  1. Mueller asking if Manafort promised banker White House job in return for loans
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 21, 2018 -> 09:11 AM) The same post about that kid has been copied over and over, unfortunately for the trolls, the yearbook picture they are using CLEARLY shows that its from the actual yearbook from this school instead of this "2015 california" story they are pushing Almost all of the top youtube results for "David Hogg" right now are conspiracy nonsense. Social media is a mistake.
  3. Odd timing. Illinois Senate considering bill to mandate rear-facing car seats until 2. http://www.sj-r.com/news/20180220/illinois...ats-until-age-2
  4. Cool, youtube's algorithms are easily exploited to the point that a video suggestion shooting survivor David Hogg is a paid actor is now the #1 trending video https://twitter.com/maxwellstrachan/status/...322425662246913
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2018 -> 08:24 AM) Also like the kid in FL snapping back at Donny Jr. who claims the kid's ex FBI father is feeding him lines. I guess Donny forgot about his meeting with Russians in Trump Tower, and what daddy told him to say. Adoption. Donald Trump Jr. Liked Tweets Promoting A Conspiracy Theory About A Florida Shooting Survivor
  6. Russian meddling is an ongoing and serious threat per every Trump-appointed IC official. Obama didn't do anything because when he went to McConnell to ask for a unified front, McConnell said if Obama went public he'd make it a partisan issue.
  7. It's also a good example of a failure to consider other consequences. Sure, *maybe* arming every teacher actually would prevent or lessen mass school shootings. But there's zero consideration of what other effects it could have, either through increased non-mass-shooting gun violence in multiple ways or socially, in turning every school into an armed compound.
  8. Another Trump district pickup for Democrats, this time in Kansas https://t.co/ZZ5TfeKTA0
  9. There's been hardly any arctic sea ice this year, reaching a record low in January. Temps have been about +20°C for weeks now. http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/s...g-a8215706.html gonna be cool when the jet stream permanently collapses
  10. An aide to a State Rep. in Florida is emailing journalists accusing the students of being "crisis actors" from out of state. https://twitter.com/learyreports/status/966074529201246209
  11. Sahil Kapur @sahilkapur now Replying to @sahilkapur New Q poll on gun control is striking ? —97-2% for mandatory background checks —67-29% for banning assault weapons —83-14% for mandatory waiting periods —67-3% say it's too easy to buy a gun —59-33% say US is less safe with more guns —75-17% say Congress should do more
  12. has anyone else found navigating NBC's website to find the available live streams confusing?
  13. Uh we can still criticize Mitt for being spineless while also laughing at all of the Resistance-types who praise him and similar Republicans for sometimes criticizing Trump but not actually ever doing anything meaningful. We're also talking about Utah here. Unless Romney has some similar child-touching skeletons as Roy Moore, it's a safe seat and he doesn't have to grovel to Trump.
  14. Donald Trump Jr. is busy this morning liking tweets from the propaganda/conspiracy website The Gateway Pundit 'just asking questions' about how maybe one of the outspoken shooting survivors is "running cover" for the FBI because his dad's a former agent.
  15. Another indictment and plea deal from Mueller. His father in law also happens to be a Russian oligarch
  16. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 09:50 AM) Mitt has to do this. He needs Trump supporters to turn out. I don't think he'll be some moderate champion fighting Trump at every turn in the Senate, but pretty much no matter what he's an upgrade over Hatch. Mitt is Mormom aristocracy in a blood red state. He didn't have to immediately bend the knee to Trump, but he eagerly took the endorsement, just like he did in 2012 when Trump was regularly peddling birther nonsense.
  17. The hot new thing in active shooter situations for schools is ALICE training. I forget exactly what the acronym is, but when you break down what they're really recommending, the full horror comes to light. Barricade doors, even if they open outwards, because then a shooter has to climb over crap. If the shooter's in the room, have the kids run around screaming and throwing whatever they can, basically just be as chaotic as possible. Give the teachers bags of golf balls to whip at the shooter. It's not about saving the lives in that classroom. It's about making the shooter take an extra 10 or 20 second, 10 or 20 bullets to shoot at everyone there, which hopefully buys everyone else more time to evacuate or for the shooter to run out of ammunition. That's the reality that our teachers and our children have to think about with regular active shooter lockdown drills.
