QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 28, 2008 -> 01:07 PM) Crede leads off and gets on via the error. We need to make a scoring statement this inning I would like the statement to be: "We have just scored 12 runs." -

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ May 28, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) Agree. I saw the Delucci hit...can't tell if Dye should have gotten there, but someone who can move a bit better probably does. And no, they had NO CHANCE to get V-mart at the plate. Floyd does come back strong at least, but damn... Jermaine went after the ball as though it were 5 years ago and he had range, got close and realized it was 2008 and he has none, and then turned right and followed the ball to the wall. -

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ May 28, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) Floyd's performance was very Javvy-esque, circa 2006. And Jermaine's performance is in right was very Jermaine-esque, circa 2007-present. -

QUOTE (Brian @ May 28, 2008 -> 12:57 PM) WTF JD? Entitlement. There's no other reason for a decision like putting Jermaine Dye in rightfield (when he should be in left) or giving Thome endless at-bats or not DL'ing Konerko. Damn it, I am so tired of non-production being rewarded as long as it's a veteran player. Do what's best for the team, and that is NOT Dye in rightfield, no matter if he occasionally runs as slowly as Richie Zisk, lays out his frame and catches a ball once in awhile. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) I need to just stop watching Cubs home games. Every game seems to be the same. Fukudome's played some ridiculous defense tonight. Fathom, if you're talking about the one he dove for, that was misplayed. I saw that replay about 6 times, and every time it seemed pretty clear that the guy stumbled, unnecessarily dove, and then lapped up the applause from the bleacher dopes. So, basically, he emulated Alfonso Soriano. What I'd like to hear like -- just once -- is what a disappointment Fukudome is as a run-producer. He's on track to drive in about 60, and that's after his "big" start and batting 5th behind Lee and Ramirez. He's good at many things, but I would think that someone would mention little things like that.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 24, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) Weavers been nasty I'm pretty sure that pitchers have great confidence pitching against our lineup. So you get less nibbling, ahead in counts and that makes it all the easier. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 8, 2008 -> 02:10 PM) I know these guys are veterans, but when NOBODY will take the ball the other way, it points directly at the approach that is emphasized by the hitting coach. Probably true.
-
Konerko's groundout to third base with men on 2 and 3rd -- on a pitch outside -- tells me everything I need to know about his approach right now. It's just befuddling how this guy wouldn't take that pitch the other way, particularly if he was just protecting the plate. Man.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 7, 2008 -> 11:05 PM) Nice, punctuation was obviously necessary. I'm sorry you were too focused on an errant apostrophe to realize what I was trying to get across, I'll make sure I capitalize everything and insert proper punctuation so you can better comprehend my posts from now on. You're the moron who even made the statement to begin with, serious or not, why would you say something like that? Idiot. I can only imagine what you would've thought about the part of the post that I edited out: "Of course, I'm simply frustrated and not serious. I sure hope that joesaiditstrue isn't offended. Given his evident intellect and keen knowledge of the game, that would devastate me." And, by the way, you need a period between "get across" and "I'll make sure." Otherwise, it's a run-on sentence. Love 'ya. -

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 7, 2008 -> 10:58 PM) i wouldn't shed a tear if Konerko or Thome weren't in a Sox uniform after this year, if this is what we're gonna get for the rest of the season don't get me wrong, i don't hate these guys or wanna see them "collide in the field" like some other bozo's, but a fire sale generally implies the players, i have no problems with our coaching staff except maybe ozzie and the fact that I think he's a toolbag. Bozo here. I see that we have another genius who thinks I'm serious about the collision in the field. Well, I wasn't. Thanks for your concern, though. JD and Paulie appreciate it. (By the way, I think you meant "Bozos," as in plural, as opposed to "Bozo's," as in things that belong to Bozo.) -

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 7, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) Anderson can't crack the lineup as a defensive specialist right now. There is no way Ozzie has him leading off. We will have the same lineup until we are in 4th or 5th place. If he could, Ozzie would bat Thome 3rd, 4th, 5th and leadoff. -

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 7, 2008 -> 10:17 PM) According to Hawk, Experience buys you shorter slump times. I guess a year and a half is shorter than say what 7 years. Yeah, I heard some of that (believe it or not, I'm switching back and forth to the far more entertaining Top Chef). Wow; if he hadn't before, I believe that Hawk just jumped the shark. He now exists, completely and wholly, in a world of self-parody. He's redefined the whole concept. In fact, I will now simply call it "jumping the Hawk." -
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 6, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) Lots of unrealized bonuses in there

QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) Soto's impressing me a lot at the plate. He's showing good judgment of the zone, and he hits the ball with authority. It's amazing what HGH can do for a hitter!! Ding!
-
QUOTE (gosox41 @ May 5, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) Maybe they should be sent out, but that's debatable (especially for Anderson). No, the guys that have killed us are Thome and Konerko. They've hurt us the most, with Swisher and Cabrera running right behind. I'm defintely not advocating gettng rid of Swisher or Cabrera, but I doubt PK and Thome are going to start hitting becasue a career .210 hitter and 5th OFer were sent packing. Bob Yep. Pick one of the 3-4-5, and let him play; the other two should sit, and not for a day either.
-
QUOTE (scenario @ May 5, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) BTW - As of today, Fields is batting .240 with a .318 OBP and is leading the International League in strikeouts. And if he maintains those numbers at the big league level, he'll be outhitting our 3-4-5.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) So, here's what I expect. Owens comes up, that's the last we see of Anderson except sitting on the bench, and people are suddenly surprised at the fact that Owens is taking at bats from Quentin and Swisher. I'd make sure that Ozuna, Ramirez and Russell were gone. I'd bring up Owens and Fields and play them. I'd sit 2 of Thome, Konerko and Dye, probably the first two. We'll try you again later, boys. No more sacred cows. It's been a problem for too long.
