Mariners @ Sox 7:05 PM Gamethread

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) Instead of playing the young guys, I would rather see Ozzie have some fun and make the lineup drawing names out of his hat. It couldn't be worse than his typical vs. LHP lineup with Pablo/Gooch/Dye/Thome/Konerko/AJ/Crede/Uribe/Mack or Anderson You mean he hasn't been doing this on Sundays all season? -

QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Pabs trade value: Zero. Pabs value to this team: Pretty high. -
Remember when Jon Garland was having a poor start to this season and everyone put up the white flag on him... "Trade Judy Garland" I believe was a common cry. Suck it up and stick with your boys. Jon, Mark, and Jose are locks in this rotation. Getting rid of them is like getting rid of Paul Konerko. Freddy, Javy and BMac are the question marks. Freddy is making his case, Javy hasn't been as awful as usual (still the best "5th starter" in the league in my opinion). While BMac, our golden boy prodigy is basically digging his team a grave whenever he's put in a situation where he's supposed to be building the ladder out of a hole. Kid's got nothing but high trade value (for whatever reason..) in my opinion. Keep the starting 5. Ditch Brandon, like we should have at the deadline... maybe then we'd have a leadoff hitter that got on base every now and then... wouldn't that be somethin?

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) There is nothing more enjoyable to me than being called a 'fan' on this board....I'm not going to boo, but I sure as heck won't give them a standing ovation either. Agreed, that's exactly where this team sits, somewhere between a boo and a standing O. Maybe a slow clap. Either way, they've atleast been in it since day 1, atleast we had a reason to pay attention.

I love that Zorn article because it completely negates Mariotti as a valid writer.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) BRIAN ANDERSON CANNOT HIT RIGHT HANDERS. BRIAN ANDERSON IS A RIGHTY, AND RIGHT HANDERS CANNOT HIT RIGHT HANDERS EVER. THEREFORE, BRIAN ANDERSON CANNOT HIT RIGHT HANDERS. ONLY ROB MACKOWIAK CAN HIT RIGHT HANDERS. You forgot that Scott Podsednik can also hit right handers.. if you didn't know.. -

at the beginning of the year I didn't think i'd be saying this.. but I miss BA.. I'm confident that he'll have a productive at-bat pretty much every time he comes up these days. -
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 10:02 AM) We really need to get our bullpen right. We have a couple of studs (MacDougal, Thornton), an injured stud (Jenks), and then what seems like a bunch of players who have no business even coming into a ML game. McCarthy and Cotts and september call-ups... wow. It's sad that I have to say that I agree, none of which have any business coming into a ML baseball game in a pennant race. Riske might still be an okay pitcher, but we wouldn't know.. he getsl less work than Boone and Haegar.

As long as we can win today (9/10)...
TheChrisSamsa replied to TheChrisSamsa's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 09:44 AM) Anyone think they'll actually get the game in today? It's been raining all day and doesn't look to let up anytime soon. How soon would they call it? I have a long way to travel to go the game and hate to have to turn around and come right back home. It being a day game they may wait it out all day to try to get it in, even if it forces the game into a night game. It's the end of the season, making it potentially very difficult to make the game up. -
If we can put together a third win in a row, I say go Twins. Put us 2.5 games back from the division, even if we are still .5 back from the Twins for the Wild Card, that's a spot where both teams are fully within reach, especially when playing both 3 more times. If we lose today, obviously, I say go Tigers, they can have their extra game on the lead as long as we're still in a virtual tie for the Wild Card. Anyone agree? It's definitely a better situation either way if we can win. So really what i mean to say is:

Thome and Konerko both with "infield" singles... is it a full moon tonight? -

M. V. P. ... and Thome legs out a single. Looking good tonight. -
Update.. just saw that highlights.. amazing bat flip
-
I missed the game tonight.. I NEED to see the home run and I NEED to hear hawk's call.. why'd this one have to be on a friday night when I decide to have a social life?
-
The way they played last night.. I hope they have another "closed door" meeting before every game of the year... that and I hope our starting pitching continues to look like it did last year.
-
I say if we can keep pace with them, let's go for a Tiger sweep.. Then lets sweep them and go for the division. Sound good?

The Tigers are giving this race away but no takers.

We're just lucky Minnesota has decided they don't want the division either. -
White Sox vs. Royals......Goin for the Series
TheChrisSamsa replied to letsgoarow's topic in 2006 Season in Review
just for the record... the twins are losing 4-1 at the moment -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) We've lost 6 games to the Royals this year. That's all that needs to be said. That's fine. They're still not good. I don't care, I think we will do well this weekend.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Why. We are at home, they are a terrible road team. This is the same type of crap I saw posted when we split against KC at home. The worst road team in baseball trots in and takes 2 games. Come on. We could of won this today, but our O is in the 2nd half slumber they usually do. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Why not? I've seen this brought up too much. Tampa & KC get swept all the time. I meant the Twins/Tigers getting swept and us sweeping.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) The problem is that we have 3 games left with KC...and then we have a killer schedule the rest of the way. The Twins and Tigers have a much easier schedule than we do the rest of this season. If we go on the west coast and play the way we're doing now, we won't win a game against the Angels or A's. That's why the next 3 games are very important. if we're a few up on the Twins, we've got a chance to hold onto something close to that before we see them at the end of the year. edit: can't expect 2 sweeps in favor of us.
