  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 12:41 PM) Feinstein releases testimony of Glenn Simpson, whose research firm Fusion GPS was behind Trump dossier After numerous selective leaks and allegedly dishonest attacks on Fusion GPS coming from the GOP, Democrats and the founders of Fusion GPS had called on Republicans to release the full transcripts from congressional testimony. The GOP stonewalled this, so now Democrats have released it unilaterally. Big revelation so far appears to be that Steele talked to the FBI and then reported back to Fusion GPS that the FBI thought he was credible as they already had other information, including from a source inside the Trump campaign. For some very mysterious reason, the GOP Senators who are busy attacking the FBI and falsely claiming the whole thing is a witch hunt started by the dossier really didn't want this transcript released.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 01:03 PM) um... what are you talking about? I was talking about booing versus cheering. What are you referring to? Did he sing the National Anthem?! He...attempted to sing along at the game last night. But he either did not know the words to some parts or just randomly started and stopped. This came only a few hours after yet another rant about NFL players and RESPECTING THE FLAG AND ANTHEM!
  3. More talk of a "bloody nose" strike plan against North Korea This is such a bad idea, and it's coming from the putative "adults" in the room. On the one hand, they're regularly pointing out how irrational and unstable Kim is, so they're planning to...punch him in the face? And on the other hand, how could the DPRK ever really know that it's a "limited" strike versus the opening salvo in a regime change effort? There's no realistic mechanisms where the conflict doesn't immediately escalate to something bigger.

  6. We can draw school zones to make classrooms less segregated. This is how well your district does. Interesting piece from Vox on how schools have become increasingly resegregated over the past couple of decades due to a wide variety of factors, and it includes a little tool to see how your own local school district does.
  7. California Rep. Ed Royce is retiring, and that seat immediately flipped from "leans R" to "leans D" in everyone's forecasts for 2018. That makes the 7th committee chair that's announced retirement ahead of 2018.

  15. I know this was a couple of days back, but Phillips and McCaskey saying they'll be sitting in on head coach interviews leaves me with little hope. These clowns shouldn't be anywhere near football decisions.
  16. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 04:32 PM) I read it after I heard it was a joke, but I think I would have believed everything up until the line where it says staffers placed a broadcast tower on the south lawn. I didn't think the original joke was that great, but man the aftermath is just perfection.
  17. QUOTE (Quin @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 12:58 PM) So, today is the day the GOP has decided to go full Banana Republic. Yep, 100% complicit top-to-bottom. Zero chance they'd do anything in response to a Saturday Night Massacre to kill the Mueller investigation.

  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 06:15 PM) So apparently due to a major security flaw discovered in their chips, Intel and other companies are going to release patches likely to reduce the speed of "ALL" computers on the market by about 30%. Will hit Intel machines hardest first, Linux and Windows, but future patches likely for all OS. This is bad, it affects AMD chips too so nobody escapes. Some of the problems are at the hardware level so there's no way to fix short of swapping in a new, redesigned processor.
