  1. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 06:47 PM) I think it might be time to platoon him with Mack Yep, no left-fielder against lefties. Our defense might actually improve.
  2. Memo to Jose: Please stop hanging the sidearm pitch. Thanks much. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) Pods does bring the nicest looking date to the team party though. I saw Pods and his lovely bride at the Hunt Club last week during lunch. She had no make-up on and still was on fire. Just curious, was Pods wearing pants?
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) Pods is now 4-46 vs the Tigers this season. Igniter.
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) The team ERA was the same as Cleveland's in today's paper. And Cleveland's staff and ours were supposed to be 1 & 2 in the league, based on last year. Ah, baseball . . . Does anyone know if Shannon Stewart is coming back for Minnesota? Because, I'll tell you, if he is, I think if you put the Sox and Twins side-by-side, I'm not so sure that their team isn't just as good as ours, top-to-bottom, pitching included. That's a damn good team. So there's no embarassment in being neck and neck with them (even though our team doesn't seem to TREAT them like they are neck and neck in the standings; just a feeling I get, and not a good one). All I'd like to see is some consistent sense of energy and focus out there. I don't see that. And I do see an over-reliance on guys who are likely to kill this team before it's all said and done, like Vazquez in the rotation and Mack in center. That's just not smart. Teams who don't have other choices get murdered by these guys; we do have other choices, and the consistent reliance on these guys, in these spots, is just foolish. Finally, if I hear Ozzie say one more time, that if you win 95 games and don't make it, so be it . . . I hope he's just trying to take pressure off of his team, because this is the American League, and you might have to win 1, 2 or even 5 more than 95 to get in. I think we can do it. The other teams all have flaws. And the Tigers really have struggled. They were very fortunate to get out of Boston without losing that series.
  5. I swear to God, if Ozzie says that "Javy pitched good" . . .
  6. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) Something tells me Santana would've gotten that pitch. And Javy's response, as always, is to throw one right down the middle. Nice body language, too. Send him to Charlotte for the AAA playoffs. No, wait. If I were the manager of Charlotte, I'd only want guys who know how to PITCH.
  7. Something tells me Santana would've gotten that pitch.
  8. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) You laugh, but he would. He did. He pitched for the Yankees in 2004. He was awful. If memory serves, he gave up the home run to Johnny Damon in Game 7 of the ALCS.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) With how crappy we've played in the last week, I'm THRILLED we still have the lead in the WC right now. Think about it, though. If Vazquez goes out there twice in any week, you're already on the ropes.
  10. QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) Why is Javy still out there? Tryin' to get his ERA over 6.00.
  11. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) Another runner stranded. This $hit is getting old At least we moved him along. Whoops. I was thinking of another game.
  12. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) Amazing throw by Gary Matthews Jr. to get Maggs at home and end the inning. Imagine how fired up I'd be if I didn't have to watch Javier Vazquez.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) We've seen Thome foul off way too many meatballs lately. I think he's hurt more than they're letting on.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) Evidently if you may want a guy to join your coaching staff next season, its a requirement to have him on the roster this season. Oh, that's why Javy's on the roster. Next year's bullpen catcher. So long, Man Soo Lee.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) Give me a guy with "stuff" and no brain ANY day than a guy with 86 MPH junk and is a total douche. Hopefully Javy can rebound next seaon. Based on his track record of being a .500 pitcher, I think we can expect Javy to bounce back to about .500.
  16. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Texas has just jumped into the lead on Detroit...down 6-0, now up 7-6....we had a golden chance today, but Javy is not capable of pitching around errors, not capable of not throwing meatballs, not capable of getting thru more than the lineup 3 times, not capable of helping this team win a title... He needs to be dealt...for anything we can get. How about Todd Ritchie?
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) As someone else on this site has noted, Vazquez is the momentum killer. Hey Javy, when you come out of the game, throw your mitt against the wall and act real upset. Like always. Because you were trash. Like always.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) Shocker! Garcia can't get off this team soon enough. I think the key was the concentration that Freddy showed going back out there.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) Hawk seems very pissed off tonight. Must have been a bad day on the back nine.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) Terrible swing by Iguchi. He looked like he was swinging with an 0-2 count. Ridiculously crappy at-bat. Just silly. HOWEVER, Boof looked hittable. Repeat: Boof looked hittable.
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) Wow, nice at bat BA Brian was on a nice little streak until Ozzie iced him on Wednesday.
  22. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) Garcia is hard to watch. But easy to love.