  18. At least now we get a variety of terrible ads from JB, Biss, Kennedy, Ives, and Rauner. After March, it'll just be the same repetitive ads from Rauner and JB, Kennedy or Biss over and over and over and over for months. JB's even been paying for unskippable youtube ads!
  19. Was this the sole study the recommendation has been based on? e: and is this for all age ranges or more specifically for 1-2 year olds?
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 09:21 AM) Yeah I haven't seen polling but I figured JB with wrapping up every single endorsement was clear lead. I've been following it about once a week or so over on Capitol Fax, probably the best Illinois political news site/feed (it even makes an appearance in one of Pritzker's ads as a chrome bookmark!). JB's running ahead but not substantially. Kennedy and Biss are in second place or third place, flipping depending on the specific polls. All three are beating Rauner handily, at least based on current polls. This was the latest from PPP, showing JB at 31%, Kennedy at 25% and Biss at 22%. I don't know how much it'll really hurt him, but Madigan's now had two aides have to resign after sexual misconduct/harassment allegations. That dinosaur needs to go and we need to amend or rewrite big chunks of our state constitution. This Legionnaires' disease thing at the veterans home keeps dogging Rauner, who only seems to be able to shout "buh buh buh Madigan!" One of his guests at the State of the State speech even came down with it last week.
  21. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 09:06 AM) LOL so true... Can't give those teachers a raise, but how about a gun? lol if you don't think they'd be forced to pay for it out of their own pocket, along with training. and that there wouldn't be a substantial uptick in suicides and shootings, resulting either from hot-tempered teachers or from "oops where'd I leave my gun?" accidents. The other brilliant idea is just arming a bunch of unemployed vets and putting them at every school. What a complete hellscape world some people envision. Neither of these 'solutions' are being offered seriously, of course. It's just a way to appear like you at least care while changing the topic from any sort of gun restrictions whatsoever.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 09:03 AM) I can't make heads or tails of this IL Gov Dem primary. i am not going to vote for JB Pritzker. Policies or not, I just can't flatter someone who is just a rich kid that liked using it to hang out with powerful people, then gets confused and thinks that he's done something with his life and is important. The pritzkers do a lot of good for Illinois, illinois gives a s*** ton of preferences to pritzker business, they already run things they don't need to run things. So Biss. But I hate Mike Madigan, and the dropping of his Lt Gov showed such obvious political grandstanding from both sides. So Kennedy, haha no not Kennedy. s***. So Biss. effing Illinois. This is also where I'm at and I really don't get the appeal of Kennedy to anyone. If you just listen to his commercials, he sounds like one of Michael Scott's videos from The Office. Just empty nonsensical rhetoric. Plus his weird anti-pot stance. We're going to get our choice of billionaires though.
  23. I can't believe the number of people who actually suggest arming teachers as the solution. Double points for the venn diagram of "people who want to arm teachers" and "people who think teachers are lazy union thugs indoctrinating our children with liberalism" being a single circle.
  24. QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 08:01 AM) Hopefully those maps get redrawn in other districts too since some involve gerrymandering and data analysis can prove that. There's a couple of big cases pending before SCOTUS right now on Wisconsin and Maryland that could have significant national impacts depending on how they're decided. The PA case was based on the state's constitution rather than federal law, so it won't apply outside of PA. Mitt, despite making a bunch of anti-Trump noise in 2016 and some last year, has already accepted Trump's endorsement.
  25. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Feb 16, 2018 -> 04:24 PM) Seems like the voters cared with the Lock Her Up stuff. I tend to think that Obama telling Facebook to get rid of pro-Trump comments is exactly the type of thing that gets the Conservative base out to vote. It's also not just Russians who promote fake news stuff. Conservative media is full of the stuff. The same people likely to consume and spread the Russian produced stuff are also going to frequent the gateway pundit and world net daily and American thinker and any number of those types of sites. Hell, the President has still never recanted his birtherism.
