QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) Ray Durham was average at second base but I sure liked him leading off the lineup. Steve Sax should of been on the team longer, well until he had his mental breakdown.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 12:31 PM) As a nice companion piece, read "The Death of WCW" by Bryan Alvarez. It gives lots of examples of the horrible mismanagement, ego trips and ego clashes, foolish spending and loads of other mis-steps that led to wCw going down the drain. I plan on it. I've been told that this book goes more into detail. The DVD set is good for having some of the matches anyway, as well as the "Lost in Cleveland" saga.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 02:06 PM) Now Milton has dropped the "R" word. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,5478912.story Had he not heard the previous stories of this happening before? No one made you sign there dick, you could of gone to Tampa...but you wanted the cash.

Watched the Rise & Fall of WCW last night... It's good, but it kinda comes off as a cliff's notes version of what happened. The DVD makes it seems that everything was just dandy and then all of a sudden things went s***ty. They could of used another hour at least. But for someone who was really young or not even alive for some of that stuff, it's a good history lesson.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) Last night was the craziest party we've ever had. And not in a good way... Silver lining: I went 6-1 in beer pong by myself, playing 2-on-1. Good god. Either you're phenomenal or you played s***ty teams.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) We need peavy so that we can like, have something to look forward to. We do. It's 2010.

I'm not saying I'm for it...but I won't be crying a river if it were to happen. I just feel this team is in need of a major shakeup of some sort.

QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) Your logic is atrocious. You deserve to be chastised. Lucky for you that they're trying to turn this place into a utopian society. Romo is damn good, but Rivers is on a different level. That should be pretty obvious to anyone that pays close attention to the NFL. My advice is just to watch more games. Blah Blah Blah, If you're gonna "chastise" me then do it. If not, don't even bring it up. Thankfully, I'm so "lucky" I watch enough NFL, thanks. Perhaps taking your own advice would be good. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 06:30 PM) Brian - Rivers absolutely exploded last year. His game log is insane. 3-to-1 TD-to-INT ratio with a 65% completion percentage and a 105 QB rating. Yeah, he had his worst regular season game of the year in Pittsburgh, but when they played the Steelers in the divisional round, here's the line that he finished with: 3 TDs 1 INT 308 Yards 60% Completion Percentage 105 QB Rating ^ All true to his regular season numbers w/ the exception of the completion percentage. Romo is a 2-to-1 TD-to-INT ratio type if he's lucky (more like 1.75). That ain't the end-all-be-all, and his completion percentage is comparable to that of Rivers, but there's no way that these guys are on the same level. Rivers is approaching Manning and Brady - you can not say the same for Romo. And like mhizzle said, the numbers tell the story. I don't know what numbers he was looking at , but yeah, if you know what to look for, Rivers is the obvious choice when trying to determine who is more valuable. Again, all you've confirmed is that Rivers had a good 2008 & now all of a sudden he's an elite QB? Get outta here. As for numbers, all you've given was a ratio for one season. (They're both 2-to-1 over their career.) With a better completion % & a better QB rating. So who's more valuable?

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) So the Cowboys fan thinks Romo is as good as Rivers and the Steelers fan thinks Big Ben is better than Rivers, while the rest seemingly disagree... interesting eh? Rivers had a better 08, Romo had a better 07...I'd say that Romo had a better 06 even if he only started 10 games opposed to Rivers's 16... Tony Romo is better than Phillip Rivers. Not because I'm a Cowboys fan, but because the numbers prove it.

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) You cant honestly think Kurt Warner and Ben Roethlisberger are better QB's than Rivers. Also Romo is definitely a tier below him without a doubt. I can see someone making a case for Brady and D-Mac being better, but that still puts Rivers in the top5. Romo definitely a tier below? GMAFB. QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 02:07 PM) Donovan McNabb is a career comp% of 58, has one 30+ TD season, and has never thrown for over 4,000 yards. To be honest with you, 2004 was the only season he was "great" anyways. Big Ben was about as good as Orton last season. Hes a good QB as long as they are a run first team with that defense. Thats how hes been good. Cutler? You must be a Bears fan. Just because Kurt Warner has a really good season, which would make ONE in the past SEVEN, doesn't make him better than Rivers. Sorry. Romo is the only solid case you have made. Either way, Rivers is a top 5 QB in this league. Rivers also only has one 30+ TD season as well & only thrown only 4,000 once...Oh, but he's better right? Palehosefan already made my point for me about Ben. Actually, I'm a Cowboys fan. Just because Rivers had a really good year last year, it doesn't all of a sudden shoot him up to top 5 in the league. Do it again, then we can talk. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 02:21 PM) Haha, mhizzle don't know his football too well. And you do?

Just win. I don't care how. I'm not ready to give up on this season yet. -

QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 04:08 AM) Forget who is being paid what, please list me every QB in the NFL right now that is better than Rivers. We can go ahead and eliminate the Super Bowl wins as well, and just go off of pure results from the QB position. I will go ahead and make my list first, in no special order.. 1. Drew Brees 2. Peyton Manning Im not putting Tom Brady on that list because I do not believe in his spiked Randy Moss spread offense season.. Tom Brady is widely viewed as this messiah of a QB, when in fact prior to that freak season he was roughly a mid 3,000 yard mid 20 TD with INT's in the teens QB. Lower 60's in comp % as well. That was Tom Bradys norm over 6 years as the starter. This was Rivers third year as the starter, with arguably the best RB in the league being the focal point of that offense. Hes right on par with exactly what Tom Brady had been doing for years. Anyway you look at it, you have to pay to keep a franchise QB around. I am just interested to know who you think is better than Rivers.. 1. Peyton Manning 2. Tom Brady 3. Drew Brees 4. Kurt Warner 5. Ben Roethlisberger 6. Donovan McNabb 7. Romo/Rivers/Cutler
-
Fine, Rivers is above average. I think the point is that he's getting paid more than quarterbacks that are better than he is.

QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:29 AM) one, Jim LOL How many will participate in both and really up their post counts? 5 How many people here turned in their clunker for cash?

Got out to catch The Hurt Locker tonight, great film.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 11:16 PM) Rivers is average? He had just as many TD's last year as Brees did, and his #1 is Vincent Jackson + Gates. So then you can point out why he deserves this crazy contract extension?

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 08:03 PM) Lance Cade wasn't really all that good, IMO and didn't he get released because of wellness failures? They were in the process of giving Cade that mini push as Jericho's assistant or something like that & IIRC, they never really said why he was released. All I remember reading is that he had a seizure on a plane.
