QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 02:54 PM) Weren't there rumors like two years ago of a new Them Crooked Vultures album? Whatever happened with that? Still on hold. They were waiting on QotSA album from Homme, and for JPJ to finish the rock opera stuff he was doing. I still hold out hope that we'll get another TCV album, the first one gets played all the time still.
  2. Spring Training and all, but.... 3.1 IP, 11 H, 10 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, 2 HRs Yeouch.
  3. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 12:22 AM) These announcers are actually doing a disservice to Jimbo Fischer. They keep hyping up all these great recruits he gets but just look at the on field product he produces. The Mack Brown of the ACC. With what he pulls in at FSU, I don't understand how they can lose a game like N.C. State.
  4. Between the Chik Fil A bowl last night, and the Outback bowl today, damn good football. I was really going to post early on, that Michigan really needs a pure QB. But I don't know, Gardner made some great throws, some not great. Give him the offseason, and who knows. Hoke and the O line coach did a great job controlling the S.C. D line for the most part, but just like in the Tennessee game, all it takes is one Clowney play to change the game. Great game

I think it has happened a few times now, but, here is the one I remember:

QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 16, 2012 -> 01:56 AM) Man, it's gotta be awesome to be Dave Grohl. Grow up idolizing the Beatles and especially Led Zeppelin, and eventually share stages with Jones, Page and McCartney. I wouldn't be surprised if he's been with Plant at some point, I'm just not aware of it. Lest ye forget, also with Brian May and Roger Taylor from Queen. Dude is living the life.
  7. One of the sad things, is the farce that is involved with the process of buying a firearm. But, I know, Amendments, my freedoms!!, blah blah. Let us continue to make it easy for firearms to be acquired.

