The problem with that is the players coming back have to clear waivers. Nady and a couple of good cheap other guys are supposed to be going to Pittsburgh. Those guys won't clear waivers. I doubt MLB would let SD claim these 2 on waivers, and give Pitt. some players after the season circumventing the rules. It is Selig, however, anything can happen.

I was referring to the incident where Fisk and Donn Pall were not allowed into the clubhouse during the playoffs. They were both part of the team that year. i remember something about that, maybe somebody could tell this better than i. if i remember and i am giving the opportunity to be wrong, but i think there was a vote and the players didn't want them there. with fisk was the way he was forced to retire and they couldn't allow pall in after they did that to fisk, I'd certainly be interested in having that story confirmed, if it is correct. That's the first I've heard about that. you know what, i remember that, but as i said, i may be wrong on this. the situation of forcing fisk to accept retirement was a distraction and was ugly. i know that the sox took a hit on the pr side, but it was a deed that needed to be done. Even that point is debatable, though at the time it occured I felt the same as you. However, I have since heard about Fisk expressing the fact the Lamont would not give him any playing time and therefore Fisk could not get things going. Could just be sour grapes on Carlton's part, but who knows. I loved Fisk as a player, but he was done. If he had anything left someone would have picked him up, and he really could have stuck it to JR, Lamont and everybody else who thought he couldn't play anymore. How old was he, 45?

Yes he does. I think Gammons meant San Diego, they look like the team those 2 are headed to.
-
If he was claimed, they could always pull him back, which I'm sure they would. But they can't trade him until the season is over without him clearing waivers now
-
I doubt Giles would clear waivers, the Yanks, even the Sox and Twins, would probably claim him. His contract is very reasonable considering his production. In the off season I wouldn't doubt if KC makes a play for these 2. Beltran will probably be dealt, freeing up some cash, the only thing is they both have no trade clauses.
-
They could have had sumo wrestling night. Those 2 could have been the main event after the game. It would be awesome. Is is wrong to want to see Livan and Bartolo stripped down to a jock strap, all oiled up, grabbing hold of each other, bumping there bellies into each other, while Herm Schneider jumps up and down in delight?Counselor, I think not.

The Sox were down 2-0 in the first 2 games, and 4-1 at one point in the second game. Also, blew a 2 run lead in game 3. Earlier this season, these were games that would have been lost. Hopefully, they have turned the corner completely, and will bring home the Central crown. I believe they have and will.
-
When you come into their house trailing them by 4 games, and sweep their ass, it is a big deal. Hopefully, the Sox get take 2 out of 3 at Seattle, and sweep KC back home. This was the most important series of the year so far, and the Sox stepped up. If the Sox would have been swept, this season would have been, for all intents and purposes, over. So cheer up, we have meaningful games to watch for the next 2 months.

I loooooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvve the Alomars
-
Schoneweise will be coming in.
-
Another tough luck no decision for Estaban. He could easily be 18-2 this year.
-
I wish we could have seen Koch tonight too. Pitching for KC
-
I hope he turns it around. Look at his performance, this is too big a game to experiment. Go with Flash.
-
I would tell Koch to take a shower. So that means if they put him in he'll strike out the side.
-
If Koch gets in this game, and blows it JM should be canned right in the dugout.
-
Koch is warming up. JM has lost his mind.
-
Zito, Mulder, and Hudson will be free agents in a couple years. Chances are they all will be Yankees.
-
Put Marte in NOW.
-
I starting to walk to my closet to get my broom.

He blows. Who are they gonna pick up next Minnie Minoso?

The trade I've been wanting to see for 30 years
Dick Allen replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You see it in the NFL but I've never seen it in baseball, but my favorite trade is for past considerations. How about a PTBNL for past considerations. -
I think they know that they aren't going to win the division, yet couldn't get away with trading Beltran. So in the spirit of keeping the fans on their good side and in showing the players they are trying to win, they make this move, which is basically a token move for show. This sets them up for next year to rebuild how they had planned before, without turning all their fans away. I'm surprised they haven't re'signed Chuck Knoblauch for the stretch run.

Evidently Suppan has been traded or sold to Boston, so that will make Gammons happy.
-
His problem is every team is trading for every player. So it a trade occurs he has his ass covered, and came up with a scoop. Gammons baseball acumen was on display at the All Star Game. He picked Boone to win the HR Derby. Boone hit 0 HR's and even whiffed at one. For the actual game he compared the NL line up to the 1933 game's AL lineup, Ruth Gehrig, Foxx ect....and said if the NL had the lead after six the game was over. It wasn't a Cap Cod league team the AL had out there, but listening to him you would have thought that. Gammons is mostly fiction, there's really no substance to most of what he says.
-
He did, but only after this Boone deal came to light. Even then he was nearly as upset about the Williamson purchase, as he was about the Boone-dogle.
