  1. QUOTE(Wealz @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) Truth be told, Anderson was never a blue chip prospect. He's 25 and has been awful at the plate in 400 career AB's. He'd be worth starting in CF if the Sox rebuilding in the hopes that he'd turn into a useful player by the time he's 27. He was a top 100 prospect at one point. QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 07:44 PM) I agree with RockRaines here, he needs to go to AAA. There he can prove himself as a hitter again and then contribute to the Sox. Getting consistent AB's in AAA is better than wasting away on the bench, but he needs to play and prove himself against major league pitching.
  2. QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 07:37 PM) Thank you, that is exactly how I feel. Anderson showed that what, he can hit at best .250 for half a year? I'm not trying to say that he wont be a good player, but he needs to prove it. Yes, he should be in the minors to do that, but he does not deserve to be out on the field unless he is subbing defensively for Pods. alert the presses, a rookie struggled at the plate and improved over the year. How the f*** can he prove it if he's never given playing time?
  3. QUOTE(Wealz @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 06:59 PM) He may very well improve over what he did in 2006, but that still wouldn't necessarily make him an acceptable answer in center. A decent batting average and great defense from a young player isn't an acceptable answer?

ATHFCMFFT was everything I expected and wanted it to be.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 12:18 PM) It's going to be a disappointing year for everyone if we don't figure out a way to hit Santana, Sabathia, and every other tough lefty we face. Fixed.
  6. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) I'm thinking the mystery has to do with the cable that Sayid found which lead him to Danielle's place. That was the sonar communication line Locke tried using from that satellite bunker, wasn't it?
  7. Anderson is going to struggle at the plate this year, no doubt. If Erstad was hitting better than BA in 2006, I wouldn't mind him being out there as this offense needs all of the help it can get. But at this point, BA can produce just as well as Erstad isn't and play better defense to boot.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) And dont forget that each and every swing the players take are directly influenced by the manager. You seemed to think that the improvement in pitching was due to Ozzie yelling at them.
  9. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 10:51 AM) And whats more unreal is that we traded away our other CF options, and now we have BA, and no one else remotely close to being ready. Slick fielding CFers that can handle the bat well, young, and still cheap aren't exactly plentiful. I really hope Ozzie gets his head out of his ass and drops whatever beef he has against BA before we end up with no one to play CF except washed up veterans(see:Darin Erstad). Don't hold your breath.
  10. I feel sorry for Danks. He's pitched much better than anyone can expect of a rookie 5th starter, and the offense can't give him any sort of run support.
  11. Glad to see that the Sox can capitalize when it matters most at the plate.
  12. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) You say that now, but sometimes you have no control of what you will do when you are drunk. And no, I do not know him personally, or do I know anyone who does know him. I just like to think he joined the force as a way to help the community, in the first place at least. Then your ass should be locked up so you don't get drunk and beat women. I can't believe you're making excuses for this guy and saying "its not so bad!" He attacked a woman half his size and tried pummeling the s*** out of her. Luckily, he was drunk and couldn't connect well enough to break her face. But he sure as hell wanted to.

QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) us.imdb.com: Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is planning to re-release Grindhouse as two separate films - after the double-bill flopped at the box office. The film, a double-feature directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez made just $11.6 million in its opening weekend in the US. Producer Weinstein is disappointed - and thinks Tarantino's Death Proof, starring Kurt Russell, and Rodriguez' Planet Terror, with Rose McGowan, will perform better on their own. He tells PageSix.com, "I don't think people understood what we were doing. The audience didn't get the idea that it is two movies for the price of one. I don't understand the math, but I want to accommodate the audience." Bad idea, IMO. I didn't understand it as two movies for a while after the advertising and promotion began. They did a really poor job conveying that clearly. Anyone else going to see ATHF:MFFT this weekend?
  15. Maybe it was supposed to be Niger Brown?
  16. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 12:05 PM) Remember Ben said he was born on the island and not many could say that... So what has been affecting women wasn't a original problem with the island. Unless he was just lying. Again.
  17. Small sample sizes and no control means that you can't really say for sure one way or the other.
  18. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 11:22 AM) Eh, they weren't exactly stellar in spring training either... I'm not about to give Ozzie that much credit either but at least he was proactive. Agreed. He did the right thing there and it probably did help. You just can't just say that his rant made them pitch better and give him all of the credit for the "turn around" after Contreras had mental distractions and Buerhle got injured early.
  19. "Oh s***, Ozzie's pissed! I better pitch better or he'll yell at me! Good thing I wasn't trying before, so now that he's yelled at me I can 'turn it on'!"
  20. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 10:37 AM) Oh my bad, I heard it was divorce papers That was an unsubstantiated rumor floating around.
  21. They just don't care any more. They know that no one is going to by this BS excuse, but they just don't care.
  22. RIP. My girlfriend has had Slaughterhouse 5 sitting on the headboard for a while. Maybe I'll crack it open this weekend.
  23. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 10:14 PM) lol the best part is that Imus is the top news story for what he said. oh yes, this is BIG NEWS! weee! Echoes my brief thoughts on the subject. People who b**** about the media being biased need to focus on the more important issue: The media is just incompetent.
