  1. QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 12:51 PM) haha yeah... i'm a quick one some times... fine, howabout... detroit? sucks there too. ha. I'll be in Detroit April 21 and 22 for the games.. hopefully it doesnt suck there that weekend.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 10:16 AM) opening my first beer.......................................now opening my first beer.......................................now. I know, I'm a little behind you, but i've already put in 8 hours at work and I'm home in time for a 1 pm game.
  3. Yeah, i mean.. because you can honestly get a gauge on a team after one game..
  4. Here's to Jose having his worst outing of the year.. if we can stay in this game with Jose, I can't see it getting worse.. Find the positive way to look at things?
  5. I mean.. i knew the Indians were good this year... but s***.
  6. My first legal, self bought, beer will be at the Cell. Just like my first legal, licensed drive was to opening day when I turned 16.. I turn 21 mid-march and I will refuse to buy a beer for myself until opening day, the timing of my birthday left it up to destiny for me to be a baseball nut. That said, opening day brings happiness back to my life instantly. I divide my life into baseball season and non-baseball season.. non baseball season means cold and winter and boredom. Baseball season is fun, warm, and always exciting.. Football season and the Bears doing what they did was a bonus this year, but I still couldn't have cared less.
  7. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 21, 2007 -> 07:24 PM) But...but...the Saints...they're America's Team... What will America do??? Root for the Patriots... or the Colts i suppose.
  8. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) 140+ games with Cintron at short will explain to you how false that sentence is. When Juan is hot, he is a damn great hitter and when he is cold, he sucks. But, he is one of the three best defensive shortstops in the league and overall a better player than Cintron. BTW, Juanny looks like he slimmed down a little. If he plays this year, I expect a solid season .270, 20 HR, 70 RBIs and 10 SBs. Nah, it's just that those stripes are soo slimming.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) We are screwed in Downers for this. I cant get the Daily Herald nor can I get the Southtown due to a local Downers paper that is terrible. So I have to deal with the trib or the times. This is just so dumb. Would you be referring to the Reporter or the Sun.. both being completely awful, just curious, I'm with you here in Downers, we've got some sub-par local papers, thats for sure..
  10. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) Based on what? 435.1 IP, 231 K's, 177 BB's. Add in a bad attitude and poor work ethic, and you have one terrible baseball player. I'd have bad attitude and poor work ethic too if I played for the Royals.. Put someone on a contender and sometimes there's a good turnaround to reach their full potential (see Scott Podsednik 2k5).
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 9, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) El Duque's 6th inning against the Red Sox. Unbelievable. I'd put Freddy's game 4 WS victory in 2nd, and Bobby Jenks' celebration jump (all of 3 inches off the ground) in 3rd. I agree. That was the most intense half inning of baseball I can remember. I was on my way home from work, continuing to listen to the game on the radio and I got inside to the TV just as Duque got in to pitch. I didn't sit down, I just paced until i hugged my mom when she yelled "he swung! he swung!!!" at Damon's not so check swing. Pretty much the best memory I've got of the playoffs. I'd put MB's win/save second, just because I think that was a classy and typical MB move. Bobby's game 1/game 4 saves third, and Freddy's Game 4 win fourth.. Just my personal memories of those moments put them in that order of fondness. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Dec 9, 2006 -> 10:38 AM) I would say El Duque's individual performance vs Boston, then the collective effort of the SP's to throw consecutive complete games in the postseason. P.S. I like the title, "Now that many of the 2005 staff is gone..". So I guess 2 is many. I was going to include Cotts and some other relievers, but they seemed like longshots.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 9, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) I believe he was at a World Series game wearing it to root for the Cardinals. And really, is that so wrong? I know, there's something to be said for loyalty to your employer. But there's also something to be said for loyalty to the team you grew up loving. It's not like he's on the Cubs doing this. The White Sox and Cards play 3 times every third year, unless they meet up in the World Series. Mark has expressed nothing but love for playing in and for the city of Chicago, and I trust that he'll give us the fair shot when he's a Free Agent looking for a new contract. That said, I'm not gonna be surprised to see him in Cardinal red.. I guess it won't be much different, as we've all already seen the pictures.
  13. Since 2 of the starting 5 and, in turn, 2 of the 6 most memorable pitchers of the 2005 campaign are now gone, it just seems fitting to see who's legacy everyone thinks is the most memorable... Reminders: Freddy pitched a gem in game 4 of the World Series sweep Bobby had multiple impressive performances, mostly game 1 of the world series, striking out Bagwell and taking out the 9th. Mark saving and winning a game in the same world series El Duque had the absolute lights out stop of the bases loaded BoSox. Nothing really stands out about Jon or Jose, besides the all important W.
  14. QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) Makes you wonder sometimes the maybe BMAC should have been starting all last year in a 6 man rotation. Ya know, all of our guys were so tired last year from the '05 playoffs. An extra days rest might have helped. In retrospect, 06 was the year for the 6 man rotation, if ever. Especially looking back on it, and hearing everyone, even subtly mention the issue of the pitching staff being unrested. As for my thoughts on McCarthy, if he's starting in 07, I'm still nervous, because in my opinion, he'll still be a "rookie" starter. The kid is good, but he still hasn't completely won me over just yet.
  15. Anyone else think this makes Barry Bonds a shoe-in to fill his slot in Oakland? And that may be the reason he moved on?
  16. So, does this make the Tigers more or less of a threat for the division next year? Sheffield seems pretty rough on clubhouses if you ask me.
  17. I love this idea and I hope those seats stay forever.
  18. it was right around this time.. wasnt it? a little after 11?
  19. looks like one hell of a plan to me. Worked for the Cards that's for sure. though Rogers still dealt.
  20. Holy cow, Maggs with the BOMB. I'm an American League fan.. so go tigers.
  21. its good to see our youngsters taking care of business. Hope for years to come.. These youngins along with the fans still showing up to games should give us the resources to be competitive for a good amount of time.. unless someone screws up big time. P.s. Pods is 0-4.. just throwin that out there.
  22. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) we have trouble getting 1 run tonight. Now we have to get 2. I was about to say the same thing.. 2 runs isnt even an option. Javy will lose another good game. YAY homeruns!
