Tea Party Libertarians complaining of co-opting
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) I have made my position crystal clear. Take away the incentives to come here. That is how you fix the problem for the most part. The incentive to come here is to live in a better country and have a job to feed your family.

QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) I'm probably reaching here, but anyone ever listen to Mr. Bungle? One of my friends was really big into them (and Mike Patton in general) a while back.

Technology catch-all thread
My Pioneer receiver decided to stop working last night. Was watching TV, switched over to play some Xbox and no sound. Switched back to TV to check, everything ok. Switched to Xbox, worked for a few minutes and then it shut off. Will not turn back on at all (tried different outlets, disconnected everything, checked the internal fuse). Of course, it's about two months out of warranty.

TSA - Going too Far?
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 01:11 PM) Away from the people? What about this scenario where the bomber, indicated by the red X, is surrounded by a snaking line with at least 100 people surrounding him? The blast and shrapnel will be absorbed by the people closest to the bomb. People 10 feet away have a wall of flesh and bone they're behind.

TSA - Going too Far?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2010 -> 05:23 PM) It is significantly less radiation than you receive from an X-Ray. It is significantly less radiation than you receive from being in an airplane at cruising altitude.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2010 -> 09:35 AM) To be fair, I think one could find lots of people who legitimately oppose this treaty for whatever reason. Simply saying that "Iran and North Korea" disapprove and therefore we should approve it is poor logic. If Iran and North Korea were to be in favor of such an agreement on the grounds that it could potentially free up loose Soviet Nuclear Material on the black market so that they could buy it, that wouldn't make us suddenly want to block the treaty. We should approve it because failing to do so is idiotic. Yeah, it's ad hominem. It's like crazy libertarians saying public schooling is bad because HITLER! started it (even though he didn't)!

Financial News
QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) My friend just quit her job to move to Texas, she hasn't left yet but she gets every resume applying for her job. She said it's been like 150 since they announced the vacancy. My fiance left her job back in August to go to school full time to finish up her teaching certificate. Her boss stopped bothering to check the email account after 200 resumes, but it was up around 500 when she left.

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) This is bull. That is your opinion. He has every right to say that. If you don't like reading it or have a different view, I think you should be the one to leave. NSS is admin, so I think his opinion on what flies in the forum counts.

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 08:34 AM) Really? Show us. I do know there are a few people who post in here who have derided all religions as a group. Some people find the very idea of religion as repugnant. I've also seen people criticize the catholic church for specific policy or doctrine, just as people do so regarding Islam. No problems there. What I haven't seen anyone do is "much worse" than calling a major global religion a cult. What would be worse than that, anyway? I'm sure the Catholic Church has been raked over the coals a few times here over the pedophilia issues and how they handle it. But they deserve that.

Just a reminder and wondering about Palin
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) Moderate success? lol wut. The 4 candidates she gave the most support (O'Donnell, Angel, Fiorina, and Miller) all took what should have been a lock and lost. Hell Miller was in her own state! A Republican still won AK, so that's not the same as some of the other candidates.

TSA - Going too Far?
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 08:59 AM) Great, we're 2% more secure than we were a year ago. So your odds of being killed on a plane due to a terrorist attack went from one in a billion to one in 990 million. Good excuse to force everyone to go through this crap. FWIW I agree with what you're saying here, I just don't think your earlier constitutional arguments hold up.

Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) I all fairness, he might have gotten his feet tripped up. But he never mad an effort to get back up and into the play. Yeah, that's the bigger problem. For some reason the announcer saying "Adam Archuletta just fell down!" from a Bears game a few years ago (where he literally just fell over for no reason near the goal line and the receiver or RB walked in) is stuck in my head. If he would have gotten up, the man blocking him wouldn't have been able to block 99, who may have had a shot at Vick.

TSA - Going too Far?
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) I think me saying that body scans and pat down searches is over the line is your answer. What more do you want? How do we prevent people from carrying dangerous non-metallic items onto planes?
