  1. I honestly don't get how anyone votes Republican.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 12:07 PM) And yet, we're managing to pull data from the Genesis mission. Extracting data from a crash is a bit different than having a functional satellite.
  3. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 09:39 AM) Can you imagin if something were to happen to one of those and it fell to earth? How about electromagnetic railgun-like launcher? Delicate satellites and scientific instruments, not to mention people, couldn't handle those accelerations.
  4. If you liked TWD, you'd probably like "World War Z", either the book version or audiobook version. The audiobook has some voice actors like Rob Reiner and Mark Hamill.
  5. stupid contrived objectivism and "balance"
  6. "Funding AIDS" vs. "funding AIDS prevention" poor phrasing by obama. Bush did provide a lot of funding, but there were some dumb "abstinence only education" strings attached IIRC
  7. "MAKE AWKWARD SEXUAL ADVANCES NOT WAR"
  8. Marxists are subverting our Constitution?
  9. justin beiber! oh wait it's not MLB. edit: ah s*** that's worse.
  10. Mick Foley, Reasonable Man. Who knew?
  11. Still can't believe the way Gallaraga handled that situation.
  12. At least up to this point, this has been pointedly apolitical.
  13. do I smell a Yusuf/Osbourne duet coming?
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2010 -> 12:05 PM) If I did the math right and the guy wasn't lying when he said "14 million" (and he didn't mean 10^14), that jump was a similar energy release to a magnitude 2.5 quake. he said 14 trillion times less, so 8 orders of magnitude below the 1905 quake, not 6.
  15. Didn't catch those. I'm just surprised there aren't big ads or banners at the rally itself.
  16. I'm not seeing any sort of advertising or sponsors.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) Bah, there's a difference between having a team that is going to stomp everyone and having a team that will be competitive and win sometimes. Except for 96-97's vengeance...the Bulls always had a legit challenger. I'd liken it to making a roster full of 99 rated players in a video game. Yeah, it's fun for a few games, but then it just gets boring.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 29, 2010 -> 10:05 AM) You're just attracted to pregnant chicks. FYI for those that don't know this: Dee and Mac are married in real life and she is really pregnant. Also Charlie and the waitress are either married or dating....i forget which. married
  19. It's enough of a headache to manage a virtual + physical security perimeter that's a few miles long. Managing a perimeter that's 2000 miles is a nightmare, particularly for the false and nuisance alarms mentioned in the article. These systems are not cheap, especially for any durable. I just don't think it's realistic to attempt a contiguous 2000 mile intrusion detection system.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) Always Sunny was terrific. I laughed for about five minutes straight with the ostrich.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2010 -> 07:29 AM) Why Not? If you can sell 17,500 tickets at $200/piece, and 18,000 at $100 a piece, why wouldn't you try to maximize revenue? If there are empty seats, they aren't priced right. You also lose parking, souvenir and concession revenues.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 29, 2010 -> 07:36 AM) You joke, but I actually think it may be the best eventual model to go with. The technology is there now to do it. Its expensive to set up, but way, way, way, way cheaper than any rocket launch to operate. The technical challenges are pretty daunting. I think the only material that would work for the cabling that we know of is carbon nanotube-like construction.
