With Alonso here and his deal officially announced on Saturday we'll probably have the Machado deal done on Sunday! Then Hahn can work on the Harper deal next week.

Was Castillo signed last year with the specific intent to help the signing of Machado this year? really?

I'd consider something like you propose. On the MLB program this afternoon I heard someone suggest that Harper might not sign until mid January. What if we don't get him. What does that do to other signings we may lose? I'm just saying if the Sox go in another direction it won't break my heart.
