  1. more voter suppression, this time in Kentucky and directed by the DOJ
  2. more GOP voter suppression efforts in NC
  3. Obama didn't support the annexation of Crimea though?
  4. big congrats to WaPo reporter David Farenthold, who has been chasing down Trump's various charity dealings for over two years now.
  5. wonder if this wasn't pursued by the previous, now-disgraced AG because of the blackmail dirt Trump held over him? and why Ivanka and Jr. never had criminal charges pursued a few years ago?
  6. murals to Dear Leader at our former-Walmart child prison camps the inspirational quote comes from a section in the art of the deal on...kicking poor people out of his buildings
  7. don't forget, Trump himself retweeted British anti-Muslim hate group propaganda last year, and his administration was completely unapologetic about it.
  8. Note that the first story I posted isn't even about illegal immigration. Coming to a border checkpoint and seeking asylum is a perfectly legal process.
  9. They do stuff for the DoD via Amazon Web Services, aka providing data farm computing power. I wouldn't be shocked if they did similar for any of the alphabet agencies. Bezos started pushing hard against this modest tax the day after he was quoted in an interview saying that he couldn't even think of ways to spend his vast wealth. Maybe oligarchies are...bad?? the warehouse work conditions are really bad, but the management culture within their white collar world is awful, too. https://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/16/technology/inside-amazon-wrestling-big-ideas-in-a-bruising-workplace.html?partner=rss&emc=rss&_r=0 pretty horrific in the warehouses though
  10. No, no. They separated a 4 month old child. The dad immediately dropped his asylum claim and was deported so he could get his child back. The government has continued to hold on to the infant for another 4 months. The parents get a weekly Skype call, so that's nice. This is part of the reason for the child separation policy. Get asylum seekers to immediately drop their requests in exchange for not shipping their children to some random spot in the country, possibly even losing track of them. Abolish ICE and send everyone responsible to prison. Maybe we can build them a tent city in the desert to live out their lives in.
  11. Already seeing more fallout from SCOTUS giving the okay to partisan voter suppression, this time in Kansas:
  12. things are getting bad enough that this probably deserves its own thread. What we're doing is monstrous. It's gotten so awful they're now considering building tent prison camps for children. Abolish ICE, send Sessions and Nielson to The Hague.
  13. Pruitt probably deserves his own thread at this point
  14. (denuclearization would be an unqualified good thing) Trump seems to have backed himself into a corner by claiming yesterday that North Korea had also agreed to things not specifically laid out in the deal because, hey, they had a plane to catch and they ran out of time to add it. If we now come back and say "we didn't agree to that," how does that look? Ultimately, this meeting was good because it keeps Trump happy and placated while the real negotiations between Kim and Moon proceed.
  15. Another Democrat with a big swing in Wisconsin state senate seat last night, winning in a Trump +16 district. This was the election that the courts had to force Scott Walker to hold. Corey Stewart is a Minnesotan cosplaying as an unreconstructed Confederate.
  16. The NC GOP, which had their last voter suppression attempt via Voter ID struck down because they explicitly targeted minority voters, is trying to push through a constitutional amendment to require Voter ID. It's vague and leaves a whole lot to be worked out, but the goal is to pass it this way so that the Democratic majority state supreme court can't rule it unconstitutional. We don't need to ignore the years-long pattern of voter suppression efforts by the GOP when we look at the latest one. http://www.newsobserver.com/opinion/article212943754.html
