Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) What the hell was Pods thinking when he stopped running on the SB attempt? Is his mind really that out of it? Hey, Dick, I got the impression you were watching the game WHEN THIS HAPPENED. That means you're still thinking about this, 2 hours later. Watching Podsednik play baseball can do that to a person. -

Ross actually read the scouting report. Vlad has a powerful arm, but he has trouble hitting a target. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) A nice prancing gait would help. Its the pods defensive blunders video he will be selling this offseason. All the while being ogled by the fairer sex. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) Throw yourself on the ground, and then have a friend throw the ball about 20 feet the other way. Should I run on my tippy-toes before I fall down? -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) We would have won if he kept running. Why, was he running through the stands, into the parking lot, and out of our lives forever? -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) I'm no fan of Pablo in LF, but its time Ozzie looks at that alledged SB attempt by Pods and pulls the plug on him this season. Pablo is really no worse than Pods in LF. I missed it. So, really, how bad was it? -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) Safe to say, MacDougal has something wrong with him. Something else to blame on Saturday night's McCarthy, Boone and Hermie Show. -

QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) another must win game and we can't close. Don't worry. Ozzie knows that if they score here, we can still get them in the top of the 11th. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) Don't the Sox have someone with an ERA of around 6.00 at A ball this year that Ozzie can put in the game now? I thought that was Cotts. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) Its amazing to me one of the worst hitters on the team is guaranteed to come to bat at least as much, if not more than any other player on the team. If there is some reason Pods must play, he should bat 8th or 9th. Wasn't the one decent game he had in Boston when he batted 8th? A lineup never to be seen again. Why is Thornton still in the game? -
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) Isn't that Javy's duty? I'm telling you, it's his starts that lead to the greatest disasters. Even when he pitches well. Unbelievable.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) Another great game for Thome against a LHP. Ladies and gentlemen, Jim Thome has hit the baseball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey kid, are you left-handed? Well, get in there. You, too, can shut down the Chicago White Sox.
-
QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) That's baseball evening out for all the crappy outings that the offense won for him. Unfortunately this team doesn't need karma to even out right now. Yep. I need to do some research here -- the number of times a Vazquez start has stopped a winning streak. I think it's pretty high. And, no, I'm not blaming today on him.

I hate this pile of ass in our bullpen. I hate that we have no leadoff hitter. Ozzie says to just win each series, right? So, to review the past 2 weeks: if we lose today, we'll have LUCKILY taken 2 of 3 from the D-Rays at home, split at home with the Indians (after "turning the corner" yet again), and lost series at home to the Twins and on the road to the Royals and Red Sox. I know that everyone here recognizes this, but I just wanted to emphasize again the way that our veteran and tested team is turning it up for playoff time, baby!!! We're not messing around!!!! We have a solid approach at the plate every game!!!! And our bullpen executes in clutch situations!!!!! Yyyyeeeeessssss!!!!!!!!! Thanks. I feel better now.

QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Thornton and MacDougal have pitched consecutive games. Bobby hasn't looked all that good and nobody else can pitch. Oz is really in a bad spot now. BMac has been awful. Yep, and because BMac was awful last night -- and McD and Thornton had to bail his ass out -- he gets to be awful again today because those guys shouldn't pitch 3 days in a row. Christ.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Can the Sox score before the Bears offense does, LOL. Nope. 7-0 Bears.
-
There it is. There it is. That's Uribe's hitting approach in one swing. That was awesome. One swing -- one career. Fantastic.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) Konerko swings, then suicide shrugs, fly out. Ah, but this shrug was more of the "I just missed it" as opposed to "I've popped up again" variety. Please, SSI, you must monitor these distinctions.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) JAVY 7 IP, 2 ER, 10 K I'm probably as big a Vazquez detractor as anyone on this site. But the man battled his nuts off out there today. So Javy . . . hats off for battling your nuts off.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) Nice! Boone, safe to say, took his time throwing that ball to first base. I think ol' Boone might have forgotten about the 'ol runner on second. Still, you gotta like the way he handled Sizemore. Conclusion: Boone's better without the 'stache.
