  1. Why weren't the sox mentioned with speed obsessed?
  2. QUOTE(G&T @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:12 PM) Why? Even if he enters FA the Tigers would overpay to keep him because it would be a disaster for them to lose all their prospects and Cabrera after 2 years. How are they going to be able to afford to pay him and the rest of the team they field, with a now barren farm?
  3. QUOTE(G&T @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:03 PM) I really doubt the Sox had any chance, Willis or not. Yeah I guess not. 5% chance all the way. Didn't pan out, shouldn't be a surprise.
  4. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 06:03 PM) wasn't fields on pace to hit 50 this year? just saying That's what I'm saying. Hopefully one of fields or danks have huge years. I still not going to write this team off. We don't even know what we have in fields, danks, richar, quetin and possibly owens. If those guys live up to their potential, and we play well in our division we still have a chance.
  5. The marlins wanted to dump willis with him. We probably didn't want to give anything for him, so we lost. That's how I am guessing it went, but I'm wise enough to see that I can easily be wrong.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) Sheff's name is going to be on top of the Mitchell report in the next few weeks. It won't be alphabetical?
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:43 PM) Because our system sucks and we can field offers for one of the best hitters who happens to be 24 years old. Dont worry wait till you see him live and in person for 19 games a season. I am sure he will be handled by our rotation and stud pen. Yeah but we knew that yesterday. We knew we had a 5% chance at MC. So why get pissed now?
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:40 PM) And alot of older players, and prob a now staggering pricetag for Mcab. I wonder if their fans call themselves the giants of the AL too.
  9. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) Nothing but conjecture. Even if Williams did drive up the price, Detroit probably doesn't care...they now have one of the games elite hitters. How do you offer a competitive package without driving up the market? Other people here are assuming way too much about what went down, all because of some beat reporter with poor knowledge and spelling? This site is ridiculous sometimes.
  10. Well, here's to josh and danks being studs next year. Hopefully 'Geo' soon too.
  11. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) Score 8 runs a game a ok rotation will do! Not necessarily- in the playoffs they have to play against a solid rotations top 3 pitchers. They might not score 2 runs.
  12. I don't see how detroit offering them a better package is "getting played."
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) So potentially the Sox can maintain 29th or even move up to 28th. Not very encouraging considering the lack of contribution they got out of a system that was once ranked #1 only 7 years ago. Doesn't that just prove that the rankings are bulls*** conjecture?
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) I read were BA was going to name the Sox 29th out of 30th in minor league system rankings. That's before they unloaded Carter. Well it was also before the tigers (potentially) unloaded 6 guys.
  15. John Danks or Gavin Floyd? s*** if that's all it takes, I want him badly. I thought it would take both with gio + fields.
  16. QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) yeah, that didn't help either hmm... would the Phils be willing to deal Fabio Castro for Crede... probably no chance of that. I'd make that deal just to have someone with such a cool name.
  17. Crap I'd take burke just to have an easier time dealing uribe, if it makes it easier.
  18. There may be some reason I don't know about, don't get me wrong but right now he looks worse than capuano to me.
  19. Why would we want him? Is he going to start for us? I give him a 1/5 chance if we get him.
  20. Well you make some interesting points. I have to say that trading Fields would be big in addition to Jenks and Kong. He made a name for himself last year and a lot of people are looking forward to see what he can do more than anyone else.
