  3. Financier Is Top Choice to Advise President on Intelligence Matters Trump has finally picked members for a key intelligence advisory board, and billionaire Stephen Feinberg is slated to head it. The guy has zero intelligence or government experience but he raises a lot of money for the GOP!

Dozens of People Recount Pattern of Sexual Misconduct by Las Vegas Mogul Steve Wynn Wynn Resorts employees and others described a CEO who sexualized his workplace and pressured workers to perform sex acts. Mr. Wynn responded: ‘The idea that I ever assaulted any woman is preposterous.’ He's also the GOP Finance Chairman

  6. The GOP as a whole continues it's sprint to the far-right Rubio rejects bipartisan immigration gang The Florida Republican is steering clear of bipartisan Senate talks to protect Dreamers — and pushing a more conservative approach.
  7. In a body of 435, yeah? That's a 3% difference. If population density was a major factor, you wouldn't see a maximally gerrymandered Democratic edge of 251 seats. It remains a factor, and it's hugely important in the Senate, but in the House it's dwarfed by other factors.
  8. 538 took a look at gerrymandering along different lines: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/redistricting-maps/ So population density is a factor, but overall it's a pretty minor one. Several seats either way, but definitely doesn't account for the majority.

  10. The White House already said today that the bipartisan Senate plan is DOA.
  11. This relies on state law, so SCOTUS probably won't get involved.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 02:55 PM) The Democrats already offered up some funding on the monument to how much we hate brown people on the southern border. Trump backing away from that deal was where the "we need fewer people from S***hole countries and more people from Norway" conversation came from. Schumer offered even more money for the "eventual American recreation of the destruction of the Berlin Wall" and Rep. Gutierrez backed it, but it still wasn't enough for the anti-immigrant hardliners in Congress and the White House (Miller and Kelly).
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 02:49 PM) Maybe they will cave, maybe they wont. But why wasnt this a big priority 10 years ago? Why wait until youre the minority party? They haven't had control of the House for almost 8 years now, but you're not wrong that this should have been a bigger deal for years. However, Trump helped create this issue by ending DACA and drastically stepping up both anti-immigrant rhetoric and actions. They'll cave because they have no more leverage today than they did yesterday and have yet to show a spine on this issue. This is millions of peoples' lives being torn apart and permanently damaged intentionally. If Democrats won't stand up to stop that despite repeatedly promising their base and immigrant groups that they would, what will they stand up for? Why should they continue to count on the support and votes of immigrant communities if they'll do nothing to protect them? There were attempts in 2013 iirc, but the GOP has a strong anti-immigrant wing and controlled the House. Obama instituted the DACA program after bipartisan talks fell apart.
  14. Then why even try this in the first place instead of taking what McConnell offered last week, which is all you ended up with after a shutdown? They'll cave again in three weeks and ICE will begin ripping apart families and deporting people who have known no other country.
  15. House GOP Proposes Largest Restriction on Legal Immigrants Since the 1920s
  16. Seems pretty obvious why Trump's "voter fraud" commission doesn't want to turn over data and communications: Trump voting commission bought Texas election data flagging Hispanic voters
  17. They've already been ramping up heavy-handed deportation raids and have revoked the status of several hundred thousand immigrants, forcing them to leave within a few years' time. The GOP at this point is pushing hard to further reduce legal immigration on top of this.
  18. Seriously, if they are willing to agree to this level of uselessness, then why bother pretending to take a stand at all? Deirdre Walsh ✔ @deirdrewalshcnn .@GOPWhip also made it clear no commitment for House to take up Senate DACA deal, saying any bill had to include funding for the wall and "would not include amnesty" 1:41 PM - Jan 22, 2018 Trump and ICE will deport hundreds of thousands of dreamers in addition to the hundreds of thousands of tps recipients they're already condeming to middle eastern slave camps. They're also looking into how to arrest public officials in sanctuary cities. If the Congressional Democrats won't stand up to ethnic cleansing, what will they stand up for?
  19. Rahm Emanuel was busy lying to immigration activists and then Obama oversaw the collapse of the Democratic party across the country. Democrats could have also pushed back against that bulls*** messaging given how popular DACA is even among Trump supporters. I think it's bad that they've shown no spine yet again, this time for ethnic cleansing. Pissing off your base isn't a great way to get into a position to win.
  20. Here's an easy way: come here legally on some sort of Visa and just overstay! That's a significant percentage of undocumented people. If you're smuggling drugs, do it through shipping or by sea. Hand carried across the border is a tiny fraction.
  21. There would probably be a design basis threat for that sort of thing which would specify the number of people, the tactics and the tools they could. I'm guessing the max ladder length was 20' or something.
  22. It's for three weeks and does include chip, but it doesn't include protections for hundreds of thousands of dreamers who are going to be deported starting in March and who the Democrats have repeatedly made promises to stand up for. The base is really, really pissed over a vague promise from McConnell, nothing from Ryan, and Trump already coming out and saying he wouldn't sign Graham-Durbin. The GOP is going to continue to kick out as many people from this country as they can unabated
  23. Sounds like the Dems have caved for vague promises from McConnell and the government will be reopened (for a few weeks) shortly
