QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) At least he's not like Barry "I don't do things for white people" Bonds That doesn't make him racist. If we weren't so oppressive toward minorities he wouldn't have to fight the power!

This asshole on Comcast needs to shut the f*** up. This guy with white hair on the pre-game. He was talking about the bullpen, and said, "Boone Logan and Bobby Jenks had an excellent world series but haven't proven themselves." You know, basic fact-checking errors. What a s***head. (That is to say, I know they're unproven, but Boone Logan wasn't in the World Series, tiger. ) -

Remember on Opening Night, at the beginning, when the Sox were getting the banners unfolded and were introduced -- remember the Organist version of Don't Stop Believing that was so beautiful? Anyone know where I can get the audio of it? Anyone got it, by any chance?

Maybe they were talking about Sweeney? Or the Ninety Year Old Reggie Sanders? I hope we murder their team today and Pierzynski or someone else (last year I'd think of Everett) does a little taunting.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) I've got them finishing second in the crummy NL Central. I think they can win it. I think they'll be the Wild Card, provided Atlanta wins the Division in the East. Otherwise the Braves'll be the Wild Card.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) The Sox had more than enough chances to win that game after the Hafner home run. And giving up a HR to Hafner isn't exactly an idictment on any pitcher. Logan had gotten him out before, too. -

Sox v. Kansas City, 4/7/06, Garland v. Affeldt
Gregory Pratt replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2006 Season in Review
I, for one, feel good about all our Starters except for Garcia. I think Garcia will be okay, but I need to see it because he was throwing like a woman in his last ST start and in his first season start. Garland got pissed off with Ozuna's error and lost his temper. That's a big no-no for pitchers. And he wasn't using his changeup as much as I'd like. He was fine before that inning, and I think he'll be fine over all. Buehrle is an Ace. I don't worry about him anymore than I worry about Barry Zito or Andy Pettite. Contreras was fine. A rough first inning, but the rest was fine. We'll see about Javy today, but I've always thought he's a beast of a pitcher. I feel good about our bullpen, too. I'm not willing to curse Logan or Thornton, and I don't think anyone else should be, personally. -

OZUNA IS A SNAKE ON A PLANE! God, that was a rough inning. Garland's doing well, though, I think. -

As long as they improve my record from 0 wins, 0 losses, 1 tie, I'm happy! Maybe Ozuna can get another clutch HOMERUN for us? Loosen up everyone. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) If I were you, I wouldn't quit. Have a talk with your coach and see what's going on. It's always better to ask up front than to complain and just quit. Work hard and your game and there is no reason not to get PT. He refuses to talk to me about any of this. Just shrugs me off and says he's got to take care of his other players first. The funny thing is that I never complained about any of this until about two days ago, and at that point he just told me to suck it up and maybe I'll get playing time. I don't need his bulls***, so I quit. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 09:17 PM) Are you serious? You know, man, I think I am. He has no plans for me to play any serious amount of time, he cuts short my warmup time, he even took away my jersey. I was number forty two for our away jersey. He gave us our home jerseys. For that, he gave my 42 to someone else. Gave me fifty. I told my friend who got 42 if he'd mind trading with me, so my uniforms could match, with the Coach's consent. He said, "What jersey did I give you?" and I said, "50" so he said, "Then that's what you'll wear." Funny, because before, with the Away jersey, he'd let me choose my own. Told me that I'd have to play with two different numbers. And then he TOOK AWAY my 42 because "It was Jackie Robinson's number." I said, "Yeah, but this isn't the Major Leagues. And players here have worn it before." He shrugged and took it from me. I like forty two. THEN we were in the locker room and got our white pants. I'd changed, was fully dressed, and he says, "Take your pants off and give them to Nate. He's a better player and needs smaller pants. You take his pants," and gave me pants five times too big. I tucked in, didn't complain, whatever. It's a sport, and I'm new, and I can get by with big pants. Well, I did. Got out ready to play. He didn't play me. Told me he'd give me at least an at-bat. Didn't give it to me. Moved me from Left Field and Center Field, where I feel I belong, and put me in Second. When I wasn't good at first, benched me and made me be his catcher when typically another Coach does that for him. He has no serious intention of ever letting me play. He's taken me from the positions I feel comfortable playing. He takes away my uniforms. He's a mother f***er, and if I were in the cards for the team then I'd stay but he doesn't intend to play me! I've got no problem practicing with friends individually and playing with others autonomously of HS baseball. It's better than being a Benchwarmer because my coach won't give me a chance because he wants to play the role of Dusty Baker. -

I know it's a little bit early, and I apologize to anyone offended by that. I don't mean any harm. I've just got a day off of school tomorrow (and the start of my Spring Break) so I wanted to start this up today. The last thread I started was in Spring Training when the Sox faced the Cubs, but don't worry -- I have no goal of abusing thread starts. Okay, the last game I made the thread for. You remember the tie-game? Yeah. That was me! Okay. Jokes aside, Garland takes the mound and gets his chance to show that he's not a one-hit wonder. Contreras did it against the Indians despite a rough first, and now it's Garland's time. On the other side, the Royals throw left-handed Jeremy Affeldt, and it looks to be a good solid matchup. Traditionally, Garland has killed the Royals but has struggled at Kaufman. The game will be aired on Comcast Sports Net at seven o clock. -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) He's on the DL. He could be out as long as 5 weeks. I hope so. We should take every break we can get.

QUOTE(chisoxdavid @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 05:19 PM) NOOOOO! This has got to be the worst maybe best thing that can happen to me, I just found out my gf is pregnant. Im gonna have to start saving money, but before that Im gonna have to do the scout seat thing just not with the gf, Ill see if any friends want to go with me. Maybe she cheated on me and the kid is not mine j/k. OMG what the hell am I gonna do? Not about the pregnancy but about the scout seats, We are gonna keep it. Looks like I will be trading in friday night games for kids days in a few years. Son, don't ask yourself what you're going to do about scout seats. You've got bigger problems now.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) I agree with you. I think count might be our # 2, but was bumped due to his allergic reaction on his face the other day. No. They had, errantly I thought, set Garcia up for number two start all along.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 09:43 AM) El Duque did look good last night and his fastballs were touching hte 90's. But he looked good for us last year a couple times, especially starting the season or coming off the DL when he was rested. Arizona has to hope he's more recovered from his shoulder problems. And Oakland has started Thomas 3 games in a row. In my mind, unless you don't want to have to pay him the incentives because he's hurt, this is insanity, and I don't care who you're playing or how bad your lineup looks without him. Frank should rest at least 1/3 games, otherwise you're just playing with fire. But he's in his prime!
