  1. BTW after random googling turned up a bunch of articles on Lebron's work ethic, I'm fully retracting my earlier statements.
  2. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ May 26, 2011 -> 04:22 PM) I haven't read this thread lately so sorry if this thought was already posted. Am I the only one who thought it was humorous when lebron was shouting "don't call no foul, I don't want no foul" because he whines every single damn time something doesn't go his way? Or is it funny because what he really said with double negatives is "call a foul, I want a foul". Guarantee if they're down 10 at that point he's crying.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 26, 2011 -> 04:22 PM) Shaq was on the Heat when they won it in 2006. owned. Still, if anything, the better comparison would be The Lakers, since they won it 6 times in 10 years, not three players who won with three different teams.
  4. It was a comment directed at that one part of one post and it was pretty much off-topic.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 26, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) The point starts out so well, and then it doesn't. LeBron is absolutely nothing like Jordan in personality or how he handles the media and infers in his comments. Why does everything have to be f***ing Jordan!? Lebron's more of the oblivious, spoiled douche whereas Jordan was really just an asshole.
  6. "The Heat" is not comparable to three individual players who played on several different teams. It also doesn't hold for 2008, 2006 or 2004.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 26, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) We are on the losing end when it comes to losing business. I never said whether or not that was an overall "loss", or whether or not those restrictions were with merit, just simply by having restrictions you will lose some business. Too many people ignore or fail to acknowledge that gutting regulations and rules and taxes/services to attract business could maybe have negative impacts on citizens. You see it in the gloating every time some state passes some rule or regulation by others saying that their state, with lower standards, will gladly keep lower standards to appease business. Of course there's no denying that people do need jobs and that competition really exists, but that doesn't mean we need to always give in to the exploitative power structure and give businesses whatever they want when they threaten to take away jobs.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 26, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) Can Lebron act like a more whiny, immature douche by referring to Rose as "MVP" or "The MVP" in his recent interviews? God I despise him. He's clearly over it
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 26, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) I dont think allowing people to compete for jobs is a race to the bottom. Its just the only way around the unfortunate fact that certain people dont want to allow legal immigration out of fear. This started as a reaction to the idea that "we" are on the losing end of e.g. having better EPA regulations because we're not giving into business' demand to pollute more freely.
  10. Also, illegals working under a falsified SSN will still be paying payroll taxes and will likely have withholdings. They just won't be filing a return, but they'd probably end up qualifying for EIC and not pay any income taxes anyway, since it's not exactly high-paying positions they're taking.
  11. But selling out your state to attract businesses in a race to the bottom doesn't necessarily mean a net positive for the State or a majority of its citizens.
  12. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 26, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) More business in the state generally equals more revenue for the state which means indirectly a win for me as Im in the state. It means more revenue for the businesses, not necessarily for the state. Especially if those businesses are there due to gutted tax codes, subsidies, gutted environmental and workplace safety, etc.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) At the end of the day, both party's do this stuff all of the time by stuffing their crap into bills that "have" to be passed. This is simply the latest in a really, really long line of the same old s***. Did Democrats demand that funds for Republican initiatives get stripped to fund Katrina aid?
  14. btw this applies to estate tax cuts, top-bracket tax cuts holding a the rest of a tax cuts package hostage and the posturing over the debt ceiling.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) It they had any real fear of Obama actually having some spine, they wouldn't do it. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 26, 2011 -> 03:02 PM) Doesn't really explain or excuse the Republicans' tactics of forcing everyone to go along with their terrible policies so that they don't sabotage everything. edit Obama didn't really have the option of not signing this, as Balta pointed out, because Joplin needs the money ASAP. Which, if anything, highlights the sociopathy of the Republicans exploiting a natural tragedy to cut funding for a clean energy program they don't like.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 26, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) Indeed via 2005 2011
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 26, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) The guy has been outstanding on the defensive end in this series. He's been playing just as hard as anyone on Bulls. Which means he's playing well above their abilities.
  18. Congress, including Democrats, are pushing hard for a quick vote to extend the PATRIOT Act for another 4 years with no modification or review by using the same scare tactics Republicans used in 2005 when the same Democrats claimed to be concerned about civil rights violations. New boss, same as the old boss etc.
  19. Maybe the "Ghost of Jim Thome" really is the "lack of a good DH"?
  20. It's based on a perception that Lebron should be even better than he currently is.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 26, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) But back then you could physically manhandle perimeter players. Joe Dumars wasn't a great defender because of his athletic ability. Could LeBron go down low more? Maybe. But it's really not an issue. Not at this stage in his career when he's in his athletic prime. With a good post game, he'd be unguardable. I'm not saying he's some lazy POS who's wasting his talents, just that he's never appeared quite as dedicated as other some other players. And that, given his natural talents, if he was as focused, he'd be even better than he is now.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 26, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) Were you even listening on Tuesday night? LeBron totally changed his routine team to be capable of beast mode come this time of year after getting his ass beat going deep into the playoffs year after year by his f***ing self. Yoga, weights, training, gym. It ain't no picnic, and it doesn't happen by magic. fyp
  23. 24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 26, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) I have to agree with this... look at LeBron's f***ing frame and how ripped he is. He's f***ing huge. That's not magic. I've been working for 5 months to drop weight and add muscle. Sure, it's his job, but LeBron is a physical beast and that doesn't happen by sitting on your ass. Lifting weights isn't the same as working on your game, though.
  25. QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 26, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) I never said he should, I simply said he could. Doesn't really explain or excuse Republicans' actions, though.
