  1. The good news is the Sox have scored 5 runs in this series but still have a chance to take 2 out of 3.
  2. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) I'm not saying he has to hit Hr's, but a few doubles and triples would be nice. Pods actually has been hitting more doubles lately. Given the slump he has been it, it could be good news if he is able to snap out of it.
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) I just hope that he doesn't get a big fat contract in the off-season. I'm Ok with him as our leadoff man, but at the right price. He's signed through next season. It's less than $2 million. Considering he's only at about $500,000 this season its still a good deal.
  4. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) What a strange reason to dislike him. He's got a .350 OBP with a billion steals - is it his fault he doesn't get driven in? Do you want him to steal home? When the One Dog and Ray Durham and Tim Raines were leading off, they all scored 100+ runs a season. Its not his fault he doesn't score all the time, although he could hit a homer every now and then. I think its a flaw in the smallball or smartball philosophy. I always agreed that stolen bases were undervalued, but I'm beginning to agree with the Billy Beane guys that they are overvalued. Pods isn't even in the top 50 for runs scored, and considering how many times he has been caught stealing and picked off where it was not ruled a caught stealing, his OBP is distorted. In reality it should be about 40 or 50 points lower.
  5. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) Pods has been Horrible hitting w/ risp since May. He hit .154 in June, .143 in July, and a ROBUST .000 so far in August He's the most overrated player on Soxtalk. Everybody loves his stolen bases, but not only can he not drive home runs, he doesn't score that many.
  6. Uribe has been pretty good at getting runners in from 3rd with less than 2 out. Hopefully it will continue today.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) So I know it's a 3-0 count...but why exactly is Blum not bunting again? He must not be very good at it.
  8. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) We make a lot of running errors for a first place team. Carl delivers the RBI and then get's gunned down. What's the deal? Don't forget, he got injured on a baserunning blunder.
  9. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) Blum, Widger, Uribe= That would be sad in Kannapolis.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) Yeah, stirring s*** up again... looking at it positively, it seems that the Reds might have told Griffey they put him on waivers and if he cleared they're going to try and move him. Still didn't sound 100% he would waive his rights Why I would love to put Griffey in the middle of the White Sox line up, there's probably a very small chance of that happening. KW does need to add a bat, if only in case of injury. If Everett gets hurt and his .258 bat can't be in the line up, it will be very difficult for this team to get more than 2 or 3 runs a game in the playoffs, and that won't get the job done in a 7 game series.
  11. Looks like Freddy is going to have to be very sharp today.
  12. Yankee fans are so depressed with the loss they are jumping from the upper deck.
  13. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) Anyone else think Aaron could of thrown out Crosby at 3rd? He had a shot, but its not worth the chance because the other runner would probably get to second.
  14. Williams is hitting .246 against both righties and lefties. He does hit for more power from the left side of the plate. This inning has been managed horribly.
  15. It almost seems like Marte is afraid he is going to bean a LH batter.
  16. That last pitch was at least 6 inches outside. I don't know why Hawk and DJ are crying.
  17. QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) well if he is not throwing his back is probably stiff. Gonna be like this the rest of the year. He's warming up in the bullpen.
  18. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) Matusi destroys lefties, but I bet Ozzie knew that too. He's hitting .338 against LHP with 7 of his 17 homers in less than half the at bats. You make a great point.
  19. QUOTE(tony72 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) CREDE'S FAVORITES: MUSIC : POP Music FOOD: POP Corn BREAKFAST: POP Tarts CEREAL: Kellogs Corn POPS DRINK: Soda POP That's pretty good.
  20. Joe did get one of his pop ups tonight to go 90 ft. Thank you very much for the walk.
  21. QUOTE(winodj @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) I was kinda scared of tripping in the third row of the club level. I was at a Bulls game once in the first row of the top and they were shooting t-shirts up. A woman came flying down the aisle trying to catch one and flew into the plexiglass. I thought for sure she was flying over.
  22. QUOTE(tony72 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) I have been to the cell several times in the upper deck and I am surprised it hasn't happened there and hasn't happened in baseball more often.. Most of the upper deck at USCF they would fall to the club level. Would still do a lot of damage.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) I know you didn't mean anything cruel. Everyone just needs to take a step back and realize how lucky he was that he didn't die. If you've ever sat in the front row of an upper deck, it's scary as hell when you look down. Thankfully, we didn't have a horrible tragedy occur. The kid wasn't the only lucky one. Whoever he fell on would have been in bad shape too.
