QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 08:36 PM) Can Hawk just not say "stretch" ever again? Pretty soon, he's going to be doing it on infield fly balls. The one Hawk call I've always liked was "You can put it on the board!" although I'm so-so on his "Yesssssss!" But then, he added the second yes, so it's: "You can put it on the boarddddddddddddddd! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees! ........yessssssssss!" Like Mr. Kennedy or something.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:06 AM) He could be depending on how long he lasts. Santana's basically a lock. Maybe the only pitcher of the last decade that I think will make it in no matter what. One interesting thing about the current crop of top tier pitchers is that we're going to wind up with a lot of outstanding pitchers who aren't going to be very good in terms of counting stats. It'll be interesting to see how they get evaluated.

Taking a fan to their first game at the Cell . . .

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) Get club box seats. The view's not the best but you get private bathroom areas, A/C, plasma TV, an optional buffet, and your own waitress and food menu at your seat. Why does a person need a plasma TV and a waitress at a baseball game? -
I hope Oswalt gets traded soon. I want him to go to Philadelphia, but I'd be happy if he went to St. Louis.

I'm not sure how anyone can ever take Andrew Breitbart seriously again. I'm not sure why anyone would take him seriously in the first place.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) He wasn't sharp. To be honest with you, I felt like I was robbed. Sat behind homeplate. Got to watch my favorite pitcher get lit up. Kind of an okay time, but a real let down.

Have the White Sox ever had a better defense?
Gregory Pratt replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Isn't Konerko second worst at first in UZR? Anyway, I absolutely love watching Vizquel play defense, and Alexei's not bad either. -
But they're not saying missionary or else.

Heading up to Wrigley to watch Roy Halladay pitch. Cue Southside.

These are the moments, win or lose, that make watching baseball worth it. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) I call BS. You said gutsy outing, not inning. Typo. I love Danks. Always have. But gutsy post calling me out, bro.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) I'm pissed at him too, but jesus...it's one start people... Not sure I understand... I thought it was legitimately gutsy for him to go out and get those guys out that inning.

gutsy performance by Danks

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) The deranged hillbilly that describes the action has zero to do with team allegiance.

YOUR FIRST PLACE CHICAGO WHITE SOX!!!

Remind me of the 2005 Astros. -
Halladay v Wainwright v Jimenez v Johnson. I also have Lincecum as a dark horse. Make a pick! Don't look now, by the way, but Halladay's lowered his ERA below Ubaldo's in 21 more innings. It's been an amazing year for pitching.
-
it's definitely an awesome and fun run.

Gotta love the Rangers' willingness to go for it, especially when you see other teams refuse (Minnesota every year, the Dodgers this year with their similar-to-Texas financial situation)

QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) In my important papers are the login and passowords to a few sites for my family to notify. There have been several posters here who have dropped from postiong (NukeCleveland), and we never know if they got pissed off, bored, or worse. I believe Nuke once told me over PM that he had his family know to notify ST and other White Sox communities if something bad happened to him. I sure hope he's fine, wherever he is.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) LOL, half a game out in July and the Sox aren't legitimate contenders? So far, only you and Keith Law seem to be in that boat. Sox of course may not win the division, probably a 50% shot at best, but to say they aren't contenders is ridiculous on its face. No team that's in the standings where the Sox are at this point can be counted out as a legitimate contender. They're contenders for the division. They are nevertheless a bad team. They are not legitimate World Series contenders. And Oswalt is 100% right to not want to come here. That's all I have to say about that.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:09 PM) So he wants individual wins, but he doesn't care if his team wins? That is not, as you know, what I wrote. This team probably won't make the playoffs. They were dog s*** for 2 months then got hot. The Tigers and Twins are both contentedly mediocre. Our offense is and will remain atrocious. There are good things about the team, sure, but this is not a legitimate contender. And I think you and every other person who's going to be offended by my post in defense of Oswalt knows that.
-
Dude wants to win, but going to the White Sox is not a sufficiently good place to do that. If he wants to pitch for a lousy offensive team, he can just stay in Houston. Why would he uproot mid-season to play in a bandbox with a bunch of guys who can't hit?

Bigger question -- what the f*** are ESPN and LeBron James doing associating with the "University" of Phoenix?
-
why does he say "uhmmmm" at the start of every sentence?
