  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) Don't tell this to people who hate Alexei Ramirez's defense and UZR. Wasn't the UZR that had Alfonso Soriano as one of the finest defensive LF in baseball last season?
  2. White Sox still have to face a stacked Red Sox team. Maybe Kotsay will have a hit by then.
  3. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) My new thread idea "If O-Cab had accepted arbitration...." Yea, we'd be better. Getz out, him in. Better on defense and offense, b/c i'd move AR back to 2b. That would be about $9 million KW would have had to cut from somewhere. The Sox did cartwheels and breathed a sigh of relief when Cabrera cost himself millions and rejected arb.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:31 PM) Thats what I dont get, how is he an upgrade? He is a downgrade defensively and offensively he is about the same as the guy he is replacing. Frankly, if this means less of Nick Punto, I see this as a win for the White Sox. Punto sucks. Casilla sucks. The're HOFers against the Sox but are terrible against everyone else.
  5. I was in Minneapolis for the first 2 games of this week's series. Considering all the pub they are giving the new place, and it does look like it will be spectacular, I cannot see them using the Metrodome at all unless there is a snowstorm that would knock out a week of games. I think this is BS. Besides, if the Twins only play a few games there a year, they won't have as big of an advantage.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:19 PM) Enjoy that clubhouse cancer Twinkies It didn't stop the Red Sox, Angels or White Sox winning when he was around. He is a douchebag, no question, but he is a huge upgrade for them although his glove has slipped this year. Just be thankful the Twins made that trade for Delmon Young. Bartlett and Garza would look very good on the Twins.
  7. DWise just guaranteed himself 100 more ABs this year.
  8. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) So. That does not mean you can't change speeds at least once in 15 pitches. If they hadn't hit the fastball, why blame him for continuing to throw it?
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) Times like this I wish we had Lillibridge on the bench to hit. He was at USCF today. If Anorexei had to be DL'd, he would have returned.
  10. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Oh wow... per Cowley and Gonzalez twitter... Jenks is not at the park tonight... no explanation as to why. I hope everything is alright for him and his family.
  11. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:38 PM) Wished Matt would have thrown a slider at some point...every pitch in that 9th up until the homer was a fastball. And he struck out 2 guys and had Swisher 0 and 1.
  12. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) good thing AJ was just calling for fastball after fastball. Please. He threw it too low. Up high, Swisher had no chance, just like ever other pitch to him this evening.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) Wonder if Jenks would pitch the tenth. If not, you've got to wonder if he's hurting or something. I think the Sox will score here.
  14. Maybe Ozzie is actually looking at the reports and sees these guys don't hit Thornton that well instead of automatically entering Jenks. That would work for me for the rest of the year.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) So did Jenks lose his closer spot? If he has, this certainly is his last season with the White Sox.
  16. So Jenks isn't closing or setting up. They probably should at least get him ready.
  17. If the Sox have the lead in the 9th and go to Jenks, I really think it will be decision day. If he's back, great. If he screws up again, I think he'll be out of that role for a little while.
  18. The Yankees make a lot of teams a lot of money.
  19. Its nice to see the other team look like 8 year olds in the field every once in a while.
  20. Dirty 30 is bringing a tear to my eye with memories.
  21. Watching this replay with Contreras on the mound, the one thing he did differently when he came back from AAA than what he is doing now and in this 2007 game was work quickly.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 07:59 PM) My sister met Costas in the airport in New York as they were taking the same flight into Chicago on Tuesday. Is she at least 5'2"? If so, she probably was looking down on him. Anyone remember when Bob Costas was an announcer for one season for the Bulls back when they had Ricky Sobers?
  23. MLB Network has the Sox game on tonight. Costas is calling it. Kotsay leading off in CF. He is the second coming of Darin Erstad.
  24. Anytime you get another chance to see Darin Erstad in White Sox double knits, its a treat.
