  1. This is bogus. If the White Sox were playing Cleveland for their playoff lives and either the Yankees or Red Sox put this crap on the field which would hurt their chances, there would be outrage. I have no problem with a regular Sunday line-up tonight, but this is stretching it. If Cleveland rolls tonight, this will have repercussions in the future, believe me. I also wouldn't be surprised if the Ozzie gets a call from the commissioner's office as well. And before anyone skewers me, just put yourselves in NY or Boston's shoes.
  2. QUOTE(LauraJ14 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) Just to throw a monkey wrench into this but if Cleveland wins 2 of 3 from the Sox and Boston wins 2 of 3 from the Yankees, then all 3 are tied. So on Monday, Yankees/ Red Sox play for the division, loser plays Cleveland on Tues for wild card. Don't know what that does to the Sox schedule then. That would back it up a day I believe, and you would love to get Boston or NY then as their pitching staffs would be highly stressed, especially Boston's, they haven't had many off days the last couple of months.
  3. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) i love how hawk's gotten to swearing these days its hilarious. 'you get to the playoffs by being a good team damnit!' That was a great quote. However, if you consider the San Diego Padres, it isn't necessarily true. I do love when Hawk gets a little sassy.
  4. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) this isn't the playoffs - not yet. If we lose today, we got 3 chances to win one. I say leave the regulars out there - Iguchi, Hermy, etc... Its not the playoffs but its a chance to close it out. I think Jenks gives you the better chance.
  5. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) I'd like to see Hermy get it. Its nice to be sentimental and all, but that's what cost Boston a World Series in 1986. McNamara brought in a defensive replacement for Buckner all year but wanted him out on the field for the celebration. Stick with Jenks.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) you gotta keep cotts in here, he has been GREAT against righties And Jenks has been better againsts lefties so far in his brief career.
  7. I think saying 5 more outs should be outlawed on this site. Considering what happened with 5 outs to go a couple of years ago, and all the laughter and joy it brought us, to say the Sox have the same amount of outs to go really sets up the bad karma.
  8. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) yeah but its a waste since the game will be blacked out in the chicagoland area... Put a foreign address in the registration.
  9. I only have access to gameday or gamecast whatever its called, but it appears the offense seems to think it has enough runs. Maybe they do, but I would love to see a few more on the board.
  10. Get on Grilli early and often.
  11. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) nope it happened in 01 with Houston and St. Louis. St.Louis won the Central because of their head-to-head advantage and Houston won the WC. Then why are they saying the Sox magic number is 2? If your scenerio is correct it would be 1.
  12. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Contreras has become the Sox 3rd 15 game winner. Someone might want to drop Jeff Brantley a note.
  13. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) THIs GUY PUT THE TEAM ON HIS BACK AND WON WHEN FEW OTHERS ON OUR TEAM WON! THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT WITHOUT HIS EFFORTS WE MIGHT BE LOOKING UP AT THE INDIANS............... JOSE.................YESSSSSS Might be? There is no doubt about it.
  14. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) No, a tie at the end of the season will result in a one game playoff, not head to head matchups. Sorry to disappoint. The problem with a playoff especially if you lose you are still in the playoffs is it really messes up your pitching staff for the first round.
  15. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) Wait - if the Sox go into Cleveland up 3 games then the tribe could conceivably sweep and force a one game playoff if they end the regular season with the same record. That's my understanding. That's what I thought, but another thread said that's not the case.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Here's a question I waited for the game to end to ask: If the Sox win tomorrow, they win the AL Central due to head-to-head tiebreak. Do the Sox go all out against Cleveland, or rest the pitchers/players? They probably need to rest some guys, but it would be BS to throw a Sunday line-up out there more than one time, considering the Boston/NY/Cleveland race.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) At night while we play at noon. I want Cleveland to win tomorrow so we can clinch on the field on Friday. It was in another thread that if the Sox and Cleveland tied and they were ahead of the second place team in the East that there would be no playoff that the Sox would win due to head to head competition. Is this true, because if it is a victory tomorrow clinches the Central.
  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) Jenks hasn't pitched much lately, and hasn't been very impressive lately. His curve is not as sharp. Then he drops one off the table. Yes.
  19. Jenks hasn't pitched much lately, and hasn't been very impressive lately. His curve is not as sharp.
  20. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) Tejada they come, Tejada they fall. A little Chris Berman never hurts. A lot of Chris Berman is cruel and unusual.
  21. Maggs looks like he's trying to drop in a mullett.
  22. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) French?? Yes, what he said.
  23. Hat's off to the Count. Without him the Sox are toast.
  24. A laugher at last.
  25. Save some runs for tomorrow.
