  1. Yeah I always get a kick out of body language comments. Manny and his wife are getting their asses kissed more than any of us could imagine. How could their body language be anything but great?
  2. Most articles I read are not taking the White Sox very seriously with Machado or Harper. That could be good. That could be bad .
  3. I am guessing Mannys wife probably prefers the White Sox because her brother is now here, but for how long? Manny most likely is Yankees. Maybe the compromise is taking the stupid money in Philadelphia.
  4. Is the fact that most of the Phillies braintrust was in Baltimore when they drafted him good or bad?
  5. Machado was to spend several hours visiting with Phillies officials. He and his wife, Yainee, were to have lunch in a suite overlooking the field and Machado's image on Phanavision. A tour of the clubhouse and other ballpark facilities was planned. The Phillies' welcoming party included Klentak, Kapler, managing partner John Middleton, club president Andy MacPhail, assistant general manager Ned Rice, hitting coach John Mallee and bench coach Rob Thomson. Surely, there would be a give and take, with Machado asking questions about the team's direction and team officials asking about the controversial "Johnny Hustle" comments that he made in October. Dinner, at an undisclosed location, was planned in the evening and Machado is scheduled to return home to Miami on Friday morning.
  6. Portis out 2-4 weeks with an ankle sprain. The tank is on.
  7. Sullivan's write up and the Tribune's tweet don't really sinc up.
  8. He said in the article Stroman admitted it was just his opinion, no inside info.
  9. He is not the Cubs reporter anymore. He is just their baseball guy. He took Phil Rogers' job. He's actually a White Sox fan in real life.
  10. From the NY Post: There was a report that the Yankees want an answer from Machado soon, but an industry source believed the process will go into January.
  11. Yes. I actually like live musicals. But movie musicals I cannot take for 5 minutes.
  12. IMO, to get both, a lot of teams' interest would have to be overstated. The Dodgers and Cubs wouldn't be able to enter. The Yankees would have to lowball, and the Phillies "stupid money" would have to be stupidly average if not even lower. If you have the money to possibly get both, there should be no reason you do not get one.
  13. Since they stuck their necks out and admitted what is being done, they need to get one. Getting both would obviously be great, but that isn't realistic. I was looking for when Hunter blew off the Sox in Nov 2017 and was reading some KW quotes and he was pissed off the Sox were mentioned signing anyone. Now he's on camera saying what they need is available now. If there are no financial restraints, pay what is needed. Each of these guys has a number where their dream team will not be their dream team anymore. And what not getting Torii Hunter did to the White Sox was pretty amazing. Swisher would most likely never have happened. And we would probably never have had the Darrin Erstad Experience. Sometimes paying a couple of million more is well worth it.
  14. Ken Rosenthal HOF ballot. Proof positive he has a problem with the White Sox. Notice all the guys who played on the South Side. Notice the lack of checks by their names. 0 for 8. JK
  15. The White Sox have earned their reputation.
  16. The White Sox biggest problem is obviously their irrelevance. It is something they have seemingly accepted the last decade. Even when they are “going for it” they do it like the Reds or Pirates would do it. Not like the teams that these guys really want to play for do it. Signing one of these guys will help them perhaps overcome this. But it’s a chicken/egg thing. I fully expect to hear Harper and/or Machado say some really nice things about the White Sox, just like Torii Hunter after he blew KW off., when they blow off the team. Some will thinkthat means the team turned a corner. To me, for that corner to be turned the target needs to be signed.
  17. This still has a few hurdles to clear. Including POTUS.
  18. Sounds like a guy who would know everything. I wonder why the future sox guy’s don’t ask Zack Collins what is going on with these 2. He should know
  19. Now since Amsler threw Thome a bone at the end and predicted Thome would be in the room when Machado has a press conference announcing his signing with the White Sox is MLBN cool again?
  20. Yes, Chicago. The only way these teams get a new stadium is if they build it themselves.
  21. There was zero chance the Cubs would leave Wrigleyville. And taxpayer funded stadiums are going to be tough to get from here on out. They did redo Soldier Field, but that was already owned by the park district. The United Center was privately funded. Just some infrastructure around there was all that was public. JR got his sweetheart deal. He probably is the last.
