  1. Jenks got a hitter to hit a ball that should have been caught and ended the inning. Pods, and Guillen by extension, messed it up.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 12:44 AM) Why even make that comparison. No matter what, you can't guarantee anyone, not even Carlos Beltran, would have thrown him out. Does it make a difference? Was Beltran in LF for the Sox tonight? Was Erstad or Anderson in LF for the Sox tonight? No, ok, so move on. I don't see the point in beating a dead horse. We know Pod's cant throw...oh well. It's not "oh well," its Guillen making another stupid move (non-move in this case) and refusing to utilize his players in the best possible manner. If I thought for a second that he'd learn from this mistake, I'd chalk it up to lessons learned, but he won't.
  3. When was the last time a Sox OF actually got an assist?
  4. Good point. Garland got into a little trouble at points, but he pitched his way out of it and had a very strong outing. Shame he couldn't get the win he deserved tonight.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) He said before the season even started the Anderson was his guy in the 8th and 9th for defensive purposes, still waiting for him to come through on that promise. He also lied about the ST situation regarding winning a spot in CF. Ozzie's word is meaningless now.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 12:18 AM) There would be a billion less complaints from us if it was Anderson in LF or CF with Erstad moving over then. Don't forget that Pods terrible throw also allowed the runners to advance and Ozzie stupidly walked the bases loaded. Thus, Jenks had to throw the 2-1 pitch down the cock. Just a bad string of events. Oh, I agree that Ozzie doesn't know how to manage and completely mis-handled the game. I just don't think its right to authoritatively state that BA (or, more correctly, Erstad) would have nailed him. Maybe he air-mails it to. But we know he's got a much better chance than Pods.
  7. QUOTE(shoota @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 12:01 AM) Bradley scored on a two out single to left that Pods airmailed over AJP's head. I contest BA would have thrown Bradley out. Maybe, maybe not. But it would have been a hell of a lot closer.
  8. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) awesome, glad we pissed away a decent pitching performance by Garland. Paging Kason Gabbard I'll call a 7 inning shutout more than decent!
  9. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 11:59 PM) No, with two outs, you're not throwing Bradley out in that situation. Maybe Konerko, but not Bradley. It looked like it would have been a close play if he could have pegged AJ's glove, and that's with Pod's noodle arm.
  10. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 11:56 PM) Back-to-back plays? You really think he had a legitmate chance to throw Bradley out in that situation? And I guess it's easy to say a catch should've been routine sitting at home watching on the tube. Someone with an arm might have been able to do it. We all know that Pods had zero chance.
  11. Pods should have caught that ball. Ozzie shouldn't have had him in there in such a close game. Typical excuses. It's not 100% their fault (Bobby gets the burden), but they are still part of the problem.
  12. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 11:50 PM) I don't see how you could blame Pods for this one. We should've never been in this situation. If anything, BA should've been in the game. Plus, all Jenks has to do is get one more out, and it's over. Or the Home Plate Ump could have not f***ed us over for our 2nd run of the game. A 2-run lead in a game like that would have given us (or Bobby) a much different mind-set. The fact that other people f***ed up doesn't excuse Ozzie's retarded in-game management and Pod's s*** throw and defense. No, the game isn't 100% on them, but it isn't 100% on Bobby either. Ozzie should have had his best defense out there.
  13. I hate Pods and Ozzie all over again.
  14. I hate Pods and Ozzie all over again.
  15. Popped to short left, one more to go!
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 11:06 PM) BTW...how the f*** do you let 2 lefty OFs hit against Embree when you have 3 righty OFs on the bench? The genius that is Ozzie Guillen managing.
  17. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 10:43 PM) Struck all 3 guys out on 11 pitches IIRC. Yeah, that was one hell of an inning.
  18. Jon's at 91 pitches. How many more batters will he face?
  19. Garland is at 65 pitches. It's going to take a couple of great innings to get him through the 7th.
  20. Bang up job by our hitters. I think I've figured out their approach for this game: Let Gaudin get nice and comfortable. Let him get away with hanging a pitch a little here and there. Then, in the 7th or 8th, pounce all over them. Or GIDP. Whatever.
  21. No hit, but still made him throw 10 pitches to the first batter. Nice job.
  22. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 07:12 PM) I think almost all of us who thought BA was getting a bad shake in terms of the CF 'competition' would rather see him getting ABs everyday in AAA instead of Ozzie keeping him on the team because KW wants him up...just not ever using him despite MANY chances to. I know I'd rather see him in AAA. His batting is not going to get any better sitting on the bench, and it may actually get worse. Then, when Ozzie does decide to use him on the rare occasion, he won't hit well. Oz will then that use as evidence to continue benching him. BA needs some consistent AB's. If he's not getting them in the majors, he needs to be sent to AAA.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) The question is of course...why do some teams that start off poorly but have good talent get a pass on major drops, while other teams that start off poorly but have good talent do drop? Because its just a bunch of subjective opinions and not based on much in-depth analysis. It's just meant to get people like us talking about them on message boards and in turn get them publicity. There's no rhyme or reason.
