and THEY'RE in BttFIII btw... Christopher Guest is the answer without giving away the answer, I don't want spoil the competition for others who want to guess.
  9. QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) Dude, give me a break. Your post was full of snark like "Ruh Roh" "the 'right' one" and "their 'knowledge'" What kind of reaction could you possibly expect? I wasn't surprised by the reaction. I just find it pathetically predictable at best. The ironic part is that I was implying that the church and science seem to both have the same thing in common: a candle at the bottom of the ocean when it comes to knowledge on the macro level. I was paralleling that fact that church's can't seem to agree on their own theology whilst science seems pretty factionalized in what the ARTICLE described as a war between two camps. THE AUTHOR OF THE ARTICLE gave it that title, not me. And Snark is the middle name of Soxtalk... so give ME a break. Again, in my brief comments following the article, I didn't really say WHAT I believed about all of it and was particularly vague for a reason (but you all assume I'm some bible thumping creationist). Honestly, I just find it amusing christian or pre christian when people think they have it figured out.
  10. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) Have a good time all the time. That's my philosophy, Marty. Mega cool points for identifying the quote WITHOUT Googling. Back to the Future part III
  11. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) That would be a half-million dollar question at the moment. But, no, after 150 years even a high-strength beer is going to be a bit past it's prime. Hey, wait. . . somebody check the freshness date on the bottle! I'm not sure I buy the seller's contention that this is the oldest known sealed bottle of beer in the world. Oldest industrial age commercial beer, perhaps, but Egyptologists have turned up sealed (not particularly well inmany cases) earthenware pots of beer that are thousands of years old. I would guess it's the quickest drink to puke ratio you could find, though....
  12. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) Anybody wanna go halvsies with me?? Museum Quality ALLSOPP's ARCTIC ALE 1852 SEALED/FULL!!! Lord, I thought Yuenglings were over priced.... could that beer ACTUALLY taste any good?
  13. A few more reflections on the past two days: *We (as Christians) need be the first in a social setting to reach across the racial divide. *What is truly difficult is to do "good" and be effective. *We are in a mind set of Charity and Philanthropy which places emphasis on the giver their "good feelings" and not the recipiant and their well being. *Most organizations suffer from "Not invented here" syndrome rather than support existing organizations that may in fact do the things you're passionate better in the first place. *Focus on a "Solution Model"; Heal the wound, not simply stop the bleeding *Us and not the government must make things happen. We cannot depend upon the government to get these things done. (my favorite from Michael Porter)
  14. hilarious thread that served my purposes well. The usual suspects so quick to 1) assume what I was implying, 2) defend something I wasn't questioning, 3) ridicule my personal beliefs and 4) ignore what I actually said after the article. The next time I get banned, I'll pull out this gem and give myself a laugh. PA likes to laugh. this is like Christmas, er, I mean Winter Solstice.

    Shower Soap

is it any wonder why there aren't more females around these parts? soap thread right next to a slow jerk thread...completely unrelated, I'm sure
  16. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 11:56 AM) :stick seriously though. If he doesn't go to a different barber every time, I'm sure there's an "oops" moment each hair cut. don't mess with food servers or hair cutters. That's my creedo.
  17. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) Carly Fiorina is a scary, scary woman. And not in any good way. She was in many ways the worst stereotypes of a big corporate CEO gone mad on power. How she could be looked upon as a church leader is beyond me. But other than that, I have to say, hearing those names speak about faith would probably be very interesting. I was impressed with Carly, but not without reservation. I wasn't sympathetic with why she was fired, except that she apparently didn't get much more than a note from a secretary, but it's not about touching feely emotions in the high powered corporate world. She reminded me of my mom. I, of course, shuddered.
  18. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 10:41 AM) That actually sounds like a pretty cool initiative. On the whole, church leadership can do with some pointers. Do me a favor though, if you're listening to a speaker you really disagree with, give him the slow jerk. omg.... I'm waiting on customers and trying to hold back the tears... It was a simulcast from Chicago. Where's South Barrington in comparison to where people are at? It's an amazing initiative because I'm not a huge Bill Hybels fan. You can't argue with his passion, however. Church leaders need to get a clue. Jim, are you familiar with Michael Porter?
  19. Me and the Mrs were asked last night by our very close friends (that we live next to) to be their four girls' guardians in the event that something were to happen to them. It was one of the most humbling and touching experiences in my life.
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 01:25 AM) I've never tipped for a haircut. so at least this explains the silly hair cuts...

    Shower Soap

I love the commercial about the bar of soap bragging to the shower gel about his "cool new hair"... it's ONE hair...and it's short and curly. That pretty much sums up why I stick to shower gels... The bar of soap went in the trash when I got married.
  22. Please hold your "Jesus" skepticism for a moment...I had to. This event is literally geared to pick the brains of some of the greatest leaders in the world to help close the gap of church leadership and cutting edge leadership skills and development. Colin Powell, Jimmy Carter, Michael Porter, Marcus Buckingham, Carly Fiorina...yeah. "Church" leadership conference on crack. The Website I attended this thursday and friday and I wouldn't dare do the speakers injustice by summarizing their words...especially because my head is still spinning. Just look at the names on that list. my favorite: Michael E Porter Anyone else attend? my goal will be to blog my summaries of the speaker's and my experience over the next week. stay tuned.
