  1. Linebrink pitched a scoreless inning? WTF?
  2. Carlos gets out on a stupid play and Cox sends Castro to be thrown out by a mile.
  3. Apparently our energy infrastructure is vulnerable to foreign attack. That could really screw us up if the attack was done by a foreign government in concert with an attack. Not sure it means that the proposed measure is a good idea though.

  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) Speaking of Fenway... Is it just me, or, historical neatness aside, is that not one of the worst ballparks in the Majors? It seems to reward balls that are hit poorly more than balls that are hit well. A rocket off the MONSTAH can result in a single, but a pop up can result in a homerun. A 302 foot ball that would normally be a foul about 40 feet before it reaches a normal fence can hook around Pesky's lame ass pole. I'm sorry, it's neat, it's different, but the anomalies it creates for the players who play there regularly and their stats is just annoying, and it seems like winning there is really a crapshoot. I feel the same.
  6. Kyle Orton....what the hell were the Broncos thinking?
  7. Xylocarps can produce tasty treats such as coconuts.
  8. I'm just pointing out that its not completely analogous to voting rights, though I do get the irony and would support free state ID's and requiring said ID's to vote.
  9. The Red Sox are doing their best White Sox impression right now
  10. This is a message to other teams: Beat our asses in 3 straight games and we'll make you pay!
  11. brush those flowing locks, Carlos.
  12. Mass. spent $44,121,000,000 on health care in '04, with an annual growth of 8.2% (source). so, in 2008, that would have been $60,047,000,000. Defensive medicine was 2.3% of total Mass. costs in 2008.
  13. I remember the good ol' days of $8 concerts in 110* heat at the Fireside.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) Actually, the main objection to registering guns is that it counters the very purpose of 2A, by allowing the government to know who has what guns. But as for the poll tax argument, that's only valid if people cannot obtain a proper ID for free. as long as they can, its not a tax. AFAIK, state ID's require some nominal fee.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 01:28 PM) Netflix = utorrent j/k I would NEVER do... something like that... Now it streams through the Xbox, sometimes in HD, and I've never had it lag. No need to download anymore!
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) The Kennedy brothers were all trust fund babies (JFK didn't even take a salary for being president, he donated it all to charity). He really didn't need the 150k a year or whatever it is senators make nowadays, and he probably could've done better than that if he wanted to without the Senate. Yeah, that's why I asked that. He was born into millions of dollars. He didn't need the paycheck or, arguably, the power.
  17. They can limit your access to a non-Constitutional-right event, such as a town hall. They can't institute what amounts to a poll tax (according to some) to exercise your right to vote. Isn't that the objection to registering your guns? That you shouldn't need a license to exercise your right? The comparison just doesn't work.

QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) I got that without the need for the extreme close-up, though. It was sort of "lord-privy-seal" if that's why he did it.
  19. Town hall meetings aren't a Constitutional right.
  20. Is it as hilariously inept as their budget proposal? Where's that section mandating government health care insurance?
