  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) Does Iguchi speak English or Spanish? I didn't think he did. Actually, I've never even heard him speak. I"m pretty sure only Japanese.
  2. Huff would be great to have. Baez is not a reliable relief pitcher.
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) He had a no-trade clause for the Yankees and Red Sox because, at the time, they both had established closers on their team. Eddie has another clause in his contract that gives him more money for closing out more games, I believe. He won't go to the Yankees, IMO. He will, again IMO, accept a trade to the Red Sox if he has the chance. The White Sox have Hermanson, so he might have to share the closer role here, thus he has less incentive to come here. I really wouldn't doubt him accepting a trade to the Red Sox, if they offer the Mariners enough to land him. EDIT: The reason he might not want to come here or New York is because of Hermanson and Rivera. With Foulke being hurt, he might be inclined to go there. If he was traded to the White Sox, I don't believe he has no trade protection. IIRC when he was a free agent KW pursued him very aggressively. There were many reports saying he would probably sign with the White Sox. If Wagner is not available, and this guy is for a prospect, KW must grab him. Its a no-brainer. Hermanson's back can be a problem at any time. They are going to need someone with a lot of experience closing games, especially and hopefully in the playoffs.
  4. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) Incredibly rediculous. UNDER .500....holy s***!!!!! That's not as bad as 1994. At the time of the strike the Rangers were leading the AL West. They were 10 games under .500.
  5. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) lol! Than the cubs would be robbed. Yeah trade Ramirez for Mueller and Manny Ramirez. Wow! What the cubs need is a leadoff man and no jerry hairston isn't a Major League Leadoff man. He is a utility player. Wow! Here is a suggestion to the Cubs, A. Ramirez can really hit and while isn't good defensively he is having a better year than Manny. Manny can't even play defense. They would get Mueller to play 3rd. He's pretty good with the glove. Manny would be unbelievable at the Urinal.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) wow, I think if Cubs get Manny they would want to keep Aramis... you want the Lee/Ramirez/Ramirez threat... if the Cubs aren't going to get bullpen help they need to outslug people Aramis makes $10 million a year, the Cubs would need to move some salary. Stone was explaining it, I wasn't paying full attention. The Cubs really like Mueller I guess.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) I predict Manny is on the Cubs by Sunday afternoon. Steve Stone was on PTI mentioning a package that included Aramis Ramirez, Patterson, Mitre and a couple of minor leagers for Manny and Mueller.
  8. Ozzie got 6 out of El Duque. He should be satisfied with that and not try to stretch his luck another inning.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) Who throws harder: Iguchi underhand or Willie overhand? A third option is Jim Parque. Parque is 3rd, the others are a toss up
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) and so is she, according to people who've worked with her. He's not supposed to be a prince himself. They must be made for each other.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) Tough life he has now, taking his millions and going home to Lisa Guerrero. Life's a b****
  12. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) ESPN NEWS TICKER!!! They said a minimum of 4-6 weeks. I don't wish injury on anyone, but I think thats a case of karma.
  13. espnnews says he's going to be out a minimum of 4-6 weeks. Remember Jaime Burke? Karma's a b****, Torii.
  14. I wonder how much beer vendors make on a steamy night with El Duque on the mound.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) Manny's getting the treatment from Boston fans. He deserves it, the spoiled little baby. He can hit, though.
  16. Didn't Manny say he wanted to be traded because of privacy issues? I know he would love to go to NY because one of the times he asked to be traded he popped off about wanting to be a Yankee. How would moving to NY take care of those privacy issues? He can hit, but he's a jackass.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) NO! That's f***ing stupid. You don't trade Crede and put Huff in as a replacement, Crede is one of the reasons that the Sox have gotten this far, his defense has been absolutely stellar this season. Replacing him with Huff would be a GIANT downgrade defensively. Huff can not play 3B everday. Well, if they were to trade Crede, I'm sure they have another thirdbaseman they know they could get, I wouldn't think you would want Huff at 3rd regularly either. I would imagine they would go for Lowell, or maybe look to get Bell back from Philly as well. That's if there is any truth to this.
  18. Will Carroll in Baseball Prospectus said the White Sox sweetened their offer to Philadephia for Wagner by throwing Crede in. It was McCarthy, Marte and now Crede. Maybe it means they would acquire Huff to play 3b. Maybe it isn't even true. But it is some new information.
  19. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) with all his injuries does anybody think that because of all Frank's injuries that Sox could sign to like a Matt Morris type deal in the off-season. That's all he could hope for. Maybe like a base of $3 million with a lot of bonuses. This is assuming he isn't completely done. Frank is going to get a $3.5 million buyout. Considering 3 of the last 5 years his season has been cut short by major injuries, if he's able to play again, I doubt any team would guarantee him anywhere near $3 million . That is assuming Levine's report to be correct. Its also funny how people who have bought the White Sox "more balanced" offense bunk, are also going on and on about what a force Frank was this season. He was the ultimate all or nothing guy, that's all his body would allow him to do. It was basically a homerun, a strikeout, a pop out or a double play this year. Hopefully KW can get a legitimate #3 hitter in the next couple of days. The White Sox will be far better off with someone new than with Frank Thomas playing at 50-75%.
  20. He also has a no trade and supposedly won't waive it unless he goes to the west coast. It ain't happening.

  23. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) Even hitting .220 Frank is still a more valuable hitter than anyone else the Sox have. A hell of a lot better than Everett or Gload, for sure. I disagree. Unless he was going to be able to keep that homerun pace up.
  24. QUOTE(ptatc @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) if he re-fractured it after 7 months of rehab and playing for only for about 2 months, it may be time to hang them up. They mentioned the possibility of fusion surgery last winter. From what I was told fusion surgery would end his career.
