QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) That is freaking brilliant is what that is. That is gonna be my avatar as soon as I can get home and put it there happy to help. I felt that vintage Steve Stone was way more beautiful than current Steve Stone.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 09:52 AM) With this new season, someone needs to create a Steve Stone talking head icon in the same vein as the Hawk "He Gawn" and DJ "Uh-Oh" icons. Maybe it should say "Because Steve Stone Said So" It is a must. how's this?

Took the day off tomorrow, as well as next monday to go to the home opener. Regardless of what happens, it's baseball season, and that makes me happy. -

Crosstown Showdown in Another State - March 15
TheChrisSamsa replied to Heads22's topic in 2008 Season in Review
I like Bourgeois.. seems like a good guy to have on the big team in the next year or two, kind of a second coming of pablo.. but hopefully better in the field, though I haven't seen any other games this spring... so I could be wrong/off due to small sample size.. where'd he come from anyway? -
good thing I placed that $20 bet on the sox to win it when I was in vegas... Hey, who knows... Anything can happen, right?

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) If Bartolo lost 150 pounds for his comeback, would we be getting a Semi-Colon? Wow way to make me absolutely crack up laughing at work. I had to leave the office. Must be one of those days. Thanks for that though. On subject, itd be nice to grab a starter with some more hope than floyd.. And hope some bullpen arms perform up to their potential.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 01:30 PM) I'm going to be completely honest here and say that I *hate* when people use the "Oh, it's already the playoffs, why play the regular season" card, because it's stupid. Really, it's not the playoffs yet, there's a season to be played? No s***? Thanks! The Sox are not a contender this year; if you don't realize this now, then you are blind. They will not put a product on the field that will be considered a favorite or even a good team by nearly everyone on the planet. That doesn't mean they can't potentially be a good team if the planets align and a meteor hits the earth and etc etc what not else. All I'm saying is that playing Pablo puts the Sox in no better of a position this year than Richar does, and Richar gives you hope for the future, where Pablo gives you none. And by the way, let's look at the Colorado Rockies...the team that scored the 2nd most amount of runs in the NL last year and put up a 4.32 ERA, which was good for middle of the pack, and beyond that, had a bullpen that put up an ERA of 3.85 for the year, which is outstanding. Thus, the Rockies were a damn good team, and the Sox don't have near the talent level the Rockies did. Please relax. It's just sports. Nobody is dying over this... I love the white sox.. and i realize that they're not necessarily a favorite.. but stranger things have happened than a team like the white sox will field having something of a shot at making things interesting... all i'm saying is, why play the youth from day one if you have a more seasoned and a more reliable option to plug in "the youth's" place..? and as for my Colorado Rockies reference.. nobody expected them to put up the numbers they did.. and they did, nobody expects much out of the white sox.. and maybe the team will play past it's projected potential. Maybe the young arms will pitch like kings and the oldtimers will return to form. Who knows? Let the games be played.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 01:04 AM) THE SOX ARE NOT A CONTENDING TEAM. PLAY YOUR YOUTH. PLEASE, SOXTALK, F'ING UNDERSTAND THIS CONCEPT, PLEASE My bad.. I forgot that it's already the 08 playoffs, and the Tigers, Yankees, Red Sox, and Angels are battling it out for their trips to the World Series. Obviously everyone else should have PLAYED THEIR YOUTH! Because in baseball, star power automatically puts you in the post-season.. i mean, look at the Colorado Rockies of 07... /green

QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 12:40 AM) Two words... Danny Richar. yeah, I duno, I'm just not that confident in his ability to add pop to this team. Pablo seems to add that spark and swagger.. if Richar struggles, i'd like to see Pablo put into his role.
-
Would it be silly to try to work Pablo into being an every day second baseman and leadoff hitter? I may be mistaken, but I don't think he was THAT bad playing 2b, he's definitely not a good 3b or left fielder, but i don't remember having major issues with him in middle infield.. especially if he got a ton of work in there in spring training? Would this make any sense at all? Is it worth a shot?

Crawford for Uribe.. straight up. a boy can dream.. -
QUOTE(SouthsideNorthsideFan @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) Sorry, this wasn't close compared to that play. It's a similar situation where the ump called something that is still unsure even after replay. Either way he calls that play, someone's gonna say it's a blown call.
-
it's like the AJ dropped 3rd strike, even in slow motion replay, you can't really tell what happens. hell of a game anyway.
