  1. Pretty sure Buehrle pitched a complete game against the Angels. And he was going to go out for the 10th, because he only had, what, 90 pitches? Yeah, Buehrle can show up for the big game. Oh, and he saved Game Three after starting Game Two. Yeah, nuff said. Contreras rocks though, definately.
  2. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) It rocked getting in to check the score and finding a White Sox winner. I was also impressed that while Thome and Konerko went 0 fer, the offense still kicked! That is very true. If they can keep this up, and cover for Kong and Three-Strong, we will be clicking all year long.
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) I never called you an idiot. I said that wanting Buehrle over Santana for the rest of the season is ridiculous. No, not you. back in the 4/21 thread (I think it was) I was b****-slapped.
  4. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) I agreed with you. I would rather have Buehrle than Santana UP TO THIS EXACT POINT IN THE SEASON. But who would you rather have for the rest of the season -- Buehrle or Santana? Someone here didn't agree with me. I said AT THIS POINT IN TIME, Buehrle is my pick. And I also said (back in the original thread), that I will probably end up changing my pick, once Santana finds his groove. But Buehrle is pitching better right now. Apparently, that still makes me an idiot, taking the hot pitcher over the slumping one.
  5. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) So you're telling me Buehrle's 3-0, 1.69 ERA is worse than Santana's 0-3, 4.5+ ERA? What drugs are you smoking? I'm still waiting for my answer. What drugs?
  6. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Because as good as Buehrle is, taking him over Santana is ridiculous. So you're telling me Buehrle's 3-0, 1.69 ERA is worse than Santana's 0-3, 4.5+ ERA? What drugs are you smoking?
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) For this year, I'd take JC over Halladay, no question. You aren't allowed to do that here, apparently. I said I'd take Buehrle over Santana at this time, and I got b****-slapped by about 5 or 6 people. Guess I'll keep my comments to myself at this point.
  8. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) I'd let Jose start the ninth but take him out at trouble, although I don't think he'd have any. I don't think I like the idea. And I don't think Ozzie will either, he did the same thing with Buehrle on Friday. Buehrle should have/could have gone the last inning, but Ozzie took him out. I say let the Bullpen get the inning.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) To show how good Contreras is now, I think it's safe to say he didn't have his best stuff/command today. He struggled at times to throw his fastball where he wanted. His forkball has been erratic also today. Well then, either the Twins are just really, really bad at the plate, or Contreras is very very good on the mound. Thanks.
  10. Just got home and turned the game on (actually, right before BA launched his homer) and I have a few questions: 1) How has Jose looked tonight? His numbers look decent, but how he has actually pitched? 2) Uribe's homers: how far were they? Did he actually crush them? Or just barely get a hold of em? Thanks!
  11. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) From the interviews I have seen of him...he seems to speak about as well as Ozzie but seems very uncomfortable with his English and seems to really want to get it over with.... I think its more or less of him having to concentrate too much on getting his English right when he gives the interviews. He stumbles over words and sounds awkward. But who the hell cares, as long as he can dominate on the mound?
  12. What about Paulie? The last couple years, hes started off REALLY, REALLY slow. Now hes batting .364?! Are you f'ing serious?! .364!!! I can't wait to see him around the time he normally heats up, and starts jacking home runs left and right. Holy s***. It's gonna be a great summer!
  13. Freddy's curves are way off tonight. Come on, I know hes got it in him to get his stuff together. Hes dominating when hes on.
  14. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) Freddy starting to get hit HARD now. Its very distrubing, eventually, they are all going to start falling. And it could get ugly. Come on Freddy, get it together!
  15. Man, Paulie got under it, and look how far it went. Damn.
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 06:55 PM) And WGN/Comcast has been lower than the stadium gun this year as well. The Cell's gun has been known for being a bit fast though. I don't even see where WGN is showing the speed though. Do they only do certain pitches or something?
  17. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) Terrible call. We're hitting Radke left and right, and it's the second inning. Also should note that with a man on second you bunt down the third base line. Like I said, The Baby messed up the bunt. The perfect bunt would have been down the 3rd base line, he just missed it.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) Have we had any successful bunts this season? This early in the game, I hate the idea of playing for one run. With no outs, and Cintron being a speedy guy, that was the perfect call. Put pressure on the D early. Now, had Mack been on 1st, it would have been completely different. The Baby just messed up the bunt.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) Hawk and DJ keep talking about how Freddy needs to learn how to pitch at this velocity, and how he used to have some gas and needs to pitch around with this stuff. Can someone tell me outside of an injury, how someone drops 5 or more mph on his fastball and it doesnt raise any warning signs. Freddy doesnt have the control to become Buerhle or Maddux and pitch at 85-87. He goes deep into counts and relies on his stuff to get people out. He uses his fastball to offset his breaking stuff, if his fastball is not there people are going to sit at a speed and get some contact on him. You are exactly right. Freddy HAS to get his speed back. He can't survive for very much longer without it. People will adjust, and smack his pitches all over the place. I'm SURE Cooper can get it going though.
  20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) HOT DOGS That guys voice is annoying. Ugh.
  21. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) I am shaking with anger.
  22. Alex "The Baby" Cintron! This kid is like 17 years old.
