And that's a white sox loser
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) Dont worry, Bmac will pitch again around the 8th of September. His pitching staff is fine, bmac sucks and should be inserted over his vet staff. And Mack will play only when a right pitches, or when a tough lefty that Brian may have a problem with. Like Neal Cotts?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) Bmac went 5.1 innings and gave up only one run. He obviously isnt stretched out enough to start. And is bad according to our manager. Yeah, but he gave up a home run to Hunter, right? See, it was right to bring in Cotts and Riske last night. Whew. For about a day there, I thought Ozzie had lost his touch with the pitching staff. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) Rotoworld take on the Count. Jose Contreras was pulled after 2 2/3 innings having allowed five runs Saturday in a no-decision versus the Twins. We have to take issue with manager Ozzie Guillen's decision to play Rob Mackowiak in center field tonight. Left-handed hitters have hit Johan Santana better than right-handers this season, but Mackowiak hardly ever gets to face lefties and he's a big defensive downgrade from Brian Anderson. While Contreras was in the game, there were two balls hit over Mackowiak's head that Anderson might have had plays on. Contreras wasn't going to outpitch Johan Santana either way, but he could have lasted longer with better defense tonight. Rotoworld is written by Terry Bevington, right? I'd say Ozzie's late to the party.

And that's a white sox loser
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) He must practice Tai Chi. Misdirection. The poop right in front of you doesnt stink as bad as your neighbors poop, Now that is stinky poop, thank god you dont have that poop. Not only that, but your poop will probably even smell better tomorrow. So don't worry so much about it.

QUOTE(CubKilla @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:34 PM) Not. Contreras was brutal. Jose's back to his early 2005 form. Fear not. I am quite sure, no matter the cause, that COOP WILL FIX IT

And that's a white sox loser
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Well Anderson was put in later in the game, there was a rocket hit to the center field fence. He strolled back, and caught it at the top of the wall. Mack = butcher in CF Thanks, SSI-71. By the way, looks like Contreras was solid.

And that's a white sox loser
Alright, I just got home, having been totally out of the game loop where I was. I come home, and the first highlight I see is a ball hitting the warning track in centerfield, about 2 feet over Mackowiak's head, and bouncing into the stands. Someone please tell me that Mackowiak conclusively blew 4 or 5 plays tonight, so this loss has some worth: that is, that I will never have to watch this guy out there again. Then again, I suppose that should be clear to Terry Bevington by now, and yet Ozzie insists that all is well with El Macko in centerfied. Okay, so -- at the risk of repeating -- did he screw up out there?

Santana's in Ozzie's head.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) From my source who's seen Owens play a lot, he described him as a lesser hitting Willie Harris. Should be solid.

**8/26 Game Thread! SOX vs. twins
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) MACK IN CF?!?!?!?! I'm not even going to rip Ozzie, the actions speaking louder than any of my words can. Wait. Isn't Anderson one of the few guys who had good swings against Santana on Sunday? If Ozzie wants to get Mack into the lineup, DH him and bench Gload. Do you think that, just maybe, the PLAYERS are starting to question Ozzie's use of Anderson and McCarthy? I mean, I have little idea of the plan here. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) Btw, Anderson had the best at bats against Johan outside of Thome's HR at the game I went to, and he also had 3 good at bats and a hit against him last weeekend. But yeah, Rob has a great shot, after all he kills lefties. At least we have our best defender in there at CF though. What you said. Wow.

Cotts
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:17 PM) Yes, Ozuna deserves to be on the playoff roster. He's a great situational hitter, can play numerous positions (not well, but at least he's an option), and is the fastest guy on the team. Sweeney is a much better player than Owens is, and if we're calling up someone to start in LF, it should be Sweeney. No question about Ozuna being on there. Maybe they see Owens as the Willie Harris addition of this year. But, as we all know, there is only Willie Harris. And he dominates regularly.

