  1. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) I will be hoping to make this analogy come February. 2005 White Sox: Jay Mariotti as 2010 Bears: Trent Dilfer At least Jay flip-flopped all season long. Even last Sunday (or was it Monday?) night, Dilfer couldn't give the Bears any credit. Jay's play was solely due to the Jets not playing well enough, apparently.
  2. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) Agreed. It's like they took the worst parts of Pawn Stars and American Chopper and put them together in one show. Aren't most of those shows just different backgrounds for people yelling at each other?

    True Grit was pretty awesome
  4. No one can deny that the Bears have been pretty lucky this year with the injuries.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 09:27 AM) 6 feet might be generous. You really need 8-10 if you're going to play any game where you run up towards the screen, plus another 4-6 feet in width. As I said when the Kinect was first introduced, it'll be a huge financial success, but ultimately it's a gimmick and there won't be much there for the future. Yeah, it's fun to use your body to block shots in soccer, or dodge items thrown at you or whatever, but really any average gamer out there has the same complaint - lack of control. Tiger Woods sounds awesome, but at the end of the day it's not a true simulation because you have a 4 oz piece of plastic in your hand, not an actual club. You can't find the limits of movement like you can with a hand held controller. I just don't see where they take this technology, though it is pretty awesome how accurate it is. It's really targeted towards the non-traditional gamer, though. I think it just opens them up to new market segments; they're not trying to win guys like T R U over, but families and very casual gamers.

Going to the movies tonight or tomorrow: Black Swan or True Grit?
  7. QUOTE (T R U @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:42 AM) 1.96 K/D and 7th prestige what you scrubs at? Just got 1st prestige tonight, level 11 now. Those last 5 levels take forever. K/D right around 1, started off about .8 and have been improving since. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) MW2 was absolutely terrible. Black Ops fixes everything wrong with MW's multiplayer, but it is still not MW1. Campaign is decent. Story is a little out there, even for Call of Duty standards. COD4> Black Ops> COD2> MW2=WAW>COD3 I never got to play MW1 all that much, but I'm enjoying BO more than MW2. Probably just because I'm better. BO's single player was pretty awful, though.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) This just MOMENTS ago on ESPN, and this is an exact quote: "I am all over the Packers. Aaron Rodgers running the show, I think they're just a better team than the Chicago Bears and more to play for." - Trent Dilfer There's more great analysis by Dilfer. Remember when he called their offense "pathetic" and said they'd win 10 games at most just a couple of weeks ago? Brilliant.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 10:59 PM) He's pretty good. Jaws and Gruden bring down the overall quality a TON. There's no way ESPN can trot out this trio again next year. ESPN's booth has been consistently terrible since they got MNF. Remember Kornheiser?
  10. My performance in COD has gone up dramatically with a fresh batch of new players.
  11. Wow, quick turnaround by the Bears. I'm happy to see them come back like that after looking like the wheels came off.
  12. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 08:32 AM) Right there with you... and I have a feeling your home value is WAY more then mine, yet I still pay $4000 a year. I have a feeling both of yours are way more than mine, but I'll still be paying more in property taxes. Lousy western suburbs.
  13. Obama and Co. decided "oh wait maybe we shouldn't crap all over our base that got us elected in 2008" in the last couple of weeks, apparently.
  14. Seriously, that's a depressing read.
  15. Microwave radiation map hints at other universes. And a post by one of the authors
  16. This is a pretty ridiculous derail, but "on par with" does not mean "equivalent to." Dolphins and humans both belong to a pretty small group of highly intelligent animals, along with some other mammals like pachyderms and chimps and some birds like New Caledonian crows. All of that is an irrelevant derail from the ridiculous assertion that animals can't be gay because they don't form social relationships on the human level, which is just a derail from the "natural" vs. "normal" conflation, which is a derail from why DADT was a terrible policy.
  17. I dunno why, but the body scanners are increasingly creeping me out. I've been choosing lines without them at airports, but I don't know how long that'll be an option. I know Midway just added one.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 08:27 AM) Intelligent yes, on par with? GMAFB. What makes you qualified to judge relevant intelligence levels in general, and of dolphins in particular? On what grounds, besides personal incredulity, are you questioning Jim's qualitative statement? ProTip: Jim really does have great and expansive knowledge on this topic.
  19. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 10:24 PM) It won't work if your dog likes it. My dog loves jumping up to the spray bottle and drinking the water. So yeah, my 1 year old puppy nips too to get me to play. I just stopped responding and it is slowly getting better. Yeah, immediately end play if he starts nipping. That's one way to do it.
  20. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 06:36 PM) this needs to be an official ST smilie.
  21. When 4G eventually rolls out for real, it'll be much higher than 20 mbps.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) The Senate has passed Start 3, by a 71-26 vote. The Beginning of the End of this Great Country! (sorry, I saw that img somewhere and had to use it)
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) Or instead of focusing on the red herring dog argument you can read the article that I linked which talks about 2 specific penguins as well as studies of various different primates and mammals. Right, I just don't feel like googling these things on my work computer. I'll go looking for some studies if I have time tonight.
