  1. Sox Park was a dump until the renovations a few years ago. Back in its blue spaceship days.
  2. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) OUCH! This is going to sting: Marlins execs funneled cash to themselves The rest of the column is just as outstanding. Passan is awesome.
  3. Stretch! Streeeeeeeeetch! Streeee-etchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) I have a serious urge to go start finding all the people who said he was bound for the Hall of Fame and the remaining people like Sen. Bunning who said he was a wimp for not pitching and just start listing them. Do it.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) I hope he fails. His ineptitude in '06 cost us a playoff appearance. I thought, like Ozzie, that he was an obnoxious party boy who would've had a better career if he worked as hard as he partied. But how can you wish him failure because he can't hit for s***? I hope he does well for himself.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) How much did they lose during the previous couple years after that series run though? I'd doubt they had losses.
  7. The Rangers are up on Deadspin now, too. I'm surprised there isn't more coverage of this, or reaction.
  8. I guess Deadspin's getting into the journalism business: Part 1 Part 2 The site has published team financial records for the Mariners, Angels, Pirates, Rays, and Angels. I hope they have the White Sox and publish them later this week, or the Cubs. Quoting Deadspin:
  9. Outstanding catch -- one of the best I've ever seen, considering the context (a mediocre fielding going all out in a pennant race).
  10. Hey: trying to figure out how to look at pitchers' records against one another. Like: Buehrle v. Sabathia, or Lackey v. Grienke or something. Anyone know a quick and easy reference? More specifically, I want to look up Oswalt v. Zito.
  11. I forgot who it was -- probably someone from the Gates Foundation -- but it isn't that easy to give away money.
  12. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) why is it demeaning? seriously, i don't know. It's diminutive, meant to exert his control over the booth and his partner. It's the same behavior that led him to mock Wimpy out of town. Besides that, they're grown men calling a major league baseball broadcast. I guess it's not enough for Hawk to sound like a loop.
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) I hate it. Hate it, hate it, hate it. I hate it. I don't like it and I don't participate in it. It's only ever made me angry once, and that was at a Sox-Angels game where the score was tied, Sox were batting, it was the eighth inning, and for some reason people thought it'd be a good idea to do the wave and not pay attention to the ballgame. All I'm saying though is that the wave doesn't get killed at Sox games -- it happens, and often, especially when the stadium is more than half-full.
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:21 AM) I endorse this whole-heartedly, I actually feel kind of embarrassed when people start doing the wave and I get irritated when people repeatedly try to start it and the fans near them (rightfully) kill it each time by ignoring it. Can't take a hint. I see the Wave at every Sox game I go to, and it usually goes all around more than once.
  15. Was wondering if someone would take two pictures -- one of Roy Oswalt and one of Roy Halladay -- and make a banner over it, preferably in Phillies red, reading: "The Roys of Summer." Doesn't matter to me what two pictures of them you choose, provided they aren't deliberately bad. I like these two, personally: http://media.nj.com/yankees_main/photo/r....b322c_large.jpg http://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/famecrawler...walt_Roy_03.jpg But if you saw another two that would fit well in your opinion, do it. If someone would help me out with this, I would grant them total control of the project, aside from my previously mentioned desires.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) You know you'd want Chipper Jones. And Gavin Floyd too You know, I'm not that big a Chipper Jones fan. I just like the picture, and am not around ST enough to change it, I guess.
  17. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) So, who else is on your formerly secret mancrush team? Don't know if there are a lot of others. Oswalt and Halladay have the same first names, obviously, and are by coincidence my favorite righthanded pitchers and have been for years. I always thought Oswalt would be with Houston for most of his career but figured Halladay would leave Toronto at some point, and I always thought it'd be cool if they pitched together.
  18. I know it'll sound silly, but I've secretly wanted Roy Oswalt and Roy Halladay to be on the same team for a long time.
