The inevitable has occurred, Crede to Giants rumors

2009 Giants = 2008 Miami Dolphins? They went from worst to first with unnoticable free agent signings. -
Rod Blagojevich officially facing federal corruption charges

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) It shouldn't amaze me anymore, but the continual defense of the George W. Bush-like tactics of our incoming President being "defended" by the same people who constantly blast Bush for exactly the same thing is just simply hilarious. It's becoming delicious irony, to say the least. I believe the term "teflon" is becoming more common amongst the media regarding criticism of questionable behavior already by Obama and his retinue. -
Angels May Consider Trading For Dye or Paulie
klaus kinski replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Just imagine all the angst here about us being cheap if we lost both K Rod and Texiera in the same off season. The Angels are gonna have to replace the offense-especially with the crosstown Dodgers on the upswing -
I can see the North side team trying to get Matsui Does anyone know if the payroll of just the Yankee infield is more than several TEAMS total payroll in mlb?

Rumors: Sox/Reds Talking Dye for Bailey Swap
klaus kinski replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We are gonna lose bailey to another deal-while Rome burns & Nero (KW) fiddles It has happened to him before-for all the kudos he gets about making deals, he also has procrastinated himself out of players he has wanted in the past -
QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:38 PM) Calling Owens mediocre is an insult to actual mediocrity. lmao

Every year we get fired up for Winter Meetings and GM Meetings and all we get to hear about is Cub acquisitions and rumors. I am disappointed-we have gaping holes-and all we hear about is payroll.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) I'm not taking what he says at face value, as we have learned over the years, but if JR told him to cut payroll and he doesn't have anymore money to spend, what else is he supposed to do? Is he supposed to say that he doesn't believe the kids can get the job done, but there is nothing he can do about it because we are strapped on payroll? If he has no money to work with, he has to put on a brave face and say these kids can get the job done, even though I think everyone agrees here (including most likely KW) that counting on 5 young players who have not really stood out anywhere, won't get the job done. Sucks, but not much else that KW can say at this point. We just gotta hope we get some productivity from 1 or 2, hope the economy rebounds next year and go from there. I'm sure KW just misunderstood Reinsdorf when he said to lower ticket prices and raise the payroll- not raise prices and lower payroll like he is doing

Mets get Frankie Rodriguez 3 yrs 37 mil per ESPN

Scott Boras represents 16 free agents this offseason -- including such heavyweights as Mark Teixeira, Derek Lowe and Manny Ramirez -- but one player has left the Boras stable. Outfielder Corey Patterson has switched agents and is being advised this winter by Jim Bronner and Bob Gilhooley. Patterson, the former Cubs phenom, is now 29 years old and has a .291 career on-base percentage in nine seasons with Chicago, Baltimore and Cincinnati. So he's probably looking at a minor league contract with an invitation to big league camp.

A Look at how Kenny has done with trades.

Potentially too much turnover from a winning team-ala 2005-took 3 years to recover from that -

ESPN radio reporting Mets/White Sox talks heating up...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) An interesting part of the Atlanta deal is that by jumping the gun with a good offer for us, they may well have prevented the Mets from getting better via the trade route. There's always talk of those teams in the NL east trying to make sure they don't let the other teams build up an advantage. Wonder if that played a role in getting the Vazquez deal done; now the Mets and Sox are much worse matches. I thought this from the start-wish we could do something like this to the Twins or Indians -
Sox apparently not planning moves in Japanese FA mkt

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 12:32 PM) I'm not necessarily saying that, I'm just saying why even comment. Maybe he is saying the truth, maybe he isn't, but I don't see any value regardless. He could just say that we currently have no interest. Why cry poor..its not an argument fans like hearing, regardless of whether its true or not. I agree and if I didnt hear the word budget from their mouths the rest of the off season, it will be fine. -
A correct move

They just ran a crawl on ESPN from Gammons saying the Mets think they can sign Frankie Rodriguez for 3 yrs because "there are no other takers" -
"First of all, it's a continuation of a plan to get younger that started two years ago,'' Williams said Monday from Arizona. "But secondly, this was going to be needed anyway as a result of the economy. "We can't hide from it. At the end of the day, the bottom line is you can't spend a dollar if you only have 75 cents, and we're talking about millions here. "These are serious issues and we can't live with our heads in the sand.'' They obviously forgot this when THEY raised prices and made us pay in 2 installments instead of four. At least the part of the head that pertains to fans remains in the sand

I cant believe they are this insensitive to the economic conditions-What harm would come if they held the line a year? Guess the rich people are trying to recover stock market losses from us.

I've heard he's played some outfield and has a really good arm. This is great news-like a free agent signing-costs us ZERO players

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) I just talked with my rep yesterday about this (we ask every year to upgrade from 27 game plan to full season in our current location). Upgrades are expected to be done in December and/or January. According to our new rep (Natalie), renewals are already at 92%, and that's just from the postseason ticket buyers. That number will go up with some who didn't do postseason but still may renew. Then they go into new plan requests. So basically, upgrades will be hard to come by this offseason. But definitely contact your rep and see what you can do. Natalie is our new rep too-replacing Daniel who was pretty attentive.

Herb Score, a former pitcher for Cleveland and long-time announcer for the club, passed away at his home in Rocky River, Ohio on Tuesday. He was 75. Herb was an amazing pitcher for the Indians before being beaned by Yankees Gil McDougal and finished career with the Sox as a wild ineffective pitcher. I saw him pitch for the Sox- Before the beaning there he would have been one of the all time greats.
