  1. QUOTE(beautox @ May 10, 2007 -> 01:18 PM) bye gardy! I'm almost certain that Gardenhire asked the ump to toss him. During the argument, he was waving his arms and doing all the things you do that get you tossed, but the ump wouldn't do it. Finally, as the crowd was getting into it, Gardenhire leaned into the umpire's ear and then pulled back. A few seconds later, he got tossed. I think that's why Konerko was laughing.
  2. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ May 8, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) Getting tired of bad managing Getting tired of watching the same game in the Metrodome for the last 6 years. By the way, it struck me again tonight what a piece of garbage that place is. They had a shot toward right-handed hitters, and behind them, the Twins players and coaches were sitting in the "dugout" or whatever they call it. And just to the side of the "dugout" was like some sort of sidecar pen or something, where 2 or 3 coaches or players could stand. Stupid. Just another reason to conclude that funds for blowing up the Metrodome should be included in the federal budget. I intend to write Congress about this. Soon.
  3. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 3, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) The best we could probably do right now is Emil Brown. In the outfield, 'Ol Emil makes Pods look like Willie Mays.
  4. I don't regret the trade -- thought it was a fair one at the time and still do now. I do, however, miss the one guy who didn't try to hit the ball a mile every time up. I'll say that for Gload: he hit it where it was pitched. Maybe he could be our batting instructor.
  5. Important to stop that Tiger 9th inning crap from last year. Let's go, Bobby.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) Oh man....Uribe has struggled at times in that situation. Not Juan's best night with the fundamentals.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 07:31 PM) Al Kaline would have made that play. Al Kaline, in his current state, would've made that play.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) Neifi Perez doesn't leadoff for the Tigers. I was kidding. Neifi Perez only led off for Dusty Baker. 'Nuff said.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) Hey guess what Rongey? I've seen Erstad make atleast 4 HUGE mistakes in the field this year, 3 in CF and 1 at firstbase. What game are you watching? Hats off to Kenny Williams for a spectacular job on LF and CF this off-season. Swell.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) So is it even close? Is there a leadoff hitter out there anywhere near as bad as Erstad? Neifi Perez.
  11. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) Furthering the furthered observation: He's damn sexy too. Further to the further observation, furthering my initial observation: Erstad remains grindericious.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) Observation, thats how most of our hitters hit on this team. Lift and pull. Southside, I know we agree that's the basic approach for the Sox. But I wonder how much of it for Erstad is batting second.
  13. He's overswinging. I think it's because, batting second, he's gotten into the habit of trying to pull through the first base hole. In the first inning, for example, he took a ball on the outer half and tried to turn on it, resulting in a 14-hopper to second. And this has been happening quite a bit lately, whether a runner is on or not. He looks like he's swinging from his heels. The guy looks totally undisciplined up there.
  14. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) Man, and I'm not singling you out....but if I have to hear about poor Scott Podsednik's 'fragile confidence' anymore....jesus. He sucks defensively, and the law of averages will catch up with him offensively. You put your team in the best position to win, period. Egos don't get to interfere with that, well in a realistic world. But we all know thats not the case with the '07 Sox anyways. Yo, I didn't say that I thought Ozzie's tactic was a good idea -- merely describing what I think I'm seeing out there.
  15. QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) Pinch hit your righty when they have a tough lefty or LOOGY on the mound. THat is almost just understood, its just the way the game works. But no Oz does it different he has to set us up for that taylormade 6-4-3 dp. Sweet. My theory is that Pods is off to a good start, and Ozzie is not going to do anything that might upset his fragile confidence. That's why he left him in the field last night, and that's why he's not pinch-hitting for him in situations that he might have last year.
  16. Maybe -- just maybe -- there's a silver lining in how bad they've been offensively. I thought that last year they became too dependent on big offensive numbers, owing mostly to the big start from Thome and a few others. They got addicted to it. Maybe this year these struggles will keep the focus on doing some little things well. I'm hoping here.
  17. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) Yeah, all that hitting to the right side instead of pulling was terrible. Glad we got rid of that.... Yep.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) Buehrle has allowed 1 baserunner in the past 4+ innings I believe. I'm gonna say I called that one.
  19. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) Im sure theyre booked with dinner and dancing at Taco Bell With musical guests Slayer.
  20. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) Chris Singleton and Ed Farmer should be illegal...what an embarrasment. The game is an inconvenient backdrop for those two.
  21. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) Not only that...I think Iguchi hitting in the two hole once in a while will actually be good for his swing. Not if you ask Greg Walker. I heard him a few weeks ago on the radio, saying that Iguchi got into some bad habits batting second. I am not kidding about this.
  22. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) Great Clips sponsored mullet night does a lot to help rid us of our lovely stereotype Maybe we could get the Ligues to serve as greeters.
  23. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) and why is Thome hitting 3rd against a leftie?........Oz needs to go by the book more, instead of his instincts Better yet, Ozzie should translate his instincts INTO a book: "Talkin' Crazy: The Ozzie Guillen Theory of Management."
