QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) A chance on paper? WTF!? Have you watched this team at all this year? We're playing the Royals.. the worst team in Baseball (though, I think most of you would pin that on the White Sox..) And our two main worries are playing the Yankees and the Angels, both good teams. Yes, I've watched this team all year, and when we go into games against teams like the Royals, I usually feel like we've got a good chance of winning. And when I see our competition playing teams like the Yankees or Angels, I feel like they've got a better chance to lose. I still feel that these next 3 days will make or break what happens the rest of the year because we're going to need a buffer on atleast the Twins to be able to make it into the playoffs.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) Take a look at Detroit's schedule and then our schedule. These games against TB and KC are our chance to get back in the race. Same thing with Minny; they have an easier schedule the rest of the way. We should be padding our lead. Instead it's back to .5 game. That's exactly what I'm trying to say here.. we've got 3 days to do so. If we don't, we're f***ed.

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) This team will not sweep the Royals. We will gain no ground this weekend on Detroit....could pickup on the twins as the Yankees miss Santana. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) The tigers lost playing the Yankees, we lost playing the Rays at home. We are 4 1/2 out with 30 left to play. What in our play against the Royals this season gives you the idea that we will be able to build a buffer. Sorry, forgot this board is a complete wash when looking for a positive or confidence. Ignore it if you must, but I think I made a decent point. We've got a chance, on paper, to do something decent with the next 3 days.
-
Let's take a gander at the positive... If we're still shooting for the division, we didn't lose any ground and Detriot has 3 with the Angels coming up. The Twins pick up one on us, but are still behind, and have 3 against the fairly hot Yankees coming up. We have 3 with the Royals coming up... The next 3 days can give us a nice buffer zone on the Twins and help us inch closer to The Tigers before we hit our more difficult end of the year.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) At least we're not seeing the same mistakes we've seen during the entire 2nd half of the season. True, consistancy is good... -

And this board will still continue to talk about how great it was that we didn't trade him.. -
From the most recent "White Sox Notes" on whitesox.com I sure as hell got a kick out of it. Final word: "Freddy can't hit anybody with his 84 mile-per-hour fastball. If he hits somebody, they're going to get on base, steal second and third and everything." -- Guillen, on Garcia

I was in Boston last night at a bar, rooting for the red sox, wearing my white sox hat. I was slightly angry when the tigers put the game away. I got a funny look or two, but I think people caught on eventually. It'll probably be a similar situation tonight, hopefully with me loving the red sox for taking care of the tigers and allowing us to gain a game on those pesky tiggers. Go sox (squared).

The sac fly to Pods allowing his run to score just seemed so fitting right there..

Hah.. Pods. What in the world will we do with him..

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) Only if he had more power, he COULD be a real good player, but as is, he's a poor man's Mark Grace I'll take a poor man's Mark Grace as our third-string first baseman.. He has been looking pretty good since he started getting some playing time... if nothing else, maybe some trade bait?

Seems like the lefties are seeing this kid pretty well, just gotta get right on it.

7/29/06 White Sox v. Orioles

Thank god BA is out there and not Mack. Mack would have been twirling his dress trying to find that one. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) Like he is on the market. Looking like he should be, he doesn't fit this role, he's a starter with a lot of value, and we have 5 consistantly available starters. BMac hasn't done anything huge worth noting for us in this role. I understand the idea of holding onto him for the future, but I think we've seen that this team wants/needs to win right now. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) Yes! I wouldn't mind seeing McCarthy start the inning. Garland hasn't had much today, but he made some big pitches when he had to. Farmer and Singleton were talking about how sick he is also. They said if he had to start yesterday, he wouldn't have pitched and that he's feeling a little better today, but not 100%. They also said that Ozzie, Coop, Konerko and one or two others have been getting the same pretty terrible head-cold/sickness. But as I type this it looks like Jon's going into the 6th, I wouldn't mind seeing BMac pop in for an inning or two, then bring on Cotts/Riske or 2 /3 of the flame throwers. -

QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) I'm excited everytime Garland takes the bump... should be a good game Remember when everyone was crying everytime John took the mound? There was so much talk around here about getting him traded, now look at him. And now it's Freddy and Javy getting thrown under the bus. Everyone will do fine. When we make the playoffs, everyone will step up again and kill. That said, a win today would be very nice and confidence boosting. -

It's time for this team to make it happen. They've been waiting for handouts, they're not going to get them. They need to out play the O's tonight. -
Give me this 25 man roster, and I'll have no reason to complain: "Starting" 9: Soriano- LF Iguchi-2B Thome-DH Konerko-1B Dye-RF AJ-C Crede-3B Juan-SS Anderson-CF Starting 5: Contreras Buehrle Garland Freddy Vasquez Bullpen: Jenks-Closer Cotts-LH Middle Relief Thornton- LH Set-Up Macdougal- RH Set-Up Riske- RH Middle Relief McCarthy- Long Relief/Set Up/Spot Starts Bench: Cintron Pablo Mack Widge (k.. he can go.. but nobody wants him, and we need a 2nd catcher) Gload Take McCarthy off that list, and I'm still a happy man. I like him, but not that much, an impact player like Soriano would make this line-up ridiculous, still with a well above average pitching staff.

I feel like a Cubs fan.. hopeless, but still I still "believe"

I'm diggin this look.

yes, if Cleveland were in this spot last year, they would have ended up with something like a 7 game lead in the division. And this is the Ozzie Guillen era White Sox we're talking about.. I'm sorry if you've jumped off the bandwagon as of late, but this team has done things that shouldn't be done, and will continue to do so. They're just playing the game right now, it won't be long before they start doing it with the heart that we know this team has.

A.) Gload should have fun on Dye's double, f*** Joey Cora, that's how we play here, I duno what he was thinking. B.) Gload should have made up for that by staying on the damn base, regardless of if it's a hit or a flyout, he scores, instead, he's retarded. Grounds for dismissal? yes. I havent been watching till the 8th today, who has pitched for us, is Thornton available? -

This team has somethin, that's for damn sure. They pulled this one out of their asses, and I loved every second of it.
