Current Compromise on Tax Cuts
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) You know, I agree with them taking a stand on this, but the idea that they have done everything Obama has wanted is just silly. Things like the Health Care bill, the Stim bill, were massively different than what Obama had wanted. Definitely not because of the Progressive dem's who are the strongest opposition to this agreement.

I love votes that fail with 57 in favor. f***, time for the "nuclear option" just so the terrible Senator rules get fixed.

Suh was fined $15k for his hit on Cutler. I dunno, seemed like a good call in real time but questionable in the replays. Unless the NFL has another camera angle I'm not seeing, I don't see how that hit was fine-worthy.

Crawford to Boston, $142 Million, 7 Years
QUOTE (SEALgep @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 06:42 AM) I don't understand this guy's logic, author not poster... How is PK a terrible first baseman? He picks everything! Now if you want to say his bat will come down some at 38, I wouldn't necessarily argue that. But to say he's a horrible first baseman? I don't get it... Keith Law's Logic is that he hates the White Sox for some reason and bashes every move they make.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) He's all over every story. He reports that every possible outcome is likely or even inevitable. He's got all sides covered like a blanket. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) And yet Cowley, with his great sources (read: randomly twittering every possibility), got it wrong. great timing

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) I think if you read my posts youll notice that I correctly predicted that Konerko would be back and that the Sox and him would most likely "split the baby" in terms of money. I had no inside sources or connections. I was armed with common sense. And yet Cowley, with his great sources (read: randomly twittering every possibility), got it wrong.

Current Compromise on Tax Cuts
Tax cuts don't work, spending doesn't work. So, what, we just sit and wait until the free market gets around to creating enough jobs so people don't starve and lose their houses?

Current Compromise on Tax Cuts
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 07:07 PM) Shocker that a liberal thinks the answer is throwing more money at the problem. We should have just given the 15 million unemployed in this country a 40k a year salary. That would have solved the unemployment problem. Giving money to the wealthy via tax cuts so they can be ever so generous by creating jobs to fill non-existent demand isn't a solution, but that's been GOP policy for decades now.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:49 AM) Stay class, Christine O'Donnell. LOL, I love the far-right's response of cheerleading tax cuts for incomes over $250k and estate tax cuts but lambasting extension of unemployment benefits for millions of Americans out of work. It's amazing that the Democrats still manage to lose the messaging battle when this is what they're facing.

Over-reaction, imo. They'll support him when he's running against Palin or some equally offensive Republican.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 08:01 AM) His "stamp" is clearly takeaways and scoring on the defensive side of the ball. The Bears lead the league in takeaways since Lovie arrived. I think that's pretty clearly the key of his defensive philosophy. As for his strengths, I think he prepares the team well. I believe he creates good schemes, good game plans, whatever you want to call them. The Bears are also fairly consistent in regards to their motivation to play a game. They do not seem to be as subject to letdowns or overlooking opponents as much as some other teams do. As for his weaknesses, he clearly has some in-game issues. He seems to be poor at clock management and challenges, as you said. Overall though, I believe he has been the best Bears coach of my lifetime. Certainly better than Mike Ditka. More consistent than Dick Jauron. Obviously better than Wanne. Maybe it's not saying much, and maybe he's not Bill Bellichick or Mike Tomlin, but there's not a lot of head football coaches I would rather have than Lovie Smith. Well said, sometimes my own Lovie-hate gets out of proportion. I'd accept him staying around a few more years as long as him and Angelo aren't tied together. No one can make any excuses for him.

Current Compromise on Tax Cuts
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 09:49 AM) I'm just saying that if you let those people know that in 6 months there will be no income coming in, guess what, they might have to change gears for a couple of years and take a job they normally wouldn't. These jobs don't exist.

Current Compromise on Tax Cuts
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 09:42 AM) I'd be willing to transfer if relocation is at least partially covered. And it depends on where the location is. Experience has been primarily in retail/wholesale. And yes, Internal Audit. Thanks Jason! I know I mentioned it a while ago, but the IRS is hiring in the Chicago area. Can't give any leg-up or recommendation beyond going to usajobs.gov, but someone was just talking to my dad about this on Thanksgiving.

But at least Democrats got the message Mark Kirk thinks the voters sent--tax cuts for the top 1%!

Ok, so his entire speech can be summed up by that, not just the start.

LOL, great start by Obama of throwing the Republicans under the bus. "We have really important things to get done, things that will help all Americans. But the Republicans refuse to do anything without giving ineffective millionaire and billionaire taxcuts, so we had to compromise on this issue."

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) Cutler fumbled the ball after Suh hit him? i dont remember that The ball came out when Cutler hit the ground. It looked like a fumble maybe at first look to me but it was clearly not a fumble on review, and was never called one on the field.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 08:51 PM) Getting tired of the postgame writeups that are acting like the Bears got "lucky" again because of that call on Suh and then all the dumbass comments that follow. The Bears got the ball with 5:17 remaining, they picked up a couple first downs and ran out the clock. Forte averaged 5 yards per carry. Cutler had a 100+ QB rating. They dominated TOP and the Lions offense got shut down in the second half (3 points came off a fumble recovery where the Bears O-line predictably collapsed again, other than that nothing.) Yeah they are really lucky the refs gave them 7 yards in a non-first down situation on a drive where they were probably going to score anyway. The NBC score scroll at the bottom of the screen mentioned the Bears being "helped" by a controversial call again. It was a close call on a bad hit and it didn't change the outcome of any play or drive. It gave the Bears an extra 7 yards. Ridiculous.
