BA really looks no different up at the plate than last year. Other than the number. Didn't he change his mechanics? -
QUOTE(Beltin @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) I see your point but a manager, whether it be in baseball or financial analysis is supposed to be something of a mentor to those that report to him or her. Part of being a mentor requires patience with younger, less experienced team members. Those guys are going to have a lot of energy and enthusiasm, but they are also going to make mistakes along the way. Some egos are more fragile than others. If the manager rides the young guy enough, he could break his spirit and mess up his confidence. Obviously, someone so fragile that they can't handle constructive criticism is not a guy you want on the team anyway. However, Ozzie is broadcasting shortcomings in a very public forum. I am not saying it is hurting morale of the team overall, but the potential is definitely there. I understand your point as well and I think it just comes down to the individual. For example, my former manager where I work was also my mentor. I came to this job as a college grad who had tendancies to still go ut and party and what not. Well, after missing some days of work, my boss and mentor threw it out there that I miss work for party reasons, in one of our meetings with many higher level people. I was present at this meeting. Granted he said it in a joking matter and everyone more or less got a kick out of it. But to me, inside, I knew he had a point, and that I had things I needed to fix. I don't care one bit about the way he went about saying what I did wrong, it just motivated me to hurry and get it right. Knowing that he cares enough about me and my success to send out a little message here and there, ultimately made me feel good. Just a week ago ozzie was saying good things about Brian, and I highly doubt he doesn't want him to be successful, he just has his own way of doing things and I think we all have to respect that.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) But...but....the Tribune was reporting how great he looks. Ur talking about physical looks right? Its the trib so they were probably directing that to all the ladies at wrigley cause cotts is a pretty boy ya know.

When it comes to gameday, on the field, I highly doubt that any of our players are sitting there thinking about some off the wall comment made by Ozzie at one point another. I know many of us have played competitive sport in our lives and when you are playing games, nothing else matters and you get caught in the competition within the game. If anything, things that are said, should motivate people. The players who sucked last year didn't suck cause of what Ozzie said. Plain and simple when things are going good, he's a hero, we don't win last year, and he is an a@@. Im 26 years old and as far as im concerned, Ozzie was a big part of fulfilling a dream of mine, seeing the Sox win the World Series. I do financial analysis and Ozzie manages a baseball team. I won't tell him how to do his job, and I wouldn't listen to him tell me how to do my job.

Appearently Cotts thinks he is still in spring training with the Sox 1 inning 4 hits 3 runs e earned runs Just caught that on the MLB scoreboard.

Is it on the score?

I've seen the Dye cover and now the Thome cover, any PK out there? Crede would be nice too?

QUOTE(CarlosMartinez @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 12:17 PM) Not sure, I was playing exhibition. Now that I think about it, I noticed it in my first game which was in "play now" mode. So im not really sure I'f I did see it in my next game. How bout when you start a game at 7pm, it starts out sunny and bright and slowly gets dark. The sun even reflects at the right levels in the stadiums. Ridiculous!!!
-
QUOTE(CarlosMartinez @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 12:05 PM) For those who see the Sox logo in the outfield, are you playing an exhibition game or franchise game? I played at the Cell and had no logo. Mine were exhibition games. Are you saying in Franchsie mode it won't be like that?

The last time I played any baseball game seriously was MVP 04 but ever since I got the X Box 360 I have been excited about this one coming out. With my first game, I was completely amazed! Other than the fact that I couldn't hit, kept throwing the ball in the dirt, and my fielding sucked, everything else was great. The cure for my problems was simply to play the cubs in game 2 where Tad had 3 home runs (2 off Big Z 1 off Howry) and Crede also had one against Z. All in all great game and Mark B. led the way to a 5-2 victory. -Graphics are amazing -Learning the "swing stick" is a bit tough, after first being frustrated I switched to classic style batting but now I am forcing myself to learn to swing stick cause when you do get hits, it feels much better knowing you did what you are trying to do. -The cell is okay, the focus on the players themselves makes me not worry too much about the blue scoreboard or the Sox cut in the outfield grass. By the way, the pregame where it shows the outside of the cell is unreal. -Pitching is awesome, especially with Jenks reaching triple digits. -Announcers are great, although sometimes its tough to follow them cause you constantly hear the PA announcer in the background. All I can say is I need to get back home from work and get to gettin a season mode ready.

