  1. QUOTE (Texsox @ May 28, 2009 -> 07:22 AM) We know people will die without food and water. We also know that not all medical treatments are 100% successful or without side effects. But there are people with spiritual beliefs who think you can live without food and water. We know they are wrong and that their child will die just as we know that these parents are wrong and that their child will die without treatment. No one is saying its 100% successful--that's not the point. The point is that not getting the treatment is 0% successful.
  2. Clearly, quoting Norman Thomas means she's a full-blown Socialist and supports his aims and objectives and not just the general idea of the quote.
  3. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 27, 2009 -> 03:26 PM) Go read the 14th amendment. Seriously. And I'll tell you why later if I get the chance. I have to go. the 14th cannot explain away the logical paradox of "objective interpretation." By definition, an interpretation is subjective.
  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 27, 2009 -> 03:10 PM) No they don't - at least they are not supposed to. They are supposed to INTERPRET the law, and if the law is f***ed up, they (legislative branch) go back and re-write it to pass Constitutional muster. PERIOD. What is all this relativism for? Why do libs love to hang themselves on everything being relative? Please explain how the idea of "objective interpretation" doesn't just eat itself in logic.
  5. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 27, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) No, that's not true. But I don't have time to debate this now, so liberals are always right, seeing as how they have total control of the government, they have to be always right. It's always different!
  6. She was involved in this case: http://www.reason.com/news/show/119481.html http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2008/0324/040.html
  7. Already digging out the quotes: "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male[...]" “court of appeals is where policy is made.”
  8. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 22, 2009 -> 05:49 PM) Riiiiiiiiiiight. Now let's compare Cheney to A-make-me-a-dickhead-a-jan. Again, give me a break. It makes me laugh how the "left" wants to paint this guy as the devil incarnate. The fact is, every time he's opened his mouth on something in the last couple of months, all of a sudden, Obama's relented or softened his stance. I know you all won't see it that way, but it is happening. Give me a break.
  9. QUOTE (Nixon @ May 22, 2009 -> 04:59 AM) Man. Heavy Rain looks terrible. Not graphically.. I mean gameplay wise. And by that I mean there looks like there is no gameplay at all besides QTEs and walking to the next QTE in a tiny environment. OH BUT LOOK A "GIANT" CLUB! Uhhh... yeah. QTE's are retarded.
  10. That's fantastic. Good move.
  11. Not exactly putting on a convincing advertisement for the team today.
  12. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) This is like that day/nite DH a few years ago when they did this twice in same day Yeah, but at least Thome hit Mauer in the head with the bat that game.
  13. If they get Peavy, I guess it really does mean MBINAA.
  14. Apparently there's an issue over what constitutes "publication" and whether or not this species officially has a name yet. http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/loom/200...arwinius-exist/
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 20, 2009 -> 02:28 PM) I remember reading somewhere that the kid had gone through chemo and didn't want to go through it again. The article in the OP says that he went once. It wasn't just refusing chemo. They weren't even getting chest xrays to see if it was spreading.
  16. It's a generally accepted fact that this kid will die without chemo. I think that a parent who refuses to treat their child in spite of this knowledge has demonstrated that they are mentally incompetent.
  17. Thanks for saving me a lot of typing, Balta. "Missing link" is really an early 20th century idea. I have a problem with him saying "direct ancestor". It's impossible to know direct lineages like that. Also, looks like it may be a little over-hyped. http://scienceblogs.com/laelaps/2009/05/po...erselling_a.php
  18. Jim thome rips one down the line, two runs score.
  19. I f***ing hate Carlos Gomez.
  20. Goal!!!!!! wait, wrong thread. Nice to tune in to see the Sox winning, though. Buehrle's been having a great year.
  21. It feels....weird I'm skeptical that they'll meet this standards while still producing vehicles people want for only $1300 more, but I'm hopeful that they can.
  22. The admin. estimates $1300/ car price increase to meet this new standards.
