Javier Vazquez
The scary thing is he hasn't started giving up homers at an incredible clip yet, although a couple tonight. If he starts doing that like he did in NY and AZ, his ERA will skyrocket.

Javier Vazquez
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:23 AM) Cherry picking is the height of lame. He's had 4 starts giving up 6 runs or more. 6 giving up 5 runs or more. He's pitched 8 innings once. This is not a $12.5 million pitcher. KC is a minor league team.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) 4.43 actually. Getting 3 starts already against KC will help your ERA. His ERA is over 6.00 against teams not named the Royals.

The streak ends...............BUT!!!!
Too bad Dye was lifted. They still might be playing, or the Sox may have won.

Javier Vazquez
His ERA against teams other than Cleveland and KC is 7.52. He's been lights out against KC, and the first 2 times against Cleveland, although they scored a few runs off him his last start against them. Considering what they gave up, and what Vazquez is paid, unless Vazquez turns around his AL performance, and don't say he just couldn't handle NY because he made the All Star team and then fell apart, the Young, Vizcaino, Hernandez for Vazquez trade, may be the worst trade KW ever made. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) Boy this is soxtalk for ya. Make one bad start and your in the doghouse. I wonder when Buehrle gives up like 10 runs will people jump him too? I would expect alot of posters here who are jumping on Vasquez (except Aboz who will never bash Buehrle) to do the same with Buehrle. 1 bad start? He's been pretty brutal for a while.

Kenny's thoughts on Ozzie and possible consequences
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) You role in around in the mud with pigs and you're going to get dirty. Ozzie could have made Mariotti sound like the whiney windbag he is by just taking the high road and saying: "Jay Mariotti is a coward; I've never seen him come down into my office--the clubhouse--and have the guts to ask me questions straight up. Ask Jay if he ever comes down here. He fears for his safety? Give me a break, that happened over 5 years ago now, and Jurassic Carl's screaming fit, well Carl is a crazy dude but he ain't here anymore." Jay should get his butt down here and get the info straight for the horses mouth." If Ozzie said that, Mariotti would have looked like a high school gossip, and the White Sox would have come out smelling like roses. Too bad Ozzie still has his "street mentality". He needs to realize he's in the corporate world, not the streets of Caracas. That would have been fine, but it gives Mariotti free publicity. The White Sox have been in a verbal spat with Mariotti for years, and have basically said what you suggested. As long as he gets the free pub, and knows his column has struck a nerve, he will continue with it. The Sun-Times loves all the attention he's getting now. I wouldn't be surprised if he's up for a raise.

Kenny's thoughts on Ozzie and possible consequences
Its a shame Ozzie's big mouth has put KW in a position to say what he had to say. Its time to STFU, and play baseball. The White Sox as an organization need to ignore Mariotti. It should be team policy. If this policy was in place at the beginning of the season, none of this crap would have happened. Mariotti is just sitting back laughing at the mess he helped create, and he's laughing at how bad he's made the White Sox organization look to others around the country.

Roberto Hernandez
He looked done a couple of years ago, but has pitched well of late. It wouldn't hurt having him around IMO, and probably wouldn't cost too much. The danger here is at his age he could implode at any moment.

Pillage Division
Rincon is another steroid boy. I don't see the Twins giving up. With Santana and Liriano right now basically locks to win their starts, if the rest of the rotation goes .500, they play .700 ball. Its unlikely they will be able to do that, but I think they see the light at the end of the tunnel and probably want Rincon for next year, or if they deal him, deal him to someone other than a division rival.

Kenny's thoughts on Ozzie and possible consequences
QUOTE(WhiteSoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) my 2 cents... To me it felt like KW was throwing Oz under the bus, but I dont know for sure. I hope im wrong. Id love to hear player reactions to this. Im a huge fan of Ozzie and why people are so thin skinned when it comes to ozzie's talking I dont know. Every little thing he says gets blown out of proportion. Then for KW to even mention firing him after all hes done so far is just idiocy IMO. Id expect KW to show the same loyalty and support to Ozzie as Ozzie does toward the players. Stick up for eachother through thick and thin. Thats what a team is all about. Would you and anyone else who thinks its alright for Ozzie to say and do whatever he wants, think the same way if it were any of the other 29 MLB managers that say such things? KW did not throw Ozzie under the bus. He was talked to after the *** comment, and the next thing you read is Ozzie saying he's not going to comply with the commissioner's punishment. If anything, Ozzie is throwing the White Sox organization under the bus with his outrageous comments.

Kenny's thoughts on Ozzie and possible consequences
KW is trying to get Ozzie to shut up. He also wants everyone to know the White Sox don't condone his recent behavior. I'm sure the initial refusal to go to sensitivity training has a lot to do with this. As I said a few days ago, Ozzie keeps pushing the envelope further and further. If he pushes it too far, the White Sox will have no choice. KW is just letting him and anyone else who's interested know that the envelope is getting close to the end of the table. It wouldn't surprise me, considering he thought about quitting last year, if Ozzie walks away at the end of this season or next. That's if his mouth will let him make it that far.

Best Athlete On The Sox
Before he got huge, Thome was an all state basketball player.

Guillen doubts he'll attend sensitivity training
For all those that don't think Ozzie's mouth could possibly cost him a job from ESPN Updated: June 24, 2006, 9:10 PM ET White Sox brass not amused by Guillen's anticsESPN.com news services This has not been a good week for Ozzie Guillen. In the past three days, the White Sox manager has been fined, suspended and, most recently, made headlines for his apparent refusal to attend sensitivity training, as ordered to by commissioner Bud Selig for his use of a derogatory term aimed at a newspaper columnist. If Guillen doesn't start exercising more restraint, general manager Ken Williams intimated that Guillen's antics could also cost Guillen his job. "The simple fact is we have seen this movie before," Williams told ESPN in his first public remarks on the situation. "If it continues on, the likelihood [increases] that … maybe one day I'll have to walk into the office and deliver some bad news and announce a new manager. That's just the reality of the situation."

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) He probably has the green light but Wheeler is doing a good job right now of keeping him right there. A scouting report would be able to tell you that Wheeler is good at holding runners. I think it was a waste, although I like Pablo batting in late game situations also.

If you're not going to run, what's the purpose of taking Thome out of a tie game?

Heart of the order up, only 1 run needed. I like the Sox chances

If Ozzie ever decided to walk away, I would love for Sweet Lou to take over. I fear Sweet Lou taking Dusty's place on the northside. He would change the attitude of that team.

Riske has looked solid since coming over. He's not throwing very hard, but getting outs, kind of like Hermanson last season.

Thornton with a little emotion after that K. He's usually robot-like on the mound.

Great News regarding Dustin Hermanson
Hermanson said he was feeling great going into spring training. I'm not holding my breath. If he does somehow return, I really doubt he would be effective. I congratulate and thank him for his efforts last year, and give him credit for putting up the effort this season. A lesser man would have just taken his money and gone home.
