QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) Take away Garcia's starts against the Cubs, Twins and Angels, 3 of the weakest offenses, (the Angels were really struggling when the Sox faced them) and what is Garcia's ERA? He wasn't rushed that game vs. Toronto. I happened to be there. He was getting lit up in the 5th. Ozzie left him out there for the win. It almost cost the Sox a win. You have to be concerned about Garcia and Garland. Neither have been that sharp this year. Freddy was on a hot streak for a while, but hasn't won since he beat the Cubs, and has looked bad lately. Garland has been terrible, so terrible that people actually get enthused about a 6 inning 5 ER 3 homerun allowed performance. With the bullpen as weak as it is, the Sox are going to need more out of their starters, although I heard today on ESPN that White Sox starters have pitched the most innings in the major leagues. Its cause for concern. Garcia had 1 or 2 pitches go 94 on the USCF gun today, but most between 89-91. That gun is known to be quick. He also hit 106 on it once. Umm, I was at that Toronto game, too, and he absolutely was rushed. They were rushing to get through the top of the fifth because it was raining incredibly hard. Maybe you weren't watching, but he didn't get "lit up" as much as he couldn't grip well, the hitters couldn't hit well, the field wasn't fit for playing well, and a bad inning was had by all.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) Alright. I'll admit, I didn't realize it was only Cleveland and Toronto that he's really struggled with. So what's the conclusion then? That he can dominate weak hitting teams like the Cubs and Angels? While getting lit up by the good hitting teams? I mean, he's probably gonna face the Indians 2-3 more times this year. Is it gonna be ok if he continues to get killed as long as he does the job against the crap teams? Very often you win your division feasting on crap teams, average teams and above average teams.

Des Moines Register Dem. Presidential Poll

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 08:05 PM) Bayh has a much better chance than either Vilsack or Richardson. National polls I have seen show Bayh as 3rd or 4th, and Vilsack and Richardson are nowhere to be seen. Clearly you don't know politics. Using 1992 as an example, Paul Tsongas was polling better than Bill Clinton because Clinton dodged the draft, had sexual relations with Gennifer Flowers, and was the Governor of a "small state". Clinton went on to win the Presidency, even though he was a little known candidate. We could go all through history with this: James K. Polk. Jimmy Carter, for two other examples. Just because people are unknown pre-Presidential race doesn't mean a damn thing. I am confident enough to say that Muskie couldn't have won where Carter did, Tsongas would fail where Clinton didn't. I like Bayh. Very much. But Presidential races are long, grueling affairs, and being unknown isn't that much of a handicap. Certainly not in climates like today's which are conductive to newer faces. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) It's a system of cameras placed in select stadiums used to grade umpires. Curt Schilling could explain better. Hahaha, I read about that. But I guess it's not used in-game, then, but afterward to punish umpires?
-
Apparently it's something for umpires to use to watch the corners? What is it, and how does it work, and is it used in-game?

I was talking up Barry Zito, but we probably don't have what it takes to pry him away.

QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) I've been on his bandwagon since 2004. Too bad Ozzie doesn't respect him. Too bad we have two of the best players in baseball at that position ahead of him. Bench Thome. Or Konerko! -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) They would have NO interest in Garland or Garcia, there's a reason why they're trading Zito. Beane does not overpay for SP unless his name is Loaiza. Yeah, and Garland is way overpriced. Shame, I'd love to see Zito. Now you're just being silly. Have your fun while I put you on Ignore right. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) That might be the most unrealistic trade ever proposed. Hahaha, I thought as much. Maybe Garland with some prospects, Garcia with some prospects. They want to unload them, we know that. -

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) Actually, I said nothing angry (except to suggest you were angry if you count that) and I don't recall saying anything about Freddy in the game thread. And thank you for your support. Who said you said something angry? I'm putting you on ignore because you don't make any sense.