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 09:02 PM) I had it freeze on me once already today :/ Same here, during my first game. Wasn't too happy. Mostly cause I couldn't pitch or hit though. Starting to get the hang of it and it's a pretty damn good game. Mark B. got a hit!!
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) Has anyone played this on 360 yet? I'm getting one next weekend and cant wait to play. The game is sitting in my car while im at work and it is driving me crazy. I have 360 and will be postin in a few hours once I get home to play.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) Sadly, yes. They did a pretty poor job of replicating the Cell IMO. That sucks! I guess the bright side is when you are pitching, the camera is behind the pitcher so you don't see it half the game. Not too worried about the Cell, I'd rather have the gameplay and the tendancies of the players more than anything. Hopefully next year they will get it the scoreboard right, but then they will probably have blue seats.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) Yeah, I'm still in the phase of fixing player ratings, I've played one game so far and I can already tell the controls are going to take some getting used to but there's some pretty cool features that have already impressed me such as the batter's interface and the way pitches break (much more realistic than previous games.) The Cell walls are green and the alternate jersyes do have the white piping. Is the scoreboard blue?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) Some curious ratings on this game. (Player) (Overall rating) Buehrle - 92 Vazquez - 89 Contreras - 86 Garland - 83 Floyd - 71 Bobby Jenks - 88 MacDougal - 75 Thornton - 69 Andrew Sisco - 67 Boone Logan - 65 Sean Tracey - 64 David Aardsma - 63 Konerko - 100 Thome - 100 Dye - 100 Crede - 94 Iguchi - 89 Erstad (FA) - 83 Podsednik - 82 Uribe - 81 Hall - 80 (why?) Pierzynski - 79 (why?) Cintron - 78 Mackowiak - 73 Ozuna - 71 Anderson - 64 Fields - 63 Owens - 60 Sweeney - 60 Terrero - 60 -others- Garcia - 87 Rowand - 88 McCarthy - 80 Team Rankings 1.) Yankees (All 5* ratings) 2.) Mets 3.) Red Sox 4.) Angels 5.) Dodgers 6.) Tigers (Offense: 5*, Defense: 4.5*, Pitching: 4.5*, Speed: 2*) 7.) Cubs (Offense: 5*, Defense: 5*, Pitching: 4*, Speed: 5*) 8.) Phillies 9.) White Sox (Offense: 4*, Defense: 3.5*, Pitching: 4.5*, Speed: 1.5*) 10.) Athletics 11.) Braves 12.) Cardinals 13.) Padres 14.) Indians 15.) Brewers 16.) Blue Jays 17.) Giants 18.) Mariners 19.) Orioles 20.) Rangers 21.) Marlins 22.) Astros 23.) Reds 24.) Twins 25.) Diamondbacks 26.) Nationals 27.) Rockies 28.) Devil Rays 29.) Royals 30.) Pirates I agree, some of those are questionable. I picked up the game at lunch and was reading the manual, good thing is you can increase/decrease players ratings by performance in certain situations in the game. One example is the "payoff pitch", such as striking someone out in a 3-2 count, doing this will increase player ratings. Gonna need a few hundred of those to get Gavin up to where he needs to be, should be fun season.

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 12:36 PM) just picked it up at gamestop and of course, have to skip the rest of my classes for the day to enjoy it. I'll report back later Im getting it on lunch, and I think im coming down with the flu. Might have to miss the rest of work today. I will report back as well. I'll have Xbox 360 version if anyone has any questions

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 10:16 PM) so apparently this game comes out tommorow? I could've swore it was next week. Yep, they decided to ship it a week early. I'll be at Best Buy on lunch tomm.

http://media.sports.ign.com/articles/767/767428/vids_1.html Check out 2 of the clips from this link. Im all about the game being as close to real as possible, and it looks like they have done a great job of capturing the player tendancies. Watch Konerko bat, AJ swing, it's sick how real it looks. Not too concerned about the jersey situaiton, it's their alternate jersey anyways. Maybe the Sox changed there jersey's and MLB 2K7 was the first to know.