Cotts
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) I don't think it has anything to do with Pods. I think it's more that they want a possible pinch runner on the bench for the playoffs (I don't see how he'd make the 25 man roster though). Could be, fathom. But you'd think Ozuna would be that guy in the playoffs, unless (a) they view Ozuna as their primary right-handed pinch-hitter (could be); or (B) Ozuna's actually starting. In that event, of course, Podsednik would be on the bench. Anyway, if the Sox make the playoffs, I'm not sure carrying a pinch-runner is a luxury they can afford unless they were to leave a pitcher or Gload off. I guess they could go with 10 pitchers. But I also think they may just want some insurance against their funk-ridden, defensively challenged lead-off man. Not sure Owens is that guy, but who knows?

Cotts
QUOTE(minorsfan @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) If my info is correct (I trust my source) I think they are going to bring him up and then DL him for a minor league rehab assignment-- not really sure how all that works but he would be available for the sox in the playoffs if needed I think. And that, my friends, illustrates just how little faith they have in Podsednik going forward.

Sox fall to Twins again
QUOTE(beautox @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) i luvvv when people come out of the wood work "I mean, D.J., the man had an opinion, and he expressed it. Still, kind of a hinie-bird."

Sox fall to Twins again
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) Konerko didnt see a fastball last game and looked stupid swinging at changeups in the dirt. Konerko's at-bats against Santana are pretty entertaining. You can actually see the gears grinding in Paulie's head as he tries to figure out what to do. The result is customarily a strikeout on a changeup, followed by small head shake and bat grip, then trudge to dugout. Now comes the happy, detective-style music on the post game show. Yes, another evening of Chris "The Shadow" Ronge has come to a close. You may return to regularly scheduled human reasoning.

Sox fall to Twins again
QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) The Twins were definitley alive over there. Hunter really pissed me off acting like he just hit a walk off shot to win the WS. It's really sad that when it matters, the Twins kick our ass year after year. And their manager, like Leyland on Wednesday, treats the game like it's life or death. He saw Radke didn't have it, and he took him out early.

Sox fall to Twins again
QUOTE(chisox72 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) I WAS a huge fan/advocate of Pods' place on this team. To the point of defending him many times this year when I should not have. I am done now. I hate him and wish for him to go away, fast. I will even volunteer to help pack him and Lisa's apartment if it will expedite his departure. His poor approach at the plate (despite his lookie what I found single tonight), his lack of stealing/baserunning ability, and his PISS poor defense make me want to throw up on myself. The sooner he goes away, along with fat Freddy, the better off things will be. He has no upside what-so-ever and has zero place on any big league roster. Yes, but tell me about some of his BAD qualities.

Shuster disagrees with Ronge on waving Gload. Ronge weeps. Little tears, but tears nonetheless.

Sox fall to Twins again
This was great. The Ronge said he wondered about Riske's pitch selection to Hunter but didn't question anything else he did!

Sox fall to Twins again
QUOTE(chisox72 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) Hah! The Sox have to "find a way" to make Cotts effective and give him "condfidence"...... I miss Brian Dolgin..... Sounds like a real party in the Bullpen Bar. The Ronge, sitting by himself, with hot dog wrappers blowing around . . .

Sox fall to Twins again
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) ADR? What does that mean. If we can come out of this series 1/2 game out of the WC lead, I like our chances the rest of the way with Radke injured and Liriano not returning as a starter. At this point, I think Radke, Liriano, Morneau, Mauer and Santana could all be injured -- and Gardenhire blindfolded and lobotomized (in either order) -- and we'd still be wondering how we lost to the Twins.

Sox fall to Twins again
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) Does anyone think 20 wins in the last 34 is possible for this team? That's what it's going to take to get into the playoffs, at least. You mean to get to Ozzie's magical 95? Yeah, Ozzie, maybe we need a few more than that this year.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Their screener just hung up on me. I asked if I was going to be allowed to ask a real critical question or would Bagdad Bob get all mad at me if I put frown in his happy loss post game palooza. Best post of August.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) I'd much rather have Soriano in LF than have McCarthy detailing Ozzie's SUV during the game.

The Ozzie Guillen Battleground Thread
QUOTE(Wealz @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) Cotts should be replaced on the roster if he can't be used in the 6th to get a lefty out. That's a GM problem. Would you have preffered MacDougal & Jenks pitch the last 3.1 innings? That's a great way to burn out your pen before September. I actually found myself thinking about Boone. Ah, Boone.

8/25 Game Thread Sox vs. Twins
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) Twins are a better team. It's a shame. I have to concur.