My goodness, the 12-12-12 concert was one of the best lineups..ever. I could have done without the Kanye garbage, other than that, what a show. And, I mean...Paul Mac...nothing else needs to be said. 70 years old, and still one of the coolest rockers out there. Just crushed the jam song with 2012-Nirvana. I love that man. The Who killed it as well, Waters/Vedder kicked ass, Stones seemed indifferent to the whole thing. Hell, even Billy Joel sounded great.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 10:32 PM) Jarvis Jones has had a much tougher life than Te'o has, had superior stats, and he seems to be an afterthought in these awards. I gave Jarvis Jones a lot of grief for flat out disappearing in a few games this year, but I agree. He went through some seriously rough times, and was an absolute playmaker this year. I'll never understand all of the hype around an above average season for a LBer.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) Sounds like it's a good thing I missed the ESPN Awards Show tonight. Saw on twitter where Te'o has now won the most awards in a season of anyone in CFB history. He's become the defensive version of Tim Tebow. Unreal, he better have thanked the Pitt kicker in his speeches. Manti Te'o statistics: Forced Fumbles - 0 Fumbles recovered - not in the top 50 (#73t) Interceptions - #2t (tied with one other player at 7 int) Passes Defended - not in the top 50 Sacks - 1.5 Solo Tackles - not in the top 50 Tackles for loss - not in the top 50 Total tackles - not in the top 50 A linebacker on UGa in 2006 had similar, if not better overall stats than Te'o, and he got 2nd team All-SEC. Amazing what a sob story can do for some. Sorry, its true. There are better players out there this year, but instead, they're loading up Te'o with awards for having a 'very good' but not 'great/fantastic' season.
  11. I'm sure he meant by means of all time wins, which they are. Top NCAA Football Programs By Wins Tenn has a few things for a coach to be concerned about. There was a time when Fulmer absolutely killed it in out of state recruiting. The borders of North Carolina and South Carolina have really closed down, making it that much tougher to pull the elite kids from this area. Add to that, they are looking for their 4th head coach since 2008? This is a big time make or break hire overall, in both overall program stature, and boosters eyes I'm sure too.
  12. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) I live about 40-45 minutes from Wisconsin, and I'm jealous of one of my college roommates who lives in Madison now and can get it any day he pleases. But at least I'm able to get it occasionally; it would indeed suck to be that far away. Does South Carolina have much in the way of an active craft scene? My area is pretty active for craft beer actually. I'm surrounded by Thomas Creek, Highland, Sweetwater, Terrapin (my personal fav atm), COAST, and RJ Rockers. Over on Beer Advocate forums, so far Terrapin stuff has been the one thing I can offer up and people are interested in.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 07:12 PM) New Glarus makes a really good sour beer. They are fast becoming one of my favorite microbrews. Must be nice to actually be able to get NG stuff. Sucks for anyone outside of Wisconsin that actually wants to try it, though. Same deal with Hill Farmstead in Vermont. Plenty of stuff both make, that will never see the light of day outside of their states, and DEFINITELY not down in South Carolina.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 09:42 AM) Yeah, Andrea is horrible. Hopefully she somewhat avenges herself and helps out Darryl. I didn't read the comics, though I am very tempted to right now, so I don't know if this Darryl/Merle meet-up resembles anything, but I'm really interested to see what happens. My guess is the Governor forces Merle to try and kill his brother to "prove" he is not one of them Darryl didn't exist in the comics. Now, AMC is going to have a hell of a time getting rid of him, he quickly became the fan favorite.
  15. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 07:58 PM) Things not looking too good for my old neighborhood buddy Brad Brownell at Clemson. Doesn't help when your leading scorer gets arrested on gameday for weed. I was at the game, and Milton Jennings would have made a difference in the game. Would it have meant a Clemson win? Maybe not, but they wouldn't have been down 20 at the half, or been dominated on the boards in the 1st half like they were.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 11:56 PM) Clowney would be the first pick in the draft if he was eligible. Clemson's OC tried to outsmart the Carolina DC, I guess...no idea what he was doing...he never bothered to even chip Clowney, or double team him. Hey, its ok to admit you have to use 2 players to block arguably the nation's best defensive talent. But no, "just gonna try to use this one guy and I'll be fine..."
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 11:46 PM) Yeah, I was shocked at Florida pounding FSU on the road. USCe beating Clemson was also impressive. With a backup QB and 3rd string RB, might I add...
  18. YES!! I knew we'd get Brian Anderson back, one day!! Oh wait.....
  19. We don't have very much talent at this point, but dang if Frank Martin isn't entertaining to watch on the sidelines...thanks again Kansas State, the Christmas card is in the mail.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) Trust me, I'm a huge Clowney fan. That USC/UGa game last year was probably my favorite game of the year. I actually saw a projection that had GT playing USC in a bowl game. No matter what GT's record is, I want NO part of that offense. We can't even stop FCS teams running the triple option. I want nothing to do with a Paul Johnson team with 3+ weeks to prepare.
  21. I think that came out wrong. What I MEANT to say was, I dont think either Te'o or Clowney are deserving of any talk for the Heisman, not even remotely. But somehow that didn't correlate to what I typed. Te'o has done nothing overall to deserve an invite to NY, much less actual consideration for the trophy.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) He's not even the best defensive player on his own team (Tuitt has much more impressive stats). Jarvis Jones of UGa is probably the most impactful defensive player in the country. Rock, Te'o has 1.5 sacks, not 10. Not sure I'd agree with the Jarvis Jones bit. He flat out disappeared in a few games this year, including the blowout vs. South Carolina. I'd argue that Jadeveon Clowney has more of an impactful presence than Jones, and I don't think he is remotely close to being deserving of such talk that Te'o is getting for the heisman.
  23. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 18, 2012 -> 04:34 PM) Sorry the score won't be 75-72, but it could still be a great football game. Coming from a guy with a team in the SEC, this post is interesting. Not sure how anything ND has done this season is considered 'exciting' honestly. And no, I don't want a 75/72 game either, but I guess something about a defensive battle isn't appealing. Offense > defense in terms of which is more enjoyable to watch. And lets be honest, only the true fans of a team really think a defensive oriented team is a joy to watch. No one else gives a damn about watching 10 points in a game. If I wanted to watch that, I'd watch soccer. About the same amount of scoring. And yes, my team is a mediocre offensive team that relies on defense. I'd much rather watch a team that I thought could score 40 points a game, with an average defense instead.
  24. Alabama-ND would be the biggest snoozefest Title game ever. Sorry, nothing appealing about 2 mediocre offenses pillow fighting each other for the title.
