QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Watching Garland pitch is like a breath of fresh air after watching Contreras stink up the joint yesterday. After watching Contreras last night, watching a kid pitching in Pony League would be a breath of fresh air.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) I don't get to watch the Sox a lot, but has Pods been taking fewer pitches over the past few months? He's not walking as much. I think teams are realizing they are far better off making him swing the bat.

Garland's making them swing the bat. This game looks promising. Hopefully, the offense stays with their approach.

If Garland makes them hit the ball tonight, Oakland's not going to score many runs.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) Yeah I guess last year's Frank is a lot closer than 90's Frank. 2 down. Good. That was for his career.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) Probably, but I also remember him swinging on 3-0 too. I almost wish he would since it looks like he's only trying to hit a home run. Might as well serve up that pitch. They showed a stat last year on Frank with a 3-0 count, and his average was brutal. It was well under .200 for his career.

Around The Majors
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) He's getting paid like $17 million this season. Honestly, if you were him, would you really care that much about next year? That's not really what I was getting at. The fact that he gets paid as much as he does makes his decline even more startling. He's Jason Giambi without the 3 or 4 years left on his contract. Maybe he turns it around in the second half, but if he continues at his current pace its possible he might be done. I'm sure some team would give him a contract for next year at a very reduced rate, maybe with some incentives, but he may think that he is above that and walk away.

TRADE THREAD II ~ July 2 - July 8
QUOTE(wdson01 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) el duque has proven in his past stints with the yankees that he would do fine without any fellow cubans on the staff. Contreras, however, seems to need the comfort of having someone who he can talk with as seen by how well he pitched earlier in the year compared to how much dick he sucked in the majority of his career before that Contreras' numbers were pretty impressive in 2003. He also had a very dominating performance against the White Sox in Sept. 03. 2004 was a different story. But he did have some pretty awesome performances when he first came to the White Sox.

Around The Majors
Corky Steriods got bench by Baltimore. Has hit only 1 homer the last 16 games and hasn't driven in a run the last 10. It appears this guys whole career was based on performance enhancers. I wonder what kind of money he'll be looking at next season.

TRADE THREAD II ~ July 2 - July 8
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Don't get me started on Kevin Walker. He doesn't deserve to be in the majors. In fact, I dont' think he'd be on any other major league team if the Sox were to cut him. I'm absolutely appalled that Ozzie has went with the familiarity instead of going with the better players (Baj/Jenks). I realize he wants to have a 2nd lefty, but if that lefty is crap, than you should go with another righty, plus Cotts can be used on a more heavy basis and there are plenty of teams that can go through stretches with just one lefty reliever. Hell, for a few years the Angels didn't have any. This is so true. There is no reason Kevin Walker should be in the major leagues. Even Arnie Munoz is a more attractive option. Ozzie is way too in love with lefty/lefty matchups. Just get someone in there who can get someone out.
