  1. I still don't feel we need a complete rebuild. One because there isn't a farm system out there that could supply the necessary pieces to acquire the likes of Sale, Abreu and Quintana and two because while we're bad this year we're not so broken that it can't be fixed. A couple of things I was clamoring for Grandal to be picked up desperately by this front office and everything in his advanced metrics in addition to health and getting the hell out of SD pointed to an insane amount of positive regression which i pointed out extensively in offseason posts. In addition to that I wanted the sox to go after Kang and Maeda hard, and while they did some home work with Maeda they dropped the ball on Kang, He very well could've been a solution at 3B, SS, 2B for us as well, and this isn't revisionist history either, for the amount of money spent on a known albeit s***ty entity in Bonifacio they could've had Kang. My hope is they'll do their collective homework with the KBO going forward but i won't hold my breath. Very few on this board predicted us to be atop any standings if anything I would say the majority of us felt that we could possibly be a dark horse if everything broke right, and honestly even with our offense being nearly historically bad we're still not out of the play off picture at 4 back. The sox going forward need to be patient with Thompson, the Johnsons' and Avi unless they're going to spend on an big time free agent like Heyward. Our pitching is good and will continue to get better, I would let shark walk this offseason and pick up the pick. Rodon, Fulmer, Johnson and Montas are going to have to take their lumps in the majors like everyone.
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 07:43 PM) cespedes stat wise, it has been dropping since his rookie yr. this yr, it was a nice rebound, but was that b/c he concentrated this yr?? i don't trust it and esp with a yrs and salary needed to sign him. heyward, now what will it cost to sign him. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cespeyo01.shtml I can respect that, sox real payroll next year is close to 93M and they're at 116M this year, last time they recently eclipsed that was 2011 at 128M. Not taking into account inflation or new sports deals the sox have money. If they can put on a playoff run even more so.
  3. 37 pitches, 8 to get through the inning.
  4. Heyward will only be 26 to start the season next year and Cespedes will be 30 without a pick attached to him.
  5. Longoria has got to be thinking f***...it isn't as bad as Miami but f***...
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) 1. i like the idea of offering shark a QO. 2. look into of'ers who was not offered a QO 3. key on 2 of'ers who may or may not been offer a QO. ~ Denard Span ~~ Austin Jackson 4. look at a possible of 1 sp who was not given a QO. Span has been on my short list. Essentially to me its Heyward and if not then go hard after Cespedes because of the lack of pick attached to him followed by Span. I agree about pitching as well in a perfect world Latos. I would really like to see the sox look hard at the KBO; Jae-won Lee, strikes me as a intriguing option at catcher. He is 27 will be 28 at the start of next season right handed hitting catcher that also moonlights at 1B, similar profile to Jason Kendal minus the speed. Brian Cartwright a Writer/Analyst at The Hardball Times compares the KBO to AAA and this is the year he is putting up right now .301/.390/.444 - 11BB% / 15K% with 10HR in 374PA. With the recent Success of Kang and the positional scarcity of catching I could see his price tag going up a bit but not to astronomical amounts, and before we get into the "language barrier" issue just remember Kenji Johjima. Jae has been in the KBO for 9 years and I'm pretty sure he has also met the armed service requirement, He should be able to be posted or an outright FA.
  7. offer him a QO and go after one of the corner outfield bats, Heyward, Cespedes or Upton. we stay pick neutral and depending on how this season plays out we might have another top 10 pick.
  8. Sending him down would be foolish, he needs to learn at the major league level in a rotation with out fear of being demoted and spending time consistently with the catchers and Coop. He has nothing left to prove at AAA. I too would like to see EJ come up and make a return if for nothing else to limit exposure of Danks and to keep Rodon's innings in check. If we continue our push to the WC #2 Ej could be a very valuable asset down the stretch, its nearly time to see if his FB has gotten a few of its tick's back and if it was a case of the yips or if he was truly hurt; He still has high / middle rotation potential and a future with this organization.
  9. Really like the draft so far, Sox sticking to what they know, pitching and lots of it, Love the Fulmer, Stephens and Hickman picks. Avi and Eaton's addition to the sox have shown we can getting hitting thru other channels so just keep developing quality pitching and we'll be fine.
  10. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 07:03 PM) Wooo, posted all last two years about wanting Rodon and Fulmer, got them both I know the feeling well #roadtorodon
  11. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 06:59 PM) Sale/Q/Rodon/Fulmer/Someone Else I love it. Danish/Montas/Adams...whomever now we just need to develop some hitters.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 06:45 PM) Who did they take in 05 that the Sox wanted? Bard
  13. Twins with Jay....well here we go..will boston f*** us again like they did in '05?
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 06:28 PM) Red Sox are the team that scares me the most. They have a tendency to f*** teams over. Daniel Bard....
  15. Rodgers is the pick, that opens up Jay as a potential fit for the sox.
