  1. The Alexei of old would've finished that play cleanly.
  2. Yankee broadcast have been very complimentary of Trayce these past two games.
  3. s*** base running by garcia, some how manages to beat the play but over runs first base awkwardly... Michael Kay and company were tearing into him that AB, his swing and miss % is the highest in the bigs at 17% ml average is 10....luckily Montas might just single handedly save that trade.
  4. nice AB by trayce, swinging at the strikes letting the balls go; what a unique perspective to hitting...
  5. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) Rodon and Trayce.....two reasons I'm tuning in. Same, there is no reason to play Beckham; CC be damned run Carlos & Saladino out there.
  6. I think hes a keeper and glad he overcame his early struggles. Hes ok defensively in CF but ideally I would like them to move him to LF, put Thompson in CF and sign or trade for a RF, Heyward or Puig. that would be an above average defensive outfield that would go a long way in helping our rookie pitchers as they break in.
  7. In the offseason thread I purposed a Sale + Robertson trade for Seager, Urias, Barnes and Puig and honestly I think that is a fair trade from both ends. While the dodgers have a lot of financial resources they've said time and time again they will be bringing their payroll in line in the near future. Here is why a trade scenario like that works. From the Sox side if you're going to blow a hole in the rotation you might as well move the most valuable piece in it. Chris Sale looks like a Clayton Kershaw clone, and while his contract might not matter as much to the dodgers, it still matters. Going into next year They've only got Kershaw and Wood locked up. Greinke can opt out and Anderson is a free agent. McCarthy is coming back from TJS and Ryu has a torn labrum he is recovering from. I doubt the dodgers braintrust is penciling in either of them for any meaningful innings. As shown by the second half the dodgers also have a real need for more bullpen support while Robertson has been a bit shaky lately he is still putting up some of his career best in a number of categories and should out perform his contract. The dodgers have the major league depth to move all of the above pieces and not even bat an eye. k*** is an above average defender at shortstop and other teams even viewed him as such, not just a super utility player. Between k*** and Peraza they've got a young talented middle infield, and Turner is holding down the hot corner, so Seager is expendable. Behind the dish Grandal is having of his best seasons on both sides of the plate and is still young and locked up for a while and Ellis isn't a terrible back up either, so that makes Barnes expendable. Urias is an amazing prospect and could be ready as soon as mid season next year but TINSTAAPP and if you're going to get a clayton kershaw you're going to have to give up a lot of perceived future value; Sale appears to be generational. As for Puig its becoming increasingly apparent that he has worn out his welcome and is hurt in addition to not living up to true talent, the dodgers would be selling a bit low here but in the grand scheme of things they're bringing in two stalwarts for their pitching staff. The dodgers weren't going to give up Seager or Urias for a rental but for 4 years of Sale this changes things drastically.
  8. solid contact by Trayce, terrible base running by Abreu..

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 11:22 PM) Thanks for posting that. He could be a 2.5 WAR player. He could also be a flash in the pan. It behooves the Sox to find out ASAP. No problem. I agree that he could be a 2.5-3.5 WAR player. With the rash of players with lackluster milb careers but good tools making good on them (Cozart, Crawford & Grichuck) there is reason for optimism with Trayce. I still think if everything clicks we're looking at an Alex Rios or Hunter Pence clone.
  10. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 10:58 PM) I can't be the only one who thinks that the Sox HAVE to take a hitter with their first pick, right? They already have a bunch of young stud pitchers, but not many hitters. I'd ideally like a catcher or third baseman with some pop, but we'll have to see. Take the best available talent but if they're board is tied between a pitcher and a hitter, take the pitcher, they've got a track record of consistency when it comes to developing pitchers, we're just now starting to see some hitters surface, and you can always trade pitching for hitting, case in point eaton trade, and the davidson trade (all though that didn't really work out for either team).
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 07:11 PM) Also forget trading Q, the real piece Hahn should be using is Sale to get some impact bats Thats how i feel. Sale to the dodgers makes a ton of sense; getting Seager + Barnes at the major league level + Urias and some other prospects would go a long way in helping this franchise.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) Better idea with Avi is to try and find a GM that still believes in his talent and do a talented, but unproductive player swap. I would love to see a Avi for Profar swap, Profar is heading off to the AFL and with the glut of infielders in texas it would be a great time to buy low. Gallo is blocked at 3B by beltre, Odor is holding down 2B and Andrus and his contract aren't going anywhere, they've got some promising outfield prospects but Mazara projects as more of a RF & Lewis Brinson as a CF. Hamilton is hurt and they're trying Napoli in left field.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) Robertson getting ignited. Why didn't Sox pick up Valencia? He coulda started next year at 3B. because oakland was ahead of us on the wire.
  14. phew, here i was thinking we we're going to pull ahead in the top 10 pick race. Thanks Avi!
  15. cant wait till hes no longer on this team.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) You know what I like about Trayce RE: his K rate? His O-Swing in the Majors this year is a very sexy 25.7%, substantially below average. His Z-Swing is a bit beklow average, too, but not by much (65%). This means he's being patient and selective but not OVERLY patient and selective. That, as much as anything, is the formula for TFT being a good player. His contact rates are below average and will likely always be unless he sacrifices a ton of power, so he needs to continue to choose the right pitches to punish. Essentially, also exactly what Avi needs to do but has shown no sign of even trying. Btw, Avi's O-Swing is up to 47.1% (!) somehow, second worst in the entire Majors behind only Pablo Sandoval. Holy s***. I was looking at depth at his swing profile recently and I agree, for Trayce to be more than a good 4th OF he'll have to stabilize his BABIP to league average levels (.300), hes fast enough that he could be around .330 and i wouldn't question it, if this his new approach at the plate. If everything breaks right for Trayce and he makes good on his tools alot of things in his profile scream Alex Rios, with his defense I think he could be a 3+WAR player in CFer, and if everything breaks right it affords the sox to save a lot of money and runs by moving Eaton to LF.
  17. I find it kinda funny the former double play combo of Semien and Johnson have now gone out to each other over the last inning.
  18. 11 pitch AB from a left hander, not bad.
  19. The good news is we'll get to see Micah again 0-3 3BB 1SO
  20. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) Meaningless games don't appeal to people. It's not Rodon or Sale pitching and TFT is out. To be honest, i'm tuning in every time Micah comes to bat, I've liked what i've seen tonight 0-2 3BB. Last AB was a 8 pitch affair, took the ball, and kept at it with 6 balls in the zone. Thats what I want to see out of all the young hitters, good solid ABs.
  21. not even mad, get that top 10 pick.
