  1. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 03:18 PM) yeah I noticed that too, I said to my roommate his swing to too obsene to show. That seems about right.
  2. C'mon West -- where was that inside strike to Konerko when Buerhle was pitching?
  3. Picture blacked out. An interesting thing happened though -- it blacked out just as Anderson was swinging at a low and away changeup. And it froze with Anderson's shoulders totally flying out over the plate, way ahead of the pitch. Pretty revealing.
  4. Observation: the White Sox looked at Shannon Stewart this winter but thought he'd slowed down. I am almost certain, after watching him beat that throw, that he is as fast as Pods. I like Pods. Just an observation.
  5. Just found out that the home plate umpire is Joe West. Now I understand why the calls have been bad. What a jackass that guy is.
  6. D.J. with the word "analyzation" -- nice!
  7. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) wow i wish i was as patient as you...how about our entire middle of the lineup doing nothing. You gotta know that will change. I could see Dye tailing off from last year and Thome falling off a little, but by and large, they'll hit.
  8. I'll tell you, I'm pretty optimistic about this team -- like the defense (generally), Uribe looks good, Pods is hitting, our pitching has been pretty decent -- but we are making a habit of leaving runners at 3rd with less than 2 out. And that reminds me a lot of that crappy team from last year. And that makes me agitated.
  9. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) That was an awesome hit by Molina Why don't we squeeze any more? Especially with our AA catcher.
  10. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) What's wrong with Crede to start this season? Bah. Popping everything up. Long swing.
  11. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:59 PM) BA was playing a little wall ball against the CF wall for some reason, guess it was kinda his own version of Hot Potato. Often called Pods Potato. Good patience by Joe.
  12. I'm not giving up on Buehrle yet today. I think he'll keep us in the game, somehow.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) Jesus, I want to see that same zone with the A's pitching You might need to do some imaginin'. Particularly if our hitters keep swinging at pitches below their shoes.
  14. Good pitch by Buerhle to induce the DP. I'm also quite sure that, had the hitter not swung, it would've mysteriously been called a ball. That was AAA umpiring that inning. Silly.
  15. QUOTE(G&T @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:52 PM) This is ridiculous. MB is not pitching bad, the A's are hitting it from the shoulders to the shoes. Hitters tend to be more confident when no close pitch is going to be called a strike. Walk. There was another one that could've been called a strike.
  16. Buehrle got hosed by the umpire. At least one of the 2 prior pitches had to be strikes. And, by the way, if Buehrle doesn't get those types of pitches, he'll be posting a 6 plus ERA this year. That was ridiculous.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:46 PM) I'd rather have Uribe or Gooch hitting 2 today. Why BA? I actually like it -- keeps Iguchi and Uribe in the same spots against lefties and righties, developing a little consistency. And, if our other hitters were actually going well, Anderson would see some pitches to hit, which would be good for him. (I think it was a mistake to hit him 9th all year last year.)
  18. Again with the inability to hit changeups from left-handed pitchers. What does Greg Walker DO?
  19. QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) who is doing the broadcast with dj? A tape of Hawk.
  20. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) God damn is he still talking about that? That's the way they teach it at the Ed Farmer School of Broadcasting. How many times did Farmer use the nickname "Babe" for Chris Shelton last year? And I'm pretty sure that's not a nickname that anyone in Detroit ever used. But it was Big Ed's story, and he was sticking with it . . . and sticking with it . . . and sticking with it . . . . and
  21. QUOTE(shoota @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) Very nice. Many thanks.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:19 PM) If DJ knows that there's something going on with Contreras (say for example marital issues), he might want to stop mentioning it every 5 minutes. Maybe Jose's worried about Hawk getting back safely.
  23. Nice play by Crede. That was a tough hop.
