  1. QUOTE(CardsJimEdmonds15 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) Keep it up You'd better return the favor when your boys face Detroit.
  2. I'm hoping for a Prior return on Sunday.
  3. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) He meant Newark.
  4. Giuliani is a mediocre man, IMO. A mediocre mayor, too. I like Lieberman, and hope he beats out his challenger. And finally: I'm happy to see that some other people hate John McCain, too. I loathe that man.
  5. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 11:34 AM) To the people in favor of this amendment ... Do you realize that changing the constitution in anyway requires a constitutional convention? Do you realize that if and when a convention is called, they will not just vote on this one item and adjourn? Do you realize that once the convention begins, anything and everything is fair game? They don't have to go through this tough criteria on each issue, just the first one. Once the convention starts, they could theoretically gut the constitution as it currently stands. Replying to the boldened portion: No, actually, it doesn't. That's so flat out wrong as to be laughable. There are, I believe, four ways to get a Constitutional Amendment passed. "A Constitutional Convention" is not going to result from this, and it isn't what is required to change the Constitution "in any way." Not in the least. A national convention called by the states to discuss anything and everything under the sun is never going to happen, and it surely won't occur from this. It can, but you read about it. Thanks for trying. ------------- As for this amendment, it's laughable. It's ridiculous. And this was the best take, IMO: QUOTE(Balance @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 09:17 AM) Is there a rash of flag-burnings going on in the US that I'm simply not aware of? Is there a need for this amendment? ----------- SoxBadger: You've gotta be kidding me if you think the Supreme Court will ever have a Court that will be willing to review the Constitutionality of an Amendment. It isn't explicitly forbidden from doing so, certainly. That doesn't mean a Court ever will. The consensus is, to fill you in on reality, is that the Amendments are the Constitution. You can't rule something that's a part of the Constitution to be unconstitutional. You can't say, "Well, it's Unconstitutional to have an age requirement for the Presidency, and that's found in the ninth amendment." You arguing that the Supreme Court would, or should, strike an amendment down is absurd and wholly without merit.
  6. Make that four. I accidentally voted for the Tigers. >____________ By the way, I've been excited to hear that Prior might be back Sunday. I hope that he is.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) He has retired 7 in a row now. He has, to be sure. I still think there are some serious questions to be asked about his heat.
  8. I'm not sure if I believe that he made a "personal decision" to start pitching with control when he'd been a power pitcher all his life. I wonder if this is steroids or injury related, as you don't lose five MPH in the prime of your career out of nowhere.
  9. It's time for the Cubs to rally!! The Rally.....Bartman Holy crap, it hurts to watch Pierre hit. Oh, my God. These guys are awful.
  10. At least tonight, if Freddy gives up some blasts, he'll be able to take them deep in return!
  11. Too bad we're not seeing Bronson Arroyo. Brian Anderson could take some batting advice from him!
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) Isnt there a difference between tough and stupid... because playing in a wrestling match rather than get your ear re-attached comes off to me as more stupid than tough. Is boxing stupid, or is that okay because it's "real" and wrestling is a fake something that you play at?
  13. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 08:56 AM) Okay and that begs the question, why does the league tell them to do that? It's the wussification of baseball.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 05:59 PM) Nope. The facts are that our catcher was thrown at twice, we retaliated, but for some reason we tried to do it with a pitcher that has no control, so he missed target twice before getting a groundout. What is also fact and not debateable is that Ozzie made an ass of himself by chewing out a player for failing to be a goon in plain view of T.V. cameras, and that Hawk made an ass of himself by talking big about how he would meet Padilla after the game or some s*** if he played. Yeah Hawk, and Padilla would have kicked your ass, just like a lot of people annoyed by your homerism would like to do often times. (note: bolded part=editorializing) I said you were editoriolizing in your response to the post. You responded with this to say that you weren't editorializing. I was just teasing, although you very well weren't giving anything resembling objectivity. Because that's not opinion at all. That said, I agree with you that Ozzie looked quite primitive while throwing his bottle and shrieking at one of his players across the dugout, but that's very much an opinion and not a fact.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) Ozzie and our broadcaster made complete asses of themselves, and the fanbase for the most part ignored it and jumped to their defense. You sir are editorializing when he asked for news!!
  16. Guillen tells Tracy to bean Blalock. Tracy misses. (There's debate as to whether he disobeyed orders, half-assed his attempt, or merely missed due to his poor control.) Guillen throws water bottle. Pulls Tracy from game after 1 batter (Blalock, who grounds out). Is seen yelling across the dugout at Tracy, who looks sad, pulls his shirt over his head, and is generally moping. Tracy gets sent down. Refuses comment in the media.
  17. Nothing's wrong with asking him to hit Blalock. Everything's wrong with throwing a temper tantrum with your water bottle and shrieking across the dugout at a rookie player in public.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) There is absolutely nothing bad about this trade, I don't understand how you can't be excited. I'm not mourning Lopez, by any means. I'm just saying that Riske's injuries this year make me a little less than enthusiastic about him staying healthy for the year. If he can, then by all means it's great, and if he can't, we certainly haven't lost much, but I'm not too excited until he's played a few games with us and stayed healthy for us.
  19. I'm not as willing to celebrate this as others are, because Riske is a major injury risk. If he stays healthy, it's gravy, but I'm not so that'll be the case. He seems quite screwed up to me.
  20. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:07 PM) Motivation for a crime should affect a punishment, but it should not be a crime unto itself.
  21. I thought it said, "for Javier Vazquez" for a minute, heh. Looks like a good deal.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) I said it before and I'll say it again. IMO Ozzie Guillen is similar to Dusty Baker when it comes to handling young players, he completely demoralized Tracey today possibly mentally f***ing the guy for years to come. Anytime you see a guy like Tracey having to burry his head in his jersey after being removed from the game you know there's something wrong. I'm disgusted with Guillen's handling of Sean here.
  23. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) He did. He just missed. He's a pussy. I wonder if he didn't even want to hit him! What a b****!
  24. In wrestling, Tommy Dreamer broke his neck and wrestled for years not knowing that it was broken until a doctor told him, and he still hasn't gotten the surgery he needs yet wrestles. He's Hardcore!
